Zuni Caesar Salad
The menu choices were limited. I have dined here several times and it has gone downhill.
The food is delicious
Everything was perfect for our 34th wedding anniversary!
The Caesar salad and roast chicken were better than ever. Our three-hour lunch was the perfect way to spend a lazy Saturday. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere.
Great service, great food!! What a great experience!!
Keeps me coming back!!
We enjoyed their signature dish of whole chicken on bread salad - which was delicious. We also had a Cesar salad which was very good. Not inexpensive - and they add 25% to the bill for their employees' living wage.
Zuni always delivers! We love the standards- the fries, chicken, but the lamb sandwich was amazing!
It's always fun to introduce new people to Zuni. The food and service were on point, as ever. I particularly enjoyed the olive poached tuna this time.
Food was good, but not special. Very expensive, not generous. Why ask diners to pay extra for bread? Or olives?
Zuni always great for date night, happy their back!
Excellent food with great service in a wonder location!
Katlin, arranged a special table for us.
My once go to from the time I moved to San Francisco has officially lost its mojo. Very sad. There’s no love in the kitchen. The bar remains the best part—still serving a good cocktail with great service. I was with friends who have all been coming here for over 25 years. We had meh appetizers with overly salted fish mains, that the server decided to remove just one of from the bill. We insisted both be removed as we each had one bit of two dishes. They lose points for service. I know it’s Covid … even more reason to try harder. We will continue to patronize the bar. Nothing compares to the setting of Zuni with the floor to ceiling windows, the exposed brick and the vibe. Just don’t expect a good meal!
Just absolutely wonderful ❤️ Everything is done with such care.
Great food, drinks and service. Right near the Van Gogh immersive exhibit, too.
I like that Zuni's menu is small and you don't have to wade through 50 items to come to a decision about what you want to order. I had heard raves about the hamburger and was looking forward to eating that for lunch, but I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. I order my beef medium rare, expecting a lot of flavorful juice to be part of the taste, but that was not the case with this burger. Maybe the meat was too lean, but it just didn't have much flavor to it at all. Next time I go, I'll try something a little more creative.
I am happy that Zuni has moved to including the tip in the overall price of the meal...taking care of all their employees is a major reason that I'll come back.
Love this restaurant. Super friendly staff and the food is excellent!
Having been coming here since 1990 every time we travel to SF, Zuni continues to deliver! Food was fantastic.
The food just wasn’t worth its price. I was extremely disappointed in this restaurant. Its been more than over hyped by some of the reviews I’ve read. The chicken was extremely dry and flavorless. It reminded me of a rotisserie chicken you’d buy at Costco. Our waiter pushed the shoestrings fries on my table so we ordered it to try. When it came to our table it was a colossal tower of unseasoned strings. I don’t think you could grate fries any thinner than the way they were presented to us on the table. I honestly don’t recommend coming here. I thought me and my girlfriend would try something new and ended up extremely unhappy with a $120 bill and a 25% service charge they add because it’s “fair”. 1/5 stars. You’re better off cooking some chicken at home in the oven. It’ll come out tasting better and you’ll save $100
Though the food was good, the choices were VERY limited. The tables were TEENY and you couldn't fit your ordered items and drinks on there properly. The wait staff were friendly and efficient. We could understand the Healthy San Francisco 5% surcharge, but NOT the whopping 20% surcharge for the tip, I always thought the customer got to decide that.
Certainly not Zuni of the past. Complete indifference by bartenders and wait staff. Food was definitely below the levels of my many years of experience here! I understand the 20% additional to the bil, but they very much encourage you to tip as well!
Zuni is terrible and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. First of the service was awful and the restaurant was half empty. Our waiter (older, grey-hair, heavy set man was a deusche bag. I guess he looked down on us because we are of a younger caliber. Secondly, the food was not what it was cracked up to be. $60 for a mediocre rotisserie chicken? I don’t see what the hype is for. Lastly, they would not serve my friends husband. Apparently they took it upon themselves to decide that he be cut off from alcohol. He did nothing wrong. They had just come off a plane and he had a few drinks. Big deal! They didn’t even tell us they wouldn’t serve him, they just didn’t bring the drink he ordered. Since when can a restaurant cut you off from an alcoholic beverage? I have never even heard of such a thing.
A beautiful restaurant with outstanding and thoughtful service and staging. Delicious comfort food with high quality ingredients. Great ambience. Perfect for lunch with friends, dinner with your significant other, family get-togethers or a business meeting. One of my favorite restaurants in all of San Francisco. Never disappoints since it started in the ‘70’s.
Amazing food, service
Hopefully as we all get back to work - we will get all the kinks worked out!
Zuni has fallen from grace. This was always our iconic must do as well as special occasion restaurant, that always had a consistent level of food and service. Our experience this time had little to be desired. The food was just ok, oysters and salad were good but the chicken and shoe string fries (which are their signature dishes) fell short from their typical preparation. Chicken not flavorful and the fries were undercooked. The service is also a problem as they are trying to recover from the pandemic. Our server was very new, didn’t know how to open a bottle of wine, missed items on our order, and didn’t know what Port was. While the server was very pleasant and trying hard, it just seems when you are offering your signature chicken dish for $68.00 and then adding a 25% “fair wage” adder to the entire bill you would have high caliber staff. Even those bussing the tables seemed disorganized. They would bring new plates and dishes without clearing the old ones.
Fingers crossed Zuni Cafe can return to its former glory but if you go, lower your expectations for everything except the price you will pay - in that department they will surpass your expectation.
We have been customers for years. Not back for a year and a half. Restaurant welcoming and food excellent. New art work during the closure. Good to be back.
I have no issue with tipping but choose 1 card or the chicken
Great food and great fun after all these years it still serving delicious food and drink.
Great experience. Everything we ate was excellent.
Zuni an old favorite of ours is just getting back its groove, in part because it is very short-staffed currently. Things will improve undoubtedly, despite our lack-luster experience this time.
Always a great time at Zuni! Lovely staff, great food, lively atmosphere.
As always, we are carrying the wonderful memory of another lovely meal at Zuni Cafe. Amazing dished with great depth of flavor. We started with oysters and ended with the panna cotta. In between , my wife had a lovely tuna dish and I the flank steak with “ cranberry beans” eggplant and Anaheim pepper.
So glad we were able to get in this trip.
Delicious food, excellent service, outstandingly friendly staff
It was great
We love this place! The food is amazing and the service is attentive without being in your way. Everything from cocktails to dessert is extra-special.
Early Father’s Day celebration and recognizing 30 years fo eating at Zuni
My favorite restaurant in the city. The artwork, the seating, the food, the bread. All of it brilliant.
