Covid period is not the ideal time to go. No table service, cafe is boarded up.
I've been going to the Zuni since it opened in the 70s. It's one of the best restaurants in San Francisco and has been for all those years. They have adapted to the cauvet world we are now living in very professionally. It felt very safe to sit at a table, and the wait staff are respectful and behave safely. As always the food is fantastic, but unfortunately the ambience is colored by the fact that tables are set up on Market Street. It's noisy and there are lots of people passing by. Unfortunately, this is just how it is, for now. When we can move back inside cama the Zuni cafe will again be one of the most pleasurable dining experiences in San Francisco, and maybe the entire country.
Great effort during COVID. Excellent service. Food was good. Time to take down the plywood off the windows.
Despite service alterations due to COVID, Zuni maintains it's dedication to excellent food and service.
We went to Zuni for lunch and sat outside on Market Street due to covid restrictions. A little noisy but we were so glad to be there! Food excellent. Service fine but it is a little different since you go up to door to order. So glad to be able to support them!
Zuni is truly one of the most wonderful restaurants in SF. They are consistently amazing with food and service - love love love this place
This was not a typical night ( March 15) They did a beautiful job of keeping distances with flowers on every other table. Our dinner was as excellent as usual, and the staff, though less social, were as kind as always. I hope the staff and purveyors can all weather this storm with a minimum of hardship, and we will all be back enjoying one of our very favorite restaurants.
Food was as always fantastic
With only 30-50% of tables being used to allow for a safe distance, it felt less lively than usual, but definitely the right thing to do
Great Standard, if you have not been to ZUNI, make a reservation!
Great service and ambiance.
I got the hamburger, would not order it again.
Caeser salad outstanding, pizza great, the panna cotta amazing.
This is a classic SF restaurant that maintains high standards with unique offerings.
You will not be disappointed. Consider the server's recommendations for what to order.
During the Covid-19 event, we still decided to visit the classic SF place with our visiting nephew. Service was great, friendly and responsive. The food was solid. We had the Ricotta gnocchi, the fritto and the fries kept us busy while we waited for the chicken. We also had the pork with broad beans. Loved the pork! Desserts were the grapefruit Campari sorbet and the gateau victoire. Victoire was absolutely the winner!
Overall a great experience to share with friends and family.
Excellent, as usual! The oysters, drinks (martini, lemon drop, wine... apple juice for our son), Caesar salad, shoestring fries, gnocchi and roasted chicken were enjoyed by all. Thank you for a great birthday dinner & hope to be back soon.
45 years and still amazing. Service is superb! Thank you Teddy! Food absolutely delicious.
I've always loved this place and always go when in SF. Not sure I'll return next time. The service was rude - terrible. So unlike them. And our vegetarian pizza was lackluster and not flavorful. Sadly not the memorable experience it used to be.
Only comment ,
My guest asked that her Bloody Mary have salt on the edge of hers [ like a Margarita ] and surprisingly , the waitress said no ... she seemed new and maybe thought the bartender would give her a hard time .
Actually , a simple request that would have been easy to do .
It did not spoil our lunch
Overall good food, the chicken was very good however the polenta was a little bland. The service was excellent and the ambiance was good.
Zuni consistently is on "game"....the food, the wine, the people, we LOVE our evenings with everyone there, grateful to be able to go once a week, thank you all, Kim and Clarence Barker
Gorgeous food and impeccable service. Everything one desires in visiting a restaurant.
The food was wonderful and creative. The pasta with clams was so much better than any Linguine con Vongole I've ever eaten. It was very noisy at first but as then lunch crowd thins out , it was perfect.
Always great. My friend from Montana insists on Zuni whole roast chicken when in SF.
Best restaurant I have been to in SF. Got a sweet side by side table for a date and it was cozy, romantic, and the food was amazing!
Another Exceptional dining experience at Zuni.
Loved it! The burrata and asparagus salad especially was so very perfect
Good food, good drinks, appropriate service, right pace and timing of food courses.
Didn’t have the best table (upstairs in a corner away from windows)but waitstaff was wonderful and friendly.
Order the Caesar salad! Pork was good but had more fat than expected. Wine was good. Fries are more like potato sticks. They were good but not what I expected.
I love this restaurant and the staff are always personable and while also being professional. We had a great table and the food was amazing.
The location of the table. Very poor.
The wood-fired chicken is everything. The hour you wait goes by in a second. worth it.
My wife and I both ordered a Caesar salad. I also had 8 oysters and she had shoestring french fries. The salads were very difficult to eat, the lettuce leaves stuck out over the edge of the plates and the dressing was mediocre. The oysters were fine, The french fries were OK. We also had a bottle of wine.
The service was excellent. The noise level was moderate, but a nearby table had several loudmouthed people whose conversations we were forced to endure.
The bill, including a generous tip was around $230. Maybe our fault for not ordering differently, but we probably won't return anytime soon.
We had lunch and everything was perfect, as usual. This is my favorite restaurant. We always have oysters. My husband had the seafood ink pasta (awesome), and I had salad. The bread is to die for, a must have, as it is specially made for Zuni.
Since I’ve been going since Billy West owned it’s always been “ My Special occasion place...
Since I am celebrating my Birthday month you will see me again .one suggestion pillows for
Those of us with bad backs,...I noticed someone took the cushion from bench to rest his back on.
I believe there use toe pillows.
I’ve been coming to Zuni for 35 years and I still think it is one of my favorites. I don’t like paying extra for a dipping sauce aïoli to go with my fries. It’s nickeling and diming customers especially since we are paying a6% health tax on top of the regular tax! They also tried to charge me three dollars for six extra croutons for my Caesar salad!
Always a perfect evening. Shoestring frites, Cesar salad, chicken... always delicious!
The menu always a good selection, and there is always something new for the season. Every time I am in SF I do try to come here for dinner at least once. Always a really solid meal and the wine list is also good.
Poor service from our waitress.
This was one of the most disappointing meals that we've had in a very long time. Zuni Cafe has been one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco for many years. We have eaten at Zuni every time we visit San Francisco. In the past, the food has always been great. This time, it was terrible!!! We had been looking forward to the roast chicken dinner for weeks before our trip to San Francisco. First of all, it took almost 90 minutes to get our food...which only enhanced our anticipation for our favorite meal! But, when it finally arrived, the chicken was overcooked, dry, and tough. The mustard greens and "bread salad" were soaked with, what tasted like, so much vinegar that they were inedible!!! I don't know what happened to such a great restaurant, but our meal was awful! I doubt that we will ever eat at Zuni again, and we certainly won't recommend it to anyone in the future!!! The price is way too expensive for such a bad meal!!!
Zuni has been a favorite place for a long time, it is always delicious and just feels like such an elegant city spot. I love Zuni Cafe!
Waitress was just “so so”. Not so friendly or attentive.
Teddy is the best!
The roasted chicken is a must!!
Nothing to write home about. Food was fine, but not great for the price. Drinks and food expensive, but nice ambiance.
