   The grilled halibut with carrots and radishes was delicious, as was the glass of Puille-Fuise. The Zuni Caesar salad had a little too much dressing on it. I wish it were a little less expensive so I could go more often. I had a delightful time. Excellent service.

   Our dinner was excellent, but the occasion was marred by blips in the service. We ordered drinks and a plate of fries to start. Our drinks came right away; but the fries didn’t arrive until just before our main courses were served. So that took away some of the pleasure from the drinks. Our bavette steaks were very tasty, but the serving temperature was too cold from sitting on a kitchen counter. As usual the wine list continues to be over-priced; so next time I’ll remember to skip the wine and stick with mixed drinks or beer.

   My friend and I had a great time there with a culinary highlight as we tried the famous chicken dish. Outstanding. The ambiente was really nice, large window with a good view outside and a table for 2 which was just large enough to serve two. Will need to come back again, for sure....

   For 20+ years I’ve read about Zuni, fallen in love with the Zuni cookbook and cooked from it many times. After recently moving to the Bay Area and after reading about changes at the restaurant I decided it was time to experience it firsthand. And boy was I pleasantly surprised. We had Sunday lunch and were delighted with the entire experience. And yes the roast chicken is perfection on a plate and is worth the 1 hour wait. The Gateau Victoire is my favorite flourless chocolate cake and did not disappoint. Our server is a long time veteran and reassured us that the restaurant is in great hands with chef Anne Alvero. It shows and the legacies of Billy West and Judy Rodgers live on. Thank you Zuni for a delightful memorable lunch.

    Our server Austin was great. He was able to answer all of our questions. He even had some great wine recommendations. The busboy/back waiter was also very attentive.

    Waiter could not describe the entrees when asked. Ordered Porchetta which was a slice of pork with 80% fat. My husband ordered the steak which was undercooked and vegetables were soggy. This used to be a great restaurant. 20% tip was included, but service poor. We would not go back.

    The restaurant appears to not have heat. Raining and 48 degrees, sat us next to a drafty window so we were uncomfortable and food was cold. Not acceptable for this type of restaurant. Shame on them

    Quite pricey. My wife and I spent $192 for lunch. I DID get a martini. She drank water. The waiter forgot to order me a second drink, which was probably for the best. The tip is now built into the bill which may explain some pretty lackadaisical service. This place is very different from what it was pre-pandemic. I do not mind paying a lot for amazing service and food, but this place ain't that. My wife said afterward, "It's kind of like Applebee's now"

    The portions were small, green vegetables such as broccolini and Brussels sprouts were available only in scant quantities. Unforgivable in CA. Pizza was delicious. Cider and the Rose were excellent.

    The food and service was great. When we first arrived the hostess tried to seat us at a table next to where the staff sorted silverware, no tablecloth, and near the front door (it was in the 40’s). We requested a different table and they obliged, this time with a tablecloth and near the wood burning oven. The food was heavenly. We would definitely go back.

    Babette steak not cooked to requested doneness. Pork Chop entree poorly conceptualized with odd side dishes: chick peas. Caesar salad excellent as always. Dessert was mediocre(Chocolate Cake.) Service was excellent and generally responsive. Value was Ok. Seems like there are greater value restaurants operating in SF in the same price range.

    First of all, Zuni is one of my very favorite restaurants. We’ve not been there since the Covid shut down and I was very excited to dine there. However, my husband has developed into a rather picky eater and he felt the menu was rather limited. I may have to leave him home in the future.

    This is a well-known dining experience in S.F. And, boy, does it live up to the hype, and anticipation! We spent over 2 hours at lunch having the food & time of our lives. Joseph was our waiter & he was great — knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The food was perfect — the roast chicken, Caesar salad, bread, wines, lamb, etc. was all great! It’s a bit pricey, so go for a special occasion, as we did, and you’ll have a lovely, memorable time. (Note — the roast chicken takes one hour from order to delivery, so maybe call ahead and order? Just a heads-up.).

    So hard to get a reservation at this iconic SF restaurant. That chicken is what dreams are made of. Made a reservation weeks in advance and could only get a 8:15pm dinner resy. The four of us were stoked as we hadn’t been there in years. As soon as we sat down our server’s complete lack of friendliness and professionalism left us silent looking at each other like her rudeness was a joke. To break the ice I commented, “It must be exhausting being so busy. We’ll order quickly to get out of your hair” to which she said nothing and walked away. We have all worked in restaurants in our history as well have owned SF restaurants one of which is still packed close to 30 years later and tried our best to give her the benefit of the doubt. But it literally continued the entire evening leaving such a bitter taste in our mouths I politely informed the GM after our dinner of how bad our experience was. No offer to come back to revisit or gesture of regret. It is standard at our restaurants to offer a coupon, free dessert or anything to leave the customer feeling somewhat ok. With an automatic 20% tip and a $500+ bill, we were sorely disappointed. I don’t leave very many reviews but this was worth my time to share our experience. Additionally, the chicken was too salty. Ouch.

    We loved our entire dining experience! Used to come here frequently, but it had been years. We will definitely be back and will make Zuni a regular stop. Our downstairs table with a view of the kitchen was a pleasant and educational experience. The roasted chicken and bread salad were delicious: just like we remembered. Can’t wait to return.

    It was great. They have a wood fired oven and they make these chickens with levin bread and they have these Julian fries and good wines to boot. Just delicious.
