Always a solid choice for lunch or dinner. Ambiance is great, food is very good, location is perfect for gathering folks from all parts of the city.
Went for Saturday lunch and had the excellent Brunch Relleno and very good beef Street Tacos. The black bean and rice sides were very good also. The complimentary cornbread was a pleasant surprise. We ate on the back patio was was comfortable and quiet. Good service!Recommended!
We waited too long to see our waiter. The rest of the service was pretty good. We had to send back one meal because it was not warm enough. The other was just warm enough. If served hot the meals would have been great. Entries, flavors, etc. were really good. Just need to be warmer.
We were very disappointed that the kitchen was not allergy friendly! We wanted to order a vegetarian bowl WITHOUT onion! Our server informed us that this was not possible! Essentially we were ordering a bowl minus one ingredient! How could this not be possible? Her response was,” the bowls are pre made”! Very disappointing! Our server Randy was very passive aggressive! She did not “Aim to please”.
Good food and service and very friendly staff. The margaritas are fantastic!!
A neighborhood gem. Not being from the area we didn’t know what to expect but we had a great experience. A wide variety and interesting food choices; and what we settled on was excellent...with the right amount of spice. Service was outstanding. Great margaritas! You should try it!
Great time and great food. We sat outside on their back patio which was quieter then the front. Service was excellent and the food is consistently great!
Wonderful food and service
Excellent service by Scottie! Thank you so much for an enjoyable evening with our colleagues visiting from Norway. The chile relleno was wonderful and our guests really enjoyed their enchiladas. And yes, the margaritas are wonderful.
We love ZTejas. We are from Houston and eat here every time we ate in town.
Brunch was awesome. The coffee was good. We loved the complimentary cornbread, mini muffins, and fruit. I’ll definitely go back.
Met2 friends there for brunch! Drinks were good! Liked the bloodly Mary bar!
I ordered the stuffed breakfast relleno and it was excellent! Nice outdoor seating. Would go back!!
Fantastic service and the food was amazing! Great place!
Nice out door area but too close to the noisy street.
Have been coming here for probably 20 years. Many of the old favorite so delicious (catfish beignets, enchilada stack, Chile relleno, jalapeno margarita. But salads we're not as good. Sauce was vinegary and fish could have been fresher. Place was pretty empty. Serving staff not as peppy as they used to be. Overall felt tired for the first time in my experience.
We went on a Friday around 6. The place was deserted.
We were in the back room by the parking lot. Just 1 other occupied table so it was not noisy.
Our server was excellent.
The cocktails were tasty
The hot tortilla chips were rancid. Smelled terrible. They were replaced by cold ones that were ok
No bathrooms in the restaurant. You had to go next door & down several flights of stairs -VERY difficult for my hubby who often uses a wheelchair
As we left we walked out through the main dining area & we gagged at the stench of sewerage. I mean literally gagged. I just don’t know why anyone was seated in that room & even more oddly why anyone stayed
The service at ZTejas was terrific and the margarita was one of the best I’ve had. Was a little disappointed in the tortilla soup but the shrimp tostados as an appetizer were great!
Cornbread is the best. Catfish beignets and tortilla soup met all my expectations. Service was just right.
Service was excellent. Food was hit or miss. I had the pork tenderloin and it just wasn’t seasoned well. Veggies cooked to perfection but again not seasoned and one bite was horribly over seasoned with Turmeric. (maybe couldn’t put my finger on the flavor.) Shrimp tostada bites were delicious as usual and we all enjoyed our drinks from the bar. Next time I will def order something I’ve had before ie the diablo pasta or mac n cheese but we don’t eat there very often. Didn’t feel worth the trip this time.
We loved Z Tejas. Excellent food and cocktails, and Michael, our server was awesome and knowledgeable about the menu and the cocktails. He gave good suggestions for both!
Ole favorite that doesn't disappointment. When you want some good food and good drinks this is a classic standby. Love that they can accommodate a big group. Fun for brunch, lunch and dinner.
Z'Tejas Austin is a good place to go with a group if you are looking for a casual night out.
Great food and service
Brunch for people from Denver and wasn’t impressed. The potatoes are like tater tots...we absolutely LOVED the waitress!! Don’t remember her name, but she was amazin!!
Z Tejas remains a staple for us for brunch on the Austin scene. It is always an enjoyable dining experience, whether it's for two or, as in our case, seven.
Had brunch at Z’Tejas today. Haven’t been to Austin in awhile and this has always been a great casual restaurant. Had the Bloody Mary build your own bar which has some really good selections to choose from. Two of us ordered the chicken and waffles, which were very good. Could have been a bit spicier for my taste. Another person in our group had the panko crusted chicken salad and she said is was delicious. The other person had the special burrito and also thought it was great. All in all, consistent quality, great menu, and great service.
Wonderful experience. The happy hour is #1 in Austin and it didn’t disappoint! We got the street tacos and they were amazing. We will definitely be coming back soon.
Good visit - although bathrooms pretty gross!
It’s always consistent Lee good the only complaint is that the aC doesn’t ever seem to be working to capacity
We had a great time on a quick trip to Austin for a visit with our daughter. It was a perfect spot for us to visit and chat and the food was absolutely delicious! Our waitress, Blue, was very helpful and proficient.
Service was on point. Our waiter was great. Came in for brunch and bloody mary bar was a bit pitiful. Food was a mixed bag. Jerk chicken salad was over dressed and lettuce was so mushy you would have thought cooked. Breakfast quesadilla was okay but the chicken enchiladas were soggy and over cooked. Used to love this place but won't be back.
Table-side guacamole is not made at the table. It is premade in kitchen except for the seasonings. I like chunky guacamole, hence the order for table side. Instead, it was mashed up.
The margarita I ordered with help from server. The taste was not what we discussed. I ordered a Miller lite and the restaurant was out.
Ordered the grilled trout salad and the fish was delicious. However, the salad was soaked in dressing and not edible.
3 strikes and your out.
Went here for national tequila day- the drinks were good (and cheap) and the food was good but a little bland. Great place for a casual dinner or date night
Wonderfully quiet on a Sunday night. Excellent service and good food
The table in the front room was near a table of screaming young people. Not acceptable. We should have been moved or the table asked to not be so loud. Ruined an otherwise nice dinner.
Great food. Better than the both location.
Ms. Locklear (waitress) was very good. Well done overall
Great food as always!
Love the food. Great service. I’ve been going here on trips to Austin for 30 years. It’s still just as good.
