Great service. You could tell the waitress knew we were on a first date and just made the experience rock.
We were given a horrible table, in back corner against a shelf of restaurant supples, pitchers, wine buckets, napkins. Since we had a reservation and were just about the only people eating, I am not sure why we got such a bad table. Food and service was good, waiter Dustin was very attentive. Very reasonably priced.
Terrible service - 20 mins before we were waved down water to out table and no subsequent voluntary efforts made to refill - Simple food requests landed on table at random times.Overall, zero communication between manager, wait staff, and kitchen staff
We were seated on the patio by the fountain. It was a nice setting. Our waiter was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was amazing. I had a prickly pear margarita which was very good. The brie and the fig jam went very well with the lamb burger. I would recommend this entree. My husband had the special muffaletta sandwich which he enjoyed. The zinc salad was delicious.
We walked in a minute before our reservation and were immediately seated. Wait staff attended us right away, and appeared to enjoy their public. We ordered the grilled shrimp and the lamb burger. Seriously, 15 minutes after sitting, our food was presented. And it was delicious. My wife felt my sweet potato fries were over done, but they are shoestring style and I loved them. The lamb burger was out of this world. Dessert looked good, but we had tickets for a show. I did have the Irish Coffee, and our total bill before tip was under $40. We'll be back, and will bring friends. (Need to come back to taste some different wines.)
The hostess was abrupt seating us, but our waiter was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. It was a beautiful spring evening, and we sat out in the courtyard. We really like the guacamole, but my shrimp with rice was OK. The rice was flavorful, but the shrimp was skewered with too large chunks of green pepper, onions, and baby portabella mushrooms. The tails were left on, meaning a third of the shrimp had to be dug out of the chared exoskeleton. I wish I had gotten a shrimp or two more, minus giant peppers, and that the tarragon butter had been drizzled on the skewered items.
Visited this place twice in two nights. Saw another couple that did the same. Small menu but excellent variety and good proportions. Very good wine list - broad global selection. Service was also incredible - thank you Sarah. Will visit again next time we return to San Antonio
Food made it all. Great wine list. Creative dishes. Enjoyed our shrimp and Zinc salad with salmon. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Bread pudding served with coffee ice cream was TDF!!
Had the calamari and Truffle Parmesan fries were a great start to our dinner, along with the prickly pear margaritas. The Chicken Grilled Ceasar salad, crab cakes and Zinc burger were really, really good. The only disappointment was the Churrascos of grilled shrimp. It comes with mushrooms and they were unable to make a dinner for one of our guests without the mushrooms (allergic) because the recipe is made ahead and the mushrooms are mixed in. They did not have any un-thawed shrimp to make a dish on request.
Our server was very attentive and great fun. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. The shrimp skewers and lamb burger are phenomenal
We were in town for a conference and found it on the internet and close to our hotel It was delicious and the service was amazing!!
Just a couple blocks off the riverwalk...great food, great prices, very comfortable restaurant. Interesting wine selection, good beer choices, well prepared casual food.
Table was ready 30 minutes before reservation. Food and drinks were excellent and staff was friendly.
The main reason I want to write a review is that we had a great waiter: he was attentive while being very busy with larger groups. He also recommended a few restaurants for the next night when I gave him some attributes I was looking for: price range combined with atmosphere.
Great ambiance, food & service for the price range, great value! Loved the table side guacamole!
Extra bonus is the happy hour prices!
This was an unexpected but definitely pleasant discovery. The lamb burger was outstanding and the shrimp was delicious as well. Ambiance depends on where you're seated. The courtyard area is much better than the red room where we were seated, but we still enjoyed the evening.
Superb service, Excellent. food. Will return next time in San Antonio. Extensive wine selection. One of the best resturants we visited while on vac.
Wonderful food, ambience and service!! Great to get off the chaos of the river. I had crab cakes. My husband had shrimp po boy. Excellent prickly pear margarita!
The food and service were very good, but the noise level was too high for us. The previous time I came, it was for lunch and I sat outside, which was delightful.
We visit twice a year during convention events. The service this was time was the worst. Twenty-three minutes to receive our water and drinks. Crazy!
Excellent food and relaxing atmosphere for the weary conventioneer!
I brought my date here thinking it would be a lovely time, however, it was quite the opposite. My date and I were very underwhelmed with the entire experience of food and environment. The only part of the food that was mildly enjoyable was the appetizer and the dessert. The second course was supposed to be a lobster ravioli but then we were notified that they ran out and only offered one thing as a substitute; scallops. The scallops were quite bland and nothing special. The entree we both ordered was the steak and we both asked for medium but when they came out mine was much bloodier than my date’s. Come to find out mine was rare. After dinner my girlfriend was having stomach pain and cramps. She took antacids but that didn’t help at all. She had to take prescription medicine just to make the pain bearable. Overall the experience was horrible, underwhelming, and we shall not return unless otherwise compensated for our visit. Very disappointed.
My husband and I came here for our Valentine’s Day date. It was perfect! Affordable, romantic setting, extensive wine list, and the best filet mignon I’ve ever had!
Valentine’s dinner menu was phenomenal. Quick and outstanding service.
I made reservations for Valentine's day with my wife. We arrived 20 minutes before our reservation time which was 7:00pm. We were immediately seated, but to my dismay, the hostess escorted us to another building leading to a larger room for large groups. We were in the corridor, up against the wall. Imagine sitting in a hallway. Although the food was very good, we waited roughly 45 minutes between our second course and the Main entree, or third course. Overall, we were in the restaurant for approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. I really don't know what I have to do to be seated in the main dining room. (This has only happened once, and the irony is that I didn't have a reservation at that time.) Our table was quiet initially, until the large group began entering through our room to get to the banquet room. Very disappointed!
My husband and I decided to try Zinc Bistro & Wine Bar for Valentine's Day. There was a four-course Valentine's Day special, $45 per person, so we decided to do that. We also bought a few cocktails and truffle fries. The truffle fries were great, the texture of the fries was crispy on the outside and they were paired with a great dipping sauce. The cocktails were all well-made, my favourite was the sangria which contained red wine, liquors, and apple bits. We received a choice of lobster bisque or warm spinach salad (we chose the former, and it was tasty), lobster ravioli, an entree, and a dessert. My choice of entree was the redfish, which had delicious sun-dried tomatoes on top. It was OK, but too salty for me- even with the sweetness of the tomatoes added. My husband's steak (black angus center cut filet) with asparagus and mashed potatoes was perfect. The steak was cooked they way he prefers it (medium) and the mashed potatoes had a great, chive-like seasoning. By the time we descended upon the dessert, I couldn't eat very much. My husband devoured the chocolate box, and enjoyed the hints of citrus/mousse. I would have, as well- if there had been room for it. The service was not good, due the amount of people dining out for Valentine's Day. I think we would have received better service on a normal night.
Awesom Valentine’s Day meal
Always amazing meal. Great service (they allow you to enjoy your meal, not rush you out). Tasty cocktails.
I chose this resturant from the Internet. This was our first visit and everything was great. The food was amazing, we all agreed. Service was exceptional. We had a wonderful Valentine's Celebration. Thank you Zinc Bistro & Wine Bar.
We enjoyed a nice candle lit lunch on Valentine’s Day. The food was great and the service was amazing!
This was my second visit to Zinc, and I am even more in love with this place than before! We visited Zinc for lunch this time, where we started with the Zinc salad with apples and goat cheese. For my entree, I enjoyed the most amazing (and large!) ham, cheese, and tomato on brioche. Surprisingly, there was also asparagus on the sandwich - it was a bit much for me personally, but what an interesting touch! The potato salad tasted great, but was lukewarm in temperature. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be that way or cold. My mother ordered the hummus and pita bread for her entree. It was a beautiful display and tasted even better; 2-alarm is the perfect name as the serrano peppers were definitely hot! I will definitely visit Zinc on future trips to San Antonio.
We love to go to Zinc’s, great atmosphere, always pleasant, food is excellent and they have the best tasting frozen Prickly Pear margarita’s! Highly recommend
Zinc never disappoints. My husband and I prefer it to its sister restaurant Boudros. The prickly pear margaritas are a must for anyone that likes a sweet margarita. Even at almost $11, it’s worth it. We always start with the spicy spinach artichoke au gratin dip. So rich and creamy with a nice kick. At $4 each we both had a salad. I love the Zinc salad with goat cheese. I chose crab cakes for my entree. Nice size and flavor with the sauce. Greens on the side with pear and avocado was an interesting combination. My hubby got the short rib sandwich. The meat was very tender and flavorful with a nice spicy sauce. The bread was a little much so he ate it open face. He really liked the potato salad and house pickles it was served with. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the cool night with the supplied ponchos and patio heaters. Not touristy at all. Highly recommend. Off the Riverwalk but worth it. 2 margaritas, 2 beers, appetizer, 2 salads and 2 entrees... bill was $81. Carmen was a great server. Next time we are in SAT, we will be at Zinc.
great service, great food, welcoming staff. will definitely come again !
We literally stumbled upon this restaurant which is near but not on the ‘River Walk’. Friendly, genuine and helpful staff advised they that the half price bar snacks were still available, and what an option! We had the Calamari and Hummus with a beer and soft drink, fantastic and literally a meal. So good we went back two nights later for an equally enjoyable dinner. Terrific!
Zinc burger is an excellent choice. Try the Southern Belle Spanish red wine aged in bourbon barrel. Nice wine... reasonable price.
Went on a Wed night after work with some girls. I did not expect it to her as busy as it was - glad I made a reservation. I had the Zinc salad and lamb burger which were both yummy. Everyone else likes their dishes as well. Wine was good and the waiter came by just enough to make sure our glasses were full but was not annoying.
Lugar de pretensiones intermedias. Modesto pero aceptable. La ventaja es su horario extendido que permite cenar decentemente a aquellos con hambre después de las 10pm
Very good value for the downtown location. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals.
