The food is the true hero: house specialties like the Dr Pepper Fried Ribs and famous Deviled Eggs are ‘Chef Z’ originals that simply can’t be duplicated by anyone, anywhere. It’s been that way since 2005 and it’s a badge of honor worn proudly.
The wine list features dozens of selections in both the red and white categories (above and under $40 by the bottle) and between $8 and $12 by the glass. Similarly, the craft-beers, specialty cocktails and premium spirits invite repeated sampling.

NOT closed! Don't believe Open Table. They stopped using the Open Table service but they are very much still in business.
Awesome food and service. Very creative menu. Cocktails were excellent too. One of our favorite places in St Pete.
The food here is unbelievable. We as a family could not get enough of the flavors. My wife and I had the ribs and a salad and our kids had the ribs and the shrimp tacos. Like I said the flavors are out of this world, and hat off to the chefs, but we all left hungry due to the portions sizes.
Waitress was fantastic, food was great and good time had by all.
Fantastic, the food menu is so original and delicious!! Highly recommended!! :)
What a great spot--and wonderful food. I've had the Dr Pepper Ribs on my mind since we ate them!!
Our server, Clara, was the BEST! What a sweet young lady and really tried to help us with whatever we needed. I think I may have shorted her on her tip though - not intentionally - only because I'm blonde and math and I don't get along at all! The wine was good, my steak was awesome. The ONLY complaint I have is that my 15-year old ordered the scallops and he only got 4! Needless to say, he was still hungry (he ate off of all of our plates! LOL!!!). But, he said the scallops were good - just not enough of them. I would definitely go back for sure!
Fabulous food creatively presented and prepared, from delicious variations on deviled eggs to various vegetarian and carnivore-friendly small plates to main entrees. Ingredients are clearly fresh, locally sourced and respected, so they come through in all the dishes we tried. Half-off wines on Mondays and a very enticing happy hour ($5 glasses of wine) make this downtown St. Pete destination a repeat and "must try". Service, by the way, was as fantastic as the food.
Great food and drinks. Way over priced
So much better than you imagine. Small menu throws you off but rest assured everything is delicious. Went with a party of five and each dish was aweesome. The atmosphere was trend and comfortable with an interesting back-story. The service was fantastic from hostess to server. It's a must try if in the area.
Great service, food, and atmosphere! Deviled eggs were amazing.
The food here was fantastic. Service was par. Sadly I will not tell anyone to go to this restaurant as the staff turned off the music and began cleaning exactly at closing and we had a large table of people mid-meal. This is unacceptable and very unfortunate considering the quality of the actual meal. The experience was completely soured. Cocktail menu needs help as well.
Great service and ambiance. We had a group of 6, they all enjoyed their food choices. Some felt the choices were limited.
Tooks friends in town here and steak ordered medium came out well done, sent back and came back again pink and raw in the center. Pretty pricey steak to not get cooked correctly
Made a reservation for Easter brunch. Found close by parking, was seated immediately. Restaurant was busy but not packed. We really enjoyed the brunch/lunch food. I had shrimp and grits and my husband had the salmon eggs scamble with goat cheese. Service was attentive without being overly so. A little pricey but definitely worth the splurge.
As always, exceptional food, fantastic service, never a dull experience
I've been here dozens of times -- usually any time I'm in St. Pete -- and it never disappoints. Comfort food with an inventive angle is probably the best description. From scrumptious Dr. Pepper ribs, to their ever-changing flavored deviled eggs, to tacos and fajitas with a twist, this place rocks. Don't leave without trying their perfectly crispy and delicious truffle French fries dusted with Manchego cheese and chives. Great brunch fare as well. One of my top 5 favorite restaurants of all time.
The food was very good. We had a fillet and a rib eye. Great flavor and cooked perfectly. House Cabernet was great too.
Biggest compliant was that they didn't season the steak or chicken in the fajitas...just didn't have the right combination/execution on the entire dish, ...ate at the bar and the service was great but the food was just ok...truffle fries good...
a little pricy great taste it was quiet and fastservice will return t try other items in the menu
DH and I were in St. Pete for work, and decided to go to brunch at Z Grille. It is very convenient to Downtown. It has very modern decor, which could seem sterile but accented with warm colors makes the place seem inviting. The hostess promptly greeted us and because we had a reservation our table was already set. The brunch menu is limited, and there are not a lot of options for substitution. We started with an assortment of deviled eggs. The egg mixture is piped into the egg and accented with garnish. Today's offerings were a buffalo blue cheese, olive and avocado. The olive was actually my favorite ( probably because it reminded me of my mothers egg salad. ) DH had the bacon muffin, which had a mashed potato cake, fried egg, and what we thought was Canadian bacon. It was definitely underseasoned. I had the spinach and kale salad with mushrooms, topped with a fried egg, and a side of pork belly, which was perfectly prepared (crispy on the edges with well renders fat). I also had a Bloody Mary, which was a little weak, but had good flavor. Overall, a good experience.
Ate here before a bachelor party, the deviled eggs are insanely good. Also had the rib eye burger with foie gras, ribs, and the egg and it was possibly the best burger I've ever had. Little bit pricy but worth it, and the chairs weren't super comfortable. Besides that it was amazing. 10/10 would recommend
We always have a nice time when we eat at Z Grill. The service was excellent and the food is very consistent and provides a diverse menu.
The best restaurant in St Pete!!! Everything from the apps to entrees are delicious! The specials are to die for! Tonight the fish spread and BBQ pork chili specials were off the charts! You won't be disappointed with your meal!
As a newly developing foodie going out of my way as often as possible for delicious, inventive meals, Z Grille stands out as the best overall experience with the most incredible food I've had in four years of living in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. The decor was modern and unique, our server Dustin was an absolute delight and the food was nothing short of mind-blowing. Z Grille = #1 with no hesitation
Always the best choice downtown! I've never been disappointed. The food is outstanding, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere is the best. The are always mixing up the menu and wine selection. Ask for the daily specials! Dining for one or a large group you will have a great time! I absolutely LOVE Z Grille!!!!
We went before the YES concert at the Mahaffey. It was our 2nd time and the food and service remains incredible. We love the deviled eggs. Wonderful place !!
I found based on Open Table reviews. Food was great and people were awesome. The time we were there they were a little short handed but I am sure it was just a fluke.
Try it out.Food is good.
Good food. Menu could be expanded and seating uncomfotable; no cusion seats anywhere in restaurant. Otherwise, great for a quick bite! And the service was superb!
I heard about this place from a customer of mind. My Wife a Chef in her own, loves finding family/private owned places to dine. Z Grille meets that requirement with Husband and Wife running the place. Good food, service was fly by, and when we tried to spark a conversation with owner to compliment her, she blew us off with a smile. Then we had to talk over the handheld vacuum for 15 mins to finish our drinks. Did not complete the experience.
A real disappointment. Some good reviews and a recommendation but a bad experience. Friday evening at 7:30 the place was at most half full. Hostess was gone so a waitress showed s to a table. Modern plastic seats and table. More like cafeteria seating. The waitress comes over and we order drinks. She mis-described a local brew (a stout but it was chocolate). We order an appetizer and she keeps coming over for a dinner order even after we tell her we will wait until we get the appetizer. I mean the place is not even crowed and it seems she is trying to turn it over ASAP. Appetizer of lamb and veal meatballs were fine. I ordered the special of two lobster tails and my wife orders the tacos. Dinner arrives and the two lobster tails are the size of medium shrimp! I thought they brought the wrong meal. The polenta was way over cooked and the tacos were really just tacos, nothing worth the money. We finish and we now can't seem to get the bill! With all the fine restaurants in downtown St. Pete don't bother about this one.
This place is awesome. From the moment we arrived, Dana treated us like old friends. The drinks were incredible, the deviled eggs and Dr. Pepper Ribs were to "die for". The brunch menu was limited, but not a bad meal in the bunch. I had the foie burger and truffle fries were outstanding. This is a "foodies haven", a must do in St. Pete.
I do realize it was new years eve. As far as our meal the pasta and lobster had a nice flavor but the quantity was small and the lobster was very tiny under cooked and had the texture of rubber bands. The wine was decent and I do realize you get what you pay for. My wife ordered the grouper and it was well prepared and flavorful but the serving size? Our baitfish in Minnesota would presented her with a larger portion! Our server was very good that was probably the best part of our dining experience at Z grill. Little over hyped and pricey in our opinion. Went and had a piece of Pizza after with the funds we had left to fill up a bit.
Incredible New Years Eve meal. Special menu was perfect.
Z Grille was best a couple of years ago. They constantly change the menu. ( do keep a few favorites)
They use to charge for bread, now you can't even pay for it. Just feels like something special is missing.....because it is.
Wine list is very nice.
Service is always great.
Great food. Dr. Pepper ribs and deviled eggs somehow lived up to the hype. The foie gras burger was outstanding as well!
I'm not one to leave negative reviews but this place was sooooo bad. I will say the apps were pretty good...then the wheels came off the meal. The server was completely apathetic. We didn't find out we weren't getting two items that we ordered because they ran out of them until our meal was brought to the table. Out of five entrees (three of which were tacos...how do you ruin tacos?!?), four were terrible. The shrimp tasted like cold rubber. The salad was embarrassing. In summation, skip this place.
Must order deviled eggs and fish special. We call the chef the fish magician. We've been eating here for years and have probably had 50 or more different fish preparations - all creative, all delicious. Enjoy!
Try the Deviled Eggs and scallops. The corn jalapeños polenta was amazing.
Went to Z-Grille in advance of show at Mahaffey, which is within walking distance. Son and I both had a pasta special that delighted us both. Excellent flavor combinations, special textures, and more interesting than we've enjoyed in a long time. Enjoyed the outdoor seating and rapid service. Both desserts were quite good, and -- again -- culinarily interesting; not the "same old stuff". Inside is ultra modern and we expect quite noisy, but outside was just right. Definite recommendation for food lovers.
