    Spicy delight! The mapo tofu is amazing, and they have some excellent chowmein for the folks not so great with spice. Service was indifferent, felt like we were bothering them with our questions. I guess if you include a mandatory 18% gratuity, there's not much incentive to make it a friendly experience for the customer. The food makes up for it though.

    Adult party of 6 - everyone of us that all the dishes was so amazing . Tofu substitutes was spectacular. Very vegetarian friendly! My Highest recommendations to Z and Y restaurant

    Only thing noted was the NO TIPPING notice on the menu, but 16% service charge tacked on (along with a 4% S.F. mandated charge) on the bill. Also CHARGED us for the boxes and bag used for takehome. Should just raise the menu prices & do away with the service charge.

    The food was delicious, and the service was fast. This was in spite of the fact that the place was packed. The restaurant is small, and furnished simply. However, there was a line down the block, and the restaurant next door was only half full. This is all about the food quality, and we agree that the food was great! Having a reservation was key to getting seated on a timely basis.

    This restaurant is so incredible. We always eat here when we come to San Francisco and we always say the same:this is so good. We recommend the live fish, the hot and sour tofu soup, the beans and the steaming hotpot. Simply excellent

    This is my go to when it comes to Chinese food in San Francisco! I have to eat at least 1 meal here every time I visit the city. The cold pork in garlic sauce appetizer is an absolute must! It’s cooling and melts in your mouth. Also, the braised oxtail hotpot, sautéed pea shoots in garlic, tan tan noodles, duck, scallion pancakes, and spicy pork dumplings are on my list of favorites on the menu. If you like spicy, then you have to have the octopus hot pot! There are 3 different kinds of chili and they all hit you in different ways! I can’t say enough about how much I ❤️ this place! Suggest you bring friends and family since you certainly get your money’s worth. Perfect for sharing

    Very disappointing after so many great reviews. Restaurant was packed. Kids were not welcome. Staff was too busy & not helpful. Do not order the Peking Duck at this restaurant. My first experience and it was not the one I dreamed about.

    Too popular. They can’t control the crowds. Sat for 30 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Ten more minutes to get water and wine. Food began arriving one hour after seating. Duck order got lost and never appeared…

    Food was delicious but tried calling the restaurant 3 times to let them know we were running late and couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Once we arrived, we barely missed our window and they have our table away so we had to wait to get seated. We noticed the hostess had the phone right on her waist so not sure why no one picked up. Once we got seated though; we enjoyed the food

    Awesome! Went with a group for a birthday celebration and had an absolute blast. The crew was friendly and fun, the food delicious. Just a great experience! Highly recommend for informal celebrations.

    It was always fun to come here for a group lunch on the weekend. The food is delicious as always. We made a reservation for our large group, and we ordered lots of food and drinks. They started to clean the table after 1 hour 20 minutes, even though we plan to order more good, we were told our table is only for 90 minutes, that was slightly disappointing

    Great food! Always a favorite! Long wait though, reservations if possible. Got in at 5:45 with out issue - 20 minutes later it was a mad house.

    We ordered food, and each dish came out separately, and we didn't get our rice until the end of our meal. The only time we had any service is when we raised our hands. Our drinks were never filled. The food tasted wonderful, but I wouldn't go again because receiving each dish as it's available isn't really a great dining experience. We were also charged an auto tip of 20%, which I didn't agree with since the only service we received was dropping off our food—an expensive meal.

    Absolutely incredible food, fast service once we sat down. Place was packed the whole time but the food was perfect at every course. Hot & Sour Soup was the star of the meal if we had to pick. Definitely coming back

    We are a group of 4 attending a conference in San Francisco. I liked the reviews in Trip Advisor on this restaurant, so we decided to try it out. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero. The restaurant was within walking distance of the hotel - a relatively flat walk to get there. The Chinatown neighborhood is exciting at night. We decided to go early on a Thursday night so the restaurant was not too crowded. We had reservations for 6 p.m. but they were able to accommodate us early when we arrived around 5:30 p.m. The service was excellent, and the staff were very kind. The food was great although one in our party got a dish so spicy that she could not eat it (Spicy Chicken with Peppercorns in Clear Broth soup). We had fair warning that it was very, very, very hot and it was. My dish of Kung Po Chicken was really tasty. My wife had Orange Chicken. It was terrific and mild. We had a cucumber salad which was also enjoyed by every one of us. We liked that it had a bit of a bite to it. The best dish in terms of presentation was the Creamy Prawns with Honey Walnuts. We felt like we were somewhat on a Halloween Movie Set when it arrived at the table - very fun and exceptionally tasty. This was a very highly recommended restaurant, and it exceeded our expectations - a "must visit" place to eat.

    Dinned there many times. We recently found out that they automatically include 16% gratuity and 4% for healthcare. We all know the state is corrupt but we were not told gratuity was added. What a dirty way to make money. Since service is ok but the people are rude 16% is way too high. Won’t be going back there. Restaurant should push back for the SFHC tax and or build in their menu.
