Chinese
Yauatcha Soho, located in the heart of vibrant London, is an all-day dim sum teahouse offering a wide selection of modern authentic dim sum alongside European patisserie and an extensive range of teas, wine and cocktails. The design of the restaurant is a modern interpretation of the old Chinese teahouse. At the same time, the lighting and seating embodies the atmosphere of a vibrant ‘chatter shop’, similar to the traditional Hong Kong dim sum restaurants. The restaurant offers Cantonese dishes with a modern influence, with an extensive range of steamed, baked, grilled and fried dim sum such as Yauatcha’s signature dishes of Scallop shui mai and Venison puffs.

Good food but terrible service - the food took over an hour to arrive and then before we had finished our meal the manager told us we had to leave because the next table sitting was arriving.

When we tried to explain that the reason we were still eating is because the food took so long to arrive he was extremely rude and shoved a bill in our face along with his card ‘if we had any complaints’.

Dim sum and main dishes are excellent, the danger is over ordering as plates are quite generous and you want to try everything! We were seated in the bar area which lacks a bit of atmosphere but is fine if you don't want to stay for too long. If the bar had been busier it would have been a little noisy.

I arrived before my son and asked the receptionist to direct him to our table when he arrived. ten minutes later he phoned me as he was kicked out!! The staff were very rude. We waited over 15 minutes then ordered our own drinks. The service was extremely slow and when the main course arrived it was cold.

Total indifference and appalling customer service, I did not pay the service charge.

Overall the food was great but the service today was poor. It started with our table for 6 barely being able to squeeze 5 on it. However, they fixed that after asking a coup log times. Then we had to constantly try and find someone to top up our water and pour the rest of our wine (it wasn’t near the table).

To be fair, I’ve eaten there before and the service has been significantly better. So it must have just been a bad time for them. Still, when your paying a premium for the food/restaurant, your expectations of service is higher.

Overall experience was quite nice, the food was tasty as usual, however the service was not living up the standards, the staff looked miserable and didn’t want to be there. Come on, if you decided to be waiter/waitress, please be precessional about it, if you didn’t enjoy your job, just change it, it’s not very pleasant for the customer trying to enjoy a meal when it was served by a bunch of miserable people.

Very noisy, unfriendly and unavailable staff. The crispy duck was indeed very crispy, but very dry too . We would have appreciated some advice on the size of the portions....

I love this restaurant but it wasn’t the usual experience. Some of the food arrived almost cold and the service was a little chaotic. But will definitely go back because normally the food is impeccable.

Poor service - seated at table, but not offered to take our coats/ give any menus. Bill error adding £15 which was then stated as a menu fault and so we would be liable. Meant to have 2 hour window, but at an hour 20 told they wanted the table back in 10 minutes, despite not bringing one of our party's mains yet. Poor service and ruined what could have been a good meal.

We decided to go a la carte instead of the special offer menu.

Food was good but service was a bit of a let down. Not up to the standard experienced in their Broadgate Circle restaurant.

If you allow diners 2 hours for their bookings then please stick to that and don’t rush people off their table. Waiter tried to clear the table before we were finished with 30minutes to spare and came back as we put the last morsel in our mouths. Then we got the bill without asking.

It was a terrible experience! The food came out in the worst way horribly timed and in a ridiculous order mains such as rice and noodles before softer starters like duck pancakes. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive after order. The waiter kept trying to rush people out saying that they had a staff party to attend. It was a truly disappointing situation the service was appalling and the dinner was a horrid experience had to take the food away in take away packs. Could not eat there anymore and the food I did eat was just average.

I would definitely recommend it to a friend, however because of the food. The music is too loud to be possible to have a proper conversation, and is a restaurant where people from all range of ages go to. In addition, the service is not at the level of the food.

My partner and I had a lovely meal here. Staff were all friendly and welcoming, and gave excellent advice over the amount of food we needed to order! The okra, aubergine and green beans were fantastic, and the ribs just melted off the bone. The only disappointing thing is that we couldn't eat more! We will certainly be back for the duck!

Chose the signature menu @ £60 per person but felt it poor value - would recommend to choose from the a la carte to have more variety. Service only adequate for the supposed high end restaurant - for example items from the next course were brought to the table before we had finished the previous, and poor considering the 13% service charge. On a positive note the food itself was very tasty and! - Given the number of other similar restaurants in the Soho area we would probably not visit a second time.

Most of our food was delicious - though I would give the Edamame dumplings and Chilli squid a miss. However, the whole meal was ridiculously overpriced. We ended up paying £72 for 6 dim sum dishes between us. The most disappointing thing was that as soon as we sat down we were asked if we wanted water and were charged £9 a bottle! This is a trick that we are used to avoiding in countries like Italy but I have never known it to be played in the UK and we feel extremely cheated. Looking around the restaurant at least 50% of the tables had this bottled water on their table and I find it hard to believe that many would have been willing to pay £9 for it. Also, the water was not on the drinks menu so you had no idea how much it would be until the bill arrived. The included 13% service charge was the highest I've ever known and the whole experience just made us feel like we'd been taken for a ride.

Poor service. Late table allocation. We were not offered a drink on the house while waiting. We had to request the table we had booked instead of being given the first one which was free. Issues with the toilets meant we had to use the toilets next door at Duck and Rice. Considering the bill it was very very poor. Better service in Chinatown dim sum.

In the past this was our favorite place to return to each time we visited London. Our last visit will be just that, our last. The place has lost its edge. The food was okay, not great as it had been in the many years that we have dined there. We could get that quality of food at any number of places. The service was chaotic with too many servers standing about, not enough management and a bewildering mix up on every course. We blame the training staff. The servers were pleasant, they just didn't know what to do or how to do it. There was a malfunction in the lights when we arrived and it felt like we were eating under a spotlight. We asked for it to be turned down, but we told there was a problem. By the end of our meal the lights had dimmed, but our anticipated relaxing experience had been ruined. Great pity. We have recommended Yauatcha to hundreds of people. Now we will warn them off.

Excellent food as expected.
Service left much to be desired. It was patchy (our order for drinks was forgotten) and slightly irritating (our waitress asked at least 4 times whether we had any food allergies. Why ask more than once?)
Disabled access to toilets was appalling. We were taken downstairs by a service lift that had customers’ coat rack in it and was clearly meant for goods, not people.
The above is not what one would expect from a premium restaurant like Yauatcha. Disabled access to toilets shouldn’t consist of a goods’ lift that doubles as the restaurant’s coat check.
Food, excellent. Everything else: lacking greatly.
Yauatcha needs to up its game in the areas mentioned above. Most disappointing

I would say 50% of our guests were disappointed with their main meal. The dim sum was amazing but the chef’s recommended meal wasn’t great - the noodle dish with prawns and scallops. They didn’t see why there was a chef’s specialty. Atmosphere was great and the service was fab.

Chose this restaurant as they have good vegan options however when I ordered the vegan tofu I was told it was dry. Alright, tofu can be dry so I asked for some hoi sin on the side (which is usually vegan) and got told they don't do sauce on the side? and that is has oyster sauce in it?? For an establishment that comes out with 2 sauces and some pickled cucumber before we even order, how can you not do sauce on the side when you've literally just bought me sauce on the side. I was so excited to eat here and even cast aside the price point (as being vegan the options are always sparce) however I dissapointed with the fact that I could have made better food at home. The only redemption of the night was the mushroom dim sum.

Poor value for money. The scallop dumplings were good, but all of the other dishes we had were extremely greasy - the broccoli so much so that we couldn’t eat it. Overall the food was ok, but certainly not worth the prices charged. The ambience of the restaurant was great, informal and friendly. The tables and chairs were uncomfortably low, even for me someone of my height (5 feet 4 inches). I wouldn’t return.
