Yauatcha City
Yauatcha City is an all-day dim sum teahouse, where friends and family gather to catch up over a wide selection of dim sum, wok dishes, tea and cocktails. To complement the cuisine, the drinks menu comprises nearly 40 types of tea, as well as cocktails inspired by Chinese ingredients and a broad wine and Champagne list.
Yauatcha’s first standalone patisserie, Yauatcha Patisserie, is located just below the restaurant, where Chinese heritage and modern European cooking techniques have inspired the pastry team to create a range of unique macarons, petits gateaux and chocolates.
This was the second time we went to Yauatcha City. They were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed with bookings. The table was not ready when we arrived at 8:15pm, our drinks took 30min to get to our table, our starters (from the set menu booked on Open table) 1h. At 10:15pm we still had not got all our main course. In the end, they also had run out of their famous cakes which was part of the set menu and we got macaroons instead. The waiter was nice and apologetic but they experience was very disappointing.
Had a lovely meal on Tuesday evening. Special mention to the French speaking waiter who provided excellent service throughout. Unfortunately I didn’t get hold of his name but having staff like him really makes a difference to the experience. He provided great knowledge on the dishes and was available regularly despite the restaurant being extremely busy. Would recommend overall.
i had been before to Yauatcha Soho and I had really good memories. their City branch did not live up to those memories. Food was quite avarage, not bad but definitely not remarkable and most of all not worth the price tag. Also the restaurants completely lacks that nice atmosphere of the Soho branch. they sat us in the Bar area despite I had specifically chosen the restaurant sitting area. When I raised it with the manager he simply said there was nothing he could have done. not going back
Yauatcha is consistently good. The dim sum is really what I go for and it's among the best I've had in London. The Festive menu had some nice little touches to it but didn't veer too far from their usual winning formula. It was a busy lunch service, being the last opportunity before London went into Tier 3 lockdown, so it did feel a little cramped, but precautions were clearly being taken in terms of cleaning, hygiene, enforcing masks etc.
Feel safe and looked after. more then enough serving staff. food and drinks great. Lobster dampling and mango parfait a bit disappointing.
My partner took me here for my birthday. I joined the whole experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the waiters were so very nice. We will definitely be going back!
Excellent food experience, unfortunately ruined by a pathetic service: bare minimum in terms of staff courtesy, never easily available when needed (despite place being half-full) and most annoyingly, staff needed to be continuously asked to clear plates from the table.
One would expect much much better service from such a high-end venue.
Yauatcha is my favourite place to eat so it pains me to say this but my experience was so bad I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the City Resturant. We got to the desk upstairs and waited 5 odd minutes before anyone even said hello to us, then we were taken to a table which was freezing cold, the floor was wet as it was by the back door not to mention it was freezing as the back door was open. Oh, and it was next to the toilet door (this should not be a dining area, the smell was foul). We asked to move and waited 15 minutes only to then be moved to Bar seating which was not nice as this was a business meal and I had specifically booked (standard seating). Service was very slow, the waiter didn’t know the menu very well and they took forever to bring us our cutlery / napkin. I ordered off a set menu plus a dozen other dishes for the table and the only thing they could offer for the set menu was a frozen un thawed out chocolate sorbet. (This should NOT be classed as a signature desert). It was overall very appalling and I feel like I have been robbed of my money.
The whole night was just a shambles, I spend a lot of money in the Soho restaurant and visit at least 3 times a month. Taking my clients here was embarrassing.
Food was great. High table we sat on wasn’t good as it was next to the doors and the waiters kept going in and out without closing the doors. Sat down on the table and not a single person came to us to give us a menu or take drinks orders. I had to actually get someone’s attention as I was becoming irate
Be aware!
I booked in the City restaurant that I didn't know it existed and went to the Soho one by mistake. They couldn't accommodate me on that one so I tried to call the other one to cancel but went into voicemail. Anyway, they charged me 100£ for not showing up. I think it's absolutely abusive and I hope nobody else makes the same mistake
I went there with a group of friends to celebrate a friends 30th birthday. The food was amazing, however the initial service was quite poor and very slow. Things improved toward the end of the evening.
Quieter location than soho hut not as atmospheric
Food still great, especially the teas and the venison puff
Generally good COVID precautions but blatant household mixing inside which was very worrisome- need to do more than just ask and allow them all in
Definitely visiting there again. I love everything about the place! Yauatcha city is the best!
Had a great time dining on the terrace
Amazing customer service, from the moment i entered.
Definitely an experience - quality of the food and service was very good. Pricing of some dishes simply off the scale though......
Excellent food & service A+
Excellent food and service as always. Was very quiet but it was a Monday and of course in lockdown but always worth a visit
A great evening had, been before and will go back.
Service was slow even though it seemed half full, which was disappointing.
Cocktails were awesome as was the food.
Food was pretty good overall as expected from Yauatcha. We had a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options which were both cooked well (perhaps with the exception of the pok har gao which felt a little undercooked).
From a drinks perspective, the Szechuan margherita was truly excellent and a must try.
While there are quite a few veg options, they were pretty mushroom heavy - so if you're vegetarian, you'll need to enjoy mushrooms.
We ate outside in the terrace area which had overhead table heaters which are pretty decent to keep the top half of the body warm, however a few extra floor standing heaters would have definitely been useful to keep the area toasty
Overall a good experience and would go back again
Amazing service and food was fantastic. Would 100% recommend.
Not worth the price. Set menu was average and some dishes were cold
Food was very disappointing.!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was over seasoned.!!!!!
I love this place!
Felt a bit strange this time as clearly not as busy and lost a bit of its normal lively atmosphere but still had a great time with great food and drink.
The food was good, but the hot drinks were disappointing - an espresso arrived looking more like an Americano, and the green tea tasted burnt, as though it was brewed with boiling water and/or brewed for too long.
Fabulous food! Great service. Congratulations to all the team in these difficult times
They moved our table... toilets were disgustingly dirty.... service was awful.... sent back our food several times as it was freezing cold... all round disaster. What a shame.
The service was very good, but most of the food just not that good as we expected.
Normally I love going here, but this visit was a shambles. It took 50 minutes to get a drink. Service was Terrible. They overcharged us on the bill.
The food was amazing and well priced. It’s a cute spot for catch ups.
Only negative I would say are the cocktails, we ordered two pornstar martinis and they were really poorly made. The drink was separating and very weak. It was a big disappointment, other then that it was a great experience.
I had a terrible experience at Yauatcha , even the nice food couldn’t make up for it. The service I received was extremely poor and the way I treated simply unfair. I eat at Michelin star restaurants regularly and have never been mistreated as I was on Monday. I booked a standard seated table and was placed on a bar type table without being given a reason as to why. I confronted the woman who was in charge of the tables and politely asked for an explanation and a reason, she responded to me with a very argumentative tone and was not interested in what I had to say and told me if I waited for a table it could be up to 30 minutes and I may not even be able to order food. Luckily I noticed someone leaving and pointed it out to my waitor and he kindly moved me. The glasses that my water was served in were not washed properly and I will attach an image showing this. I will never visit this particular Yauatcha again.
Amazing dim sum as always. Highly recommend. Roll on the end of lockdown!
I had a delicious lunch and remembered how great the dim sum at Yauatcha are! perfect weekend lunch/brunch escape
Really lovely evening staff were fantastic. Especially as we had a dietary requirement. Brilliant
Food 10 out of 10
Location a little hard to find
Service very good
We love it here, a great place to go with friends to eat and catch up. The food is delicious as are the pornstar martini.
Very slow to bring our champagne to start with and asked 3 times if we wanted it ?! Dined on the £42 pp menu but everything had an additional charge. However , the food was faultless as always so a super luncheon.
Thank you Yauatcha City, very attentive service and will be back!
Food was nice but came cold. Quite overpriced.
great service, I don't think I asked the waiter's name but he was really pleasant. The food is always good it never fails. Tried the little desserts for the first time which were also great. Only slight criticism I would have would be the club music playing, would be better with the volume a little lower especially as we were sitting outside to be able to talk a little more. Apart from that t
