Amazing as always!!
Our very favorite place for Sunday brunch in Austin.
Never disappoints! Food was great and soup dumplings were amazing as always.
First impressions were not great. When we walked in, there were four people at the host stand and no one greeted us, no one even looked up. I understand that there are fires to put out on busy nights but saying nothing as guests enter feels distasteful. We were finally asked how we could be helped and were brought to our table. Passing by several dirty tables on our way felt gross. We sat at our table for a good five minutes until we were greeted by our server, Alex. Her attitude towards us felt burdensome as she had a large table just sitting down.
This being our first time at Wu-Chow and Lunar New Year, I expected a brief explanation or description of the menu and how to order. No recommendations were given and we were made aware that items were unavailable after we ordered, which felt frustrating. Infrequent check ins fueled the frustration as well.
The food was incredible. I was disappointed we didn’t get the dumplings, something I would have wished our server would have highlighted on the menu.
All in all it was an okay experience and we will be back, hopefully with improvements in their service.
ALL OUR CHOICES WERE FANTASTIC. ENJOY A GREAT EVENING OF ASIAN CUSIENE.
Went to the Sunday dim sum brunch and had an amazing time! The waitstaff was friendly and attentive to our needs, and the food was Excellent! This is definitely going to be one of my go to restaurants whenever I visit Austin!
The attention to detail was fantastic. Our wait staff was extremely attentive. It was a wonderful experience.
Great food---friendly service. Four seniors that enjoyed the evening
Food was excellent, service was stupendous and friendly. The old-fashioned were a little sweet for my liking, but overall I enjoyed my meal. We shared everything (4 people) and got a couple of appetizers and 4 entrees. Not one item disappointed in regards to flavor. I will definitely be back when craving high-flavor, high-quality asian food.
Great service, funny host, attentive server, fantastic food, quick food service
Casual staff/service given the price point of the food
Awesome service! Fast, friendly staff. Dumplings are to die for. Cocktails awesome but expensive. Interesting wine list.
Love this place because of GF options - and the food is delicious. The ambiance is also very cool. But this place has a lot to be desired. They serve you all the food in whatever which way - appetizers arriving with entrees and some entrees coming way later. It almost feels like they throw the food on the table vs making it an enjoyable dining experience with paced food service. The plates that you eat from are TINY and make it awkward to feel comfortable. Chopsticks can not be put down on the small plate so you have to hold them or lay on table or they fall imbalanced on the floor. It’s just weird why they use such small “dinner” plates. Finally, the cocktail menu has some interesting options but none of them that we tried were likable. One member of our group even knew to “pre game” at home because their alcohol menu is such a miss. I think we will only go here again for lunch.
Great service - dishes were average.
Never disappointed. Absolutely fantastic food
Best soup dumplings in North America
Always great!
I understand it's COVID time but be less rude about the whole situation. Be kind when reminding people about masks. I understand there is a capacity limit, but work with your customer don't be rude.
This is my second time visiting here and it’s literally my favorite restaurant. Great food and great vibes!
Wu chow is absolutely amazing!! Our waitress recommended we choose this thing where they bring out different chosen courses by the chef for our party of 8. Every single dish was amazing and extremely fun to see what dishes we would get!
Delicious food! Server was knowledgeable
We've been wanting to try Wu Chow since moving to Austin - each time you walk or drive by the aroma in the air is intoxicating! Finally went last night for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. We started with the Shanghai Soup Dumplings, "Never Ever" Beef Potsticker and Pork Dumplings - by far the pork dumplings were the best! Incredible flavor, all around superb. I think for the soup dumplings, you're better off going to Lin or Qi. For the main course, we split the Crispy Sesame Beef and Wu Chow Special Fried - both were delicious. Portions were more generous than expected, so for just 2 people we left stuffed and with a to-go bag. Overall friendly service, everyone was very attentive to each table - as soon as a plate was done, staff was ready to clear it from your table to make room for more. Very chic ambiance, especially for a casual city like Austin. Absolutely loved the wall of Mahjong pieces, great touch!
This is our go-to birthday place. Our family of five loves sharing dishes and we've yet to try something on the menu that isn't fantastic. Waitstaff is attentive and helpful.
Great f 2 f food, tasty and nice ambiance!
The food is so tasty here and the ambiance is ideal. By far one of my favorite places to dine when in Austin.
Great first time experience!
Absolutely wonderful experience as always. Our favorite bartender, Sarah is ABOVE AND BEYOND wonderful. She makes the experience a 10 every single time... knows my husband and I by name, our drinks that we order, and even my allergies and preferences. She is a rockstar and deserves all of the recognition in the world. Wu Chow is lucky to have her on their team, and she showed my friends and I a wonderful NYE. Food was phenomenal and we had the best seat in the house (circle booth) Rebecca at the hostess stand was kind enough to call me back when availability for a bigger group opened up and really made our evening wonderful. Thanks for the best time ringing in the New Year.
Second time here, first time during covid, food was great, eating outside while raining and cold was surprisingly comfortable, would highly recommend any time of year!
Wu Chow was amazing! Cool vibe and music. Nice covered outdoor area. Food came out super fast and was SO GOOD. Staff were attentive and gave good recommendations. Definitely will be going back!
Our meal was amazing from start to finish. The food was packed with flavor, great ambiance and the service was impeccable. 100% repeat!
Very nice,cool atmosphere.Food & service was excellent,very enjoyable visit!
Our favorite spot to go for Christmas dinner! Love the volcano shrimp, sautéed bok Choy & mushrooms, spicy green beans, and fried rice. Great service and drinks every time too!
Everything was great. Service. Good. Atmosphere. Thank yoi so much
The food was really the only good experience here, but I don't buy the hype on this place including their famed dumplings. Stuffed for sure but rather tasteless. There's so many better Chinese/fusion places around Austin. When I arrived for my reservation, the restaurant was pretty sparse. They still found it acceptable, though, to seat my party at the table directly next to someone else. No social distancing which is ironic considering that was their excuse on not letting us move to another table. Red flag no. 1. Our waitress was nice, until a bigger party of more affluent looking guests sat down. Her attention turned there the rest of the meal and it was like pulling teeth to get anything (refills, a box, the pot of tea she forgot for over 20 minutes). I very much felt prejudged for how much money/worth I had as a customer by how I dressed. Overall it wasn't a good experience and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The best thing that happened all night was how pleasantly surprising the amount of beef inside the tangerine peel beef had.
The reason why I rated how I did is because the food was good but there could’ve been more
Also if we needed to be outside fine , but please keep in mind it was cold and there should’ve been more heaters
Wonderful option for Christmas Eve dinner!
Waiter was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. Do have heaters outside if you are dining outside. Specialty cocktails were also yummy!
It was pretty loud inside the restaurant, but the food was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding.
Our first time at Wu Chow and will go again. Our waitress, Gabriella, was excellent. Cocktails are very good and the food was incredible. We tried so many dishes and the soup dumplings, recommended by Gabriella, were fantastic!
