Founded in 2013 by Davin and Jessica Waite, Wrench & Rodent is a space for culinary exploration and collaboration. This cozy, eclectic restaurant quickly became a destination for those who appreciated Chef Davin’s creative approach to celebrating local and responsibly sourced fish and produce.

In addition to a set sushi menu, Wrench offers an omakase as well as a list of specials that change daily. The team is committed to reducing waste and enhancing flavor by elevating all cuts of fish and veggies, as well as featuring a diverse range of species. Many menu items are simple, fresh and creative, with a lesser-known fish species complimented by ingredients from the backyard garden. Byproduct utilization drives the menu as well, and recent explorations with aging techniques have led to a dry aged fish program. Plant-forward preparations are also celebrated, and a vegan omakase is available upon request.

A sushi bar experience with Chef Davin Waite. Hosted inside Wrench & Rodent Seabasstropub on Monday and Tuesday nights, this limited seating format allows for an up-close and personal experience reminiscent of the early days of Wrench. Since opening their first restaurant together more than a decade ago Davin and Jess have come full circle, building multiple acclaimed restaurants (and closing a few), only to realize how much they crave the intimacy and connection of a small dining room. Waite & Sea is a hyper-local and hands-on answer to this calling for connection. The menu will consist of 12+ courses designed to excite, inspire and challenge diners. For those who crave it, a lively conversation will evolve around the tenants of sustainability featured in the meal, the reverence for cultural tradition embedded in their ethos, and a rally cry for a bold new future of food. Part tasting menu, part food lab, and full of Davin Waite debauchery, Waite & Sea is a rebellious journey in a two hour dining experience.

Service was the best part of the visit. I loved the seared swordfish nigiri only thing I really enjoyed from the experience . Overspent on a very salty subpar omakase experience. They give you a good amount of food for 90 bucks a person but not worth it when it’s really lacks in a depth of flavors from great selections of fish. Sadly not a place I would visit again living in the area.

Fried rice is more of a veggie stir fry with rice. The crispy rice was good. The chicken was blasted with pepper. I had to separate the chunks of pepper on the chicken. The sushi pieces were barely dressed and each piece needed something more. For the price, I'd recommend going somewhere else. I was pretty disappointed here overall for the price and taste or food.

Food was incredible. Service was sub par. She forgot a lot of things, water, soy sauce, ginger, wasabi, and two drinks that were ordered. Otherwise food and ambiance were incredible

This was definitely one of our best dining experiences. Great food, fair prices. My partner and I are such fans of lava cake, though, that we wish lava cake was a dessert option. Also, they do serve desserts, which they should mention on the website—we had the cobbler and it was REALLY good (just not lava cake 😀). We will definitely be back!
