Had an excellent meal. Prices, due the area and quality, we're good. Prime rib was the best I've had anywhere. Service was also great.
Wasn’t overly impressed but the location was amazing!!!
Worthy of the name, excellent location and great food.
Our family of four celebrated my daughter’s year anniversary of her surgery to remove her cancerous tumor. We not only enjoyed our food but our whole dining experience was extremely special. The server was knowledgeable, sincere and helped make our experience even more special and celebratory. We would definitely recommend World Famous.
Great food, service is usually pretty good at dinner time, hit and miss for lunch depending on how busy they are. The noice level is worse at lunch. Supper in our opinion is the best time and the dinner menu is really good. The Sea Bass is absolutely fabulous as is the Key Lime Cheese Cake! Must try!
Awesome location in San Diego
We had a wonderful meal. After 39 years of family Christmases our family was scattered throughout the USA. We our adult single son is off to new adventures in 2019 and might not get to be with us next year, so we decided to leave the mountains of Utah for California sun. We had dinner at World Famous a few years back, so I made the reservation for World Famous at the same time I did our plane reservations. The hostess seated us at a window so we got to enjoy the remnants of the sunset. Our cocktails and wine were excellent, the food excellent and the service excellent. We all agreed it was the best meal we had had in some time. Thank you for helping us start a new tradition. We will return!
It's one of our favorite places to take friends. We always order the calamari from the bar menu to start our meal off. Food was great.
Our waiter Graham was the best. He took the evening from a 3 to a 5! He was personable, attentive, helpful and really made an effort to make our dinner great! The food was good (our chowder for luke warm) and our portions were as expected. It was a great ending to our vacation in PB.
Great crab cakes and lobster bisque!
The waitress was great! Knowledgeable about the food. The sun was going down. They had heaters on the covered porch which allowed us to sit there. The Drunken Mermaid cocktail was great. Nice change from NJ.
The food was huge portions and I took almost all my prime rib home. Great breakfast! Well worth the price and an easy Lyft away from our hotel.
I was actually surprised by this place. They have a ocean view so I figured either the food would suck or it would be super expensive. The food was really good, and the prices were the same as everywhere else. We also ordered drinks and they were reasonably priced too. I would recommend eating here if you want some good seafood. Our server Caitlin was also great!
Birthday lunch for my friend who met her husband here about 20 yrs ago.
Excellent prime rib. Potato wrapped covina (sea bass) very good. Chicken sauce a bit too spicy! Nice cocktail menu - sorry we didn't try some.
Maddy our waitress was awesome!! The Lobster bisque is too!!
It was a good meal at a reasonable price (for Mission Beach, CA). Perfect to watch the sunset.
Third time in 3 months. Once 49th anniversary lunch. What a find. That night tapas pick up. We took to our hotel next door for dinner in oceanfront room. Then, yesterday with a friend for many years. Arrived home from a long road trip and we were catching up. See ya soon. Bringing the family next time !
We arrived late on Sunday evening, and were greeted warmly. The dining room was almost empty, so we had a quiet atmosphere. Our server, Ashley, was friendly and on top of everything. The food was very good, especially for the prices charged.
Our dinner was excellent as usual, veggies cooked perfectly. World Famous has awesome Lobster Bisque if they would provide sherry to drizzle in the bisque it would make it the best in town! Love the bread at the start of dinner. Most restaurants these days have made salad and veggies a separate item, not here! And our waitress Shannon was very pleasant. The only criticism i have would be too many slices of lemon on the plate which were not needed because the food was perfect without it!
In town on vacation, Service was satisfactory. Ate out on the patio which was nice for people watching as it is on a busy beach walkway. Did not find much on the menu that interested us. However, ordered the Prime rib and it was very good. Wasn't overly impressed with the atmosphere. Nothing memorable.
We visit San Diego every summer and treat ourselves to dinner and breakfast. We have never been disappointed and will be back next year.
Nice waterfront location, but mediocre food. Small portions, a la carte menu.
I had the salmon, it was small, plain and came with one vegetable choice of hard as a rock califlower. I like califlower al dente, bit if it’s gojng to be raw then serve it cold, not hot. The salad was a plain dinner salad. Soups that we ordered were $9 for a cup (not bowl sized). My husbands plate had one scallop, three shrimp and a small piece of salmon.
Sorry - there are so many other seafood options in the area, this one is lacking in my opinion.
Fast, friendly service. Moderate price. Great ocean views and good for people watching.
Always good food at World Famous! You can't beat the view.
The kids were running a muck while mom and dad were out on the town and it showed.
Our first time here and we had a great meal and a wonderful waitress. However, the management needs to implement a policy about crying (make that wailing!) babies and the parents who don't give a damn about their fellow diners' discomfort.
Terrible service. Did Not reserve us a window for our anniversary as requested Hostess was awful
Visiting from out of town and this was a nice find. Located right on the beach so makes for some great people watching. Flexible menu as we have some dietary constraints. Food was very good.
Food was great. Great location and our waitress was the best!!
The food was amazing. My favorite was the lobster bisque. Filet and shrimp was delicious. Shark was tough. The service was excellent. The restaurant was hot with the sun facing in. The patio seating would be more comfortable with fans or with the option to remove the windows for a breeze.
I made reservations for 8:30 on a Thursday night. We were seated right away! Stephani helped us. She was AWESOME!! She let my boyfriend order from the bar menu, she was prompt with our order, any requests we had and was always on top of our drinks and bread. She even changed one of the TVs to the football game.
My son said his clam chowder was good, my daughter had an angel hair pasta dish she said was good. My boyfriend had the happy hour chicken tacos and the ribs. They were both DELICIOUS!! The ribs fell right off the bone and the BBQ sauce was so good!! I had the crab cakes which were also DELICIOUS!!
I was very happy with my experience @World Famous! My parents were visiting from out of town So I made a reservation online and it was quick and easy! We used the valet and couldn’t believe only One guy was running the show! He was very fast and efficient it was awesome! I think his name is John?😬 anyway we were seated right away and exactly where I had requested, next to the window but we soon discovered how Hot it was and asked to move to a more shaded area and it was done without hesitation ! We had a marvelous dinner and plenty of food! Our server was great- always filling our glasses and checking to make sure all was well! So in closing I have to say we Loved our experience at World Famous and will return again soon! Thank you!
Sorry. Not impressed. They bank on the fact its on the beach with ocean view. Food wasn’t very good. Poor service. Decor non-existant. Like a shack. Prices high for all of that. Never again.
The food was overall very good and the prices are reasonable given the quality. Staff is friendly and attentive. The dishes ordered by our party of 3 included lobster bisque, a Caesar salad, a regular dinner salad, the three-sauce Salmon, and the Snapper Veracruz. All were nicely prepared. A couple of minor complaints: The Caesar salad seemed a bit warm, there was a problem with the way my entree came out (hard to understand based upon my conversation with the server at the time I ordered), and they were out of the Key Lime cheesecake even though it was prominently displayed on the dessert board. The interior of the restaurant is very ordinary, but clean. There is definitely nothing fancy about it. We were seated for our reservation a few minutes early and dined in the enclosed patio area. It has great views of the beach, but the wooden folding chairs were VERY uncomfortable to sit on! All in all, it’s worthwhile to come here for scenic ocean views and a casual, good quality meal at affordable prices.
Felix M. the manager on duty was great. Very customer service oriented and went out of his way to answer our questions. The waitress during this meal and the next day in the bar, as well as the hostess come across a bit smug and pretentious. Friendly in general, just did not feel real. The morning of 7/31 we ate breakfast there and the waitress was very friendly and real. Wish I had got her name.
Very good seafood!
Great food and location. We love coming here. It’s just steps from the beach. The service was just ok today. When we first walked in, we were not greeted. We stood there for a bit and were finally acknowledged. Our server was nice but she never stopped by to refill our iced teas. We’ll still come back because of the food and location though.
Food was exzellent, it was a little bit noisy but we liked the atmosphere. We will come back.
Great service!! Amazing food, everything we have had here is delicious!! We have been there every time we visit PB!! Keep up the good work!!
Excellent experience...waitresses were very friendly. ..food was outstanding, and Chiladas were SO refreshing! Thank You!!!
