Woods Restaurant & Bar
main courses served before app for some reason and they were cold. halibut tartare was too greasy, not enough acid in there to balanced the fish. steak tartare was bland. boar was okay, tasted like a Chinese dish which costs me 12 bucks, rabbit was too cold to comment, dessert was okay. amuse was a weird combination and tasted like some bitter medicine with a sour flavored candy. not sure why would you guys put unseeded promegranate in amuse, it didn't help for sure. will not come back, sorry about it
Amazing, great overall experience!
Valentines... everything was great except a major issue happened in the kitchen around mid meal. All tables suffered. There were apologies but certainly made for a rough valentines night out. Will be a while before we trust them to deliver on a special occasion night when coming back.
Amazing food with great presentation. The wait staff were chatty & interested without being annoying. We had the wild boar and the elk.
Decent place. Food was good and decent ambience. Walked to Pravda later who are from the same owners and they were super rude at Pravda
We enjoyed our time at Woods. Right from the start, Robin welcomed us so warmly. Michael did an excellent job serving us, he is entertaining. The food was amazing. I would recommend!
great food and great service. the bartender was very helpful with choosing a great drink to go with the food.
Fantastic and will be going back! Great menu and excellent service to match.
We were extremely impressed with Woods! All of our meals were 10/10 and the service was outstanding. Strongly recommend!
Great atmosphere, and the service was awesome. We had a great chat with the bartender who was ver friendly. The food was good, but was on the expensive side. We had the elk and the seared tuna - both of which were tasty.
Horrible all the way around - will never recommend
Great service and ambiance. Most of the food was unfortunately a miss for us. The kale salad side was the best. But everything else was just alright. The dessert options were very lackluster. We had tuna, halibut and elk as our mains. Elk was unique but was alright. Halibut was overcooked. I like the ambiance there just wish the food was slightly better.
Great cocktails to start, excellent service throughout the night and a very pleasant meal. Great options with a varied menu and everything we tried was well prepared, presented and tasty.
A gem of a restaurant - with an intriguing and well-executed focus on Canadian-sourced ingredients. Well worth a visit for visitors to Canada. And for residents, it is a wonderful reminder of the variety the country has on offer, even in the depths of winter. We had dinner early on Saturday night, but even by 7:30 p.m. there was still availability. This is one of my downtown faves.
I had the scallops to start; incredible. My main was the halibut and I was blown away. This place is a hidden gem.
Sit at the bar to eat. You won’t be disappointed.
Great exotic food and outstanding service by Michael
Elk tartare had too much shallots and onions, it covered the taste of the meat. Same with the halibut ceviche, too much onions it was a little spicy. Seared elk as a main was decent, and wild boar was decent too but too salty. I had the NY striploin which was a disappointment, not up to standard, very mediocre, no surprises. Side dishes can definitely improve too. Great ambience and service was great.
Is this restaurant closed.
Everything was delicious and the service was excellent
Our table of six had such a wonderful evening on New Year’s Eve. The service and food were exceptional. Woods is one of our favourite fine dining restaurants and we’ll definitely be back ourselves and continue to recommend it to friends.
Wonderful restaurant from any point of view
This restaurant was not open for our reservation. I’m not sure whether this was due to OpenTable error or not but it was disappointing.
Dish preparation a little different now - we are regulars and have been for years. Found the cordon blue had a different texture and flavour and perhaps not as good . Everything else was outstanding including the service - Michael and his team are outstanding and most welcoming
Great place to enjoy gourmet food and nice atmosphere.
High level of a service.
Enjoyed a quiet and delicious meal at Woods. My wife’s squash pasta was excellent and the seared tuna was beautifully done. Would recommend for everyday dining or a night out.
Very good Canadian food with broad variety. Fantastic selection of wines with very professional advice, which one to choose for given meal.
Great location in downtown. I was there many times and was never disappointed
I really enjoyed our lunch there. My business partner and zi have a festive lunch every year to celebrate the holidays and another year in business. The lunch was delicious and I appreciated the extra sourdough bread as I cannot eat regular bread. The mushroom soup was delicious and so was the cordon bleu. The wine was amazing as well.
Thank you so much. I especially like the service! Terrific staff!
The food was very fresh, classic and clean as was the presentation and portion. I brought a group of clients, executives and colleagues for lunch after having attended for a dinner last February which I enjoyed. One thing I struggle with in Toronto restaurants is the noise volume. The music is far too loud to enjoy each other or conduct business. This is a very well thought out and intentional restaurant and you can tell by their service, just right music level and experienced staff. Thank-you! My clients were quite happy and sent a second thank-you note to acknowledge how much they enjoyed the lunch.
An amazing experience for an evening out in the city with good food, friendly service and booze. We definitely recommend the Digby Scallops!!!
Always good....not rushed, great atmosphere
Awesome all around. Will go back
Great service and food every time.
EVERYTHING was excellent!! Wonderful food, ambiance and service! Definitely going back ASAP!
We had good service - very professional. The scallops were great. We sat in the front window area which was a bit cold with the door opening and closing. Next time I’ll ask to sit in the back where it’s more cozy.
Amazing meal. Attentive and kind service. We both finished every bite. We will definitely be back.
My second experience at Wood's was just as good as the first. Great service. Excellent food and great atmosphere for a business lunch.
This was our first experience dining at Woods Restaurant. We were visiting Toronto for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. This was the epitome of our visit. Dinner was incredible, but it was our server Mike that truly made the experience special. His attentiveness to detail and sense of humour made for an unforgettable evening of sharing and laughter. Incredible night....Thank you!!
I have had two amazing meals at this restaurant but both times have found the waitstaff impolite in different ways.
The first time a waiter was unnecessarily loud and then rude to other staff (not us directly but the lack of awareness of our discomfort wasn't great).
The second time I was mocked by our waiter for asking what format the ribs were served in - while I don't know if this was genuinely as stupid a question as he made it seem, pointing it out to me that it was, pretending to explain in a mocking voice, and then saying "well I don't know what to tell you" and continuing to laugh - was pretty uncalled for.
I don't think he would have made such comments and continued in this manner if I'd been male. I also note that there were no female waitstaff either time we visited which seems strange.
Anyways, sad to say goodbye to the amazing food but I don't think I'm comfortable going back.
Also - Agreed with other reviewers that the bathrooms are a mess.
Lovely service. Good value. Had a great time. Enjoyed the meal.
An excellent and second experience at the Woods already! John, our waiter was outstanding and the place well be 'a go-back place' for all the participants of this dinner.
