Wheatfields Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
First time at Wheatfields and will be the last, unfortunately. I wanted to like the restaurant because I know it is a Saratoga "staple," and although I liked the atomosphere, nothing else was very good. Our waiter was ok and basically attentive, but I felt that he was a bit annoyed that we needed to make some changes to the options on the menu (we are vegan). That was bearable. The food was not. We had a salad with chickpeas, lettuce and tomatoes. Parts of the lettuce were brown, the tomatoes were far from ripe and there was an ABUNDANCE of chickpeas. I couldn't find any dressing on the salad, although it did taste faintly of citrus and oil. I ordered linguini with pomodoro and veggies. The small amount of pasta given was completely overcooked, mushy really. The sauce tasted like it was from a jar, and the veggies were just terrible. My daughter ordered rice linguini with marina and veggies, and it is nice that they give several gluten free options on pasta, but when the dish arrived there was perhaps a few tablespoons of marina and no flavor at all.
The restaurant was basically empty (it was about 4:30 on a Saturday, so an "off" time) but I still felt rushed. Just an unpleasant experience and quite expensive for what we were served.
The service was very good. The drinks and salads were very good as was the Mac an Cheese that my dining partner had. However my gnocchi was so salty it could not be eaten and the chicken in it was over cooked . I declined to have a new meal and my server was apologetic, but the manager did not come over to see me or provide complimentary drinks etc for the bad experience. I will not be going back or recommending this establishment.
Date night turned into a shouting match not because my date and I were angry, but because the noise level in this restaurant is through the roof. First time customers, hostess was sullen, unpleasant. She placed us at a table at the end of the bar. Patrons and wait staff kept bumping into our table. I was in full view of an overflowing trash can behind the bar. Waitress was prompt and attentive, food was good but not hot out of the kitchen. Value, fair. Not the place for a quiet dinner.
Yummy food and a pleasant server, as well as GM, ready to please and accommodate for a birthday celebration. We had two younger family members in the area, who decided to join the table when we were almost done, and there was no issue with it, and the overall dining experience moved along seamlessly. We all really enjoyed the delicious offerings to energize for the Halloween night ahead.
Having lunch while watching the ebb and flow on Broadway from a table in Wheatfields is very enjoyable. The food was good, presentation very nice and the service was great. The noise level was low so that conversing was a pleasure. Will definitely return.
Been here every time I come to the area. Great gluten free options. We had a reservation but still waited a very long time to eat. Once we actually got the food it was cold. We ate it because the waiter never came back until the end to check on the meal . We would certainly fine there again but chef should check the temp of the food he's sending out!
We were seated immediately and I appreciate that they honor reservation times. This is the second time I’ve used Open Table and I will continue to use it. THe place was a little noisy, however we four were seated in an excellent location and so we had no trouble talking with one another. The food was delicious, the service was excellent.
My husband and I had dinner there on Sunday night. Menu had a lot of choices. We ordered wild mushroom pasta and steak. Unfortunately food was very bland. My pasta had no salt or any flavor at all. Steak came with roasted potatoes that were under cooked. Someone needs to taste their cooking before offering it to the clients.
Disappointing evening :(
On the good note : our waiter was very outgoing. Nice guy!
I was in Saratoga for a golf outing with friends and asked a staff member in our hotel for a restaurant recommendation and Wheatfield's was one of the restaurants suggested. So, I checked Open Table and it was listed.
My friends seemed to enjoy their meal, cleaning their plates. My Mac n Cheese with sausage was too filling for me but not bad in the taste category. The staff were pleasant and attentive.
Our appetizers came out at the same time as the salads. There was then a 70 minute wait until our meals came out. 2 out of the 4 came out 10 minutes before the next 2. One was cold and was sent back. The server did not offer any apology. All 4 of our cloth napkins were dirty. The man sitting next to us sat on a chair and it broke. Seems like the place is really going downhill.
SO DISAPPOINTED! From start to finish, total disaster. Our waiter was obnoxious and intrusive. He had to come back to our table twice because he couldn't remember what we ordered. He sat at our table for unsolicited conversation. He THREW mints across our table at the end of the meal.
The food was mediocre at best, pasta was under cooked and gummy. Later that night my wife became terribly ill. Best advise...stay away!
We arrived early with two less people in our party. We were seated at a cozy corner table. Our waiter Randy was exceptional, attentive with great suggestive for wine and dinner pairings. We had arancini to start (delicious), and chicken parm and gnocchi as our entrees. Both delicious. We finished the meal with chocolate lava cake, also amazing. A great cap on our weekend in Saratoga!
In this restaurant the server actually is the same one who takes your order! I don't go back to restaurants that have people "help" bring out the dishs, they don't know who ordered what and scoot before we can get condiments or water
It's good here
I was meeting my sister and niece for dinner after dropping my daughter off at a concert. I was stuck in traffic for a loooong time. Easily switched reservation time but was still late. Our waitress could not have been more accommodating. We had a lovely dinner outside (it's rare to be able to snag a table outside during racing season). Food and service were great, as always.
