We were pleasantly surprised when eight of us arrived for the first time at the Waypoint Seafood Restaurant when we were ushered back to our table in a nicely furnished private room. The staff could not have been nicer in accommodating us. Matt our waiter was personable, informative and prompt in bringing our drinks and food to us. The manager also came by to ask if we needed anythig, All of us enjoyed our appetizers and meals and will make a point of coming here next year when we return for a golf trip to Williamsburg, If I”m down in that area again before then, I’ll definitely look them up, This is a well run restaurant where you feel right at home with the atmosphere and good food that will distinguish your time there.

Wonderful dining experience. The spicy margarita was very refreshing to start and we ordered the baked oyster appetizer special which was similar to an oysters Rockefeller. The entrees of crab cake for my husband and soft shelled crabs for me did not disappoint. Highly recommend.

Food was fresh and ample and preally delicious. Server was helpful and unobtrsive but available when we needed him. Ambience was restful.

Four of us had dinner. Sydney was our server. The service was outstanding. Menu was varied but we all had seafood dishes. Food was excellent. The wine list was fine. We are local but had not been to Waypoint for awhile. I’m not sure why, but we will be back again, soon.

The fried shrimp appetizer was very good. Do not order the crab cake sandwich! All of the crab was shredded and I didn’t find one lump. My husband and granddaughter had the flounder stuffed with crab and it was mediocre. Very, very expensive for what we got.

Seafood stew was very disappointing. Meager portions but I will say the broth was very good. Had to send back wine due to being “funky”. Can’t recommend.

A very nice neighborhood place if you’re not up for cooking but…Definitely for an older crowd. If you are used to seafood from the Chesapeake Bay or Eastern Shore of Maryland then avoid the Oysters and Mussels here, they are from the Rappahannock. Pretty sure the crab cakes are cooked from frozen. The truffle fries should be served a little warmer…Either that or ours were sitting a while before they were served. In the end really just ok.

This was my first time at Waypoint and it will be a staple from now on when I visit Williamsburg. The food was wonderful and a special shout out to Camden whose service was exceptional and added to a truly great experience.
