Outstanding experience and a definite repeater. We had an extraordinary server (a stately black women)(who gave us advice on the wine/food). The food was great and the setting was beautiful. Suggestion - they have small bourbon list.. woodford reserve was not in the restaurant. More bourbon/rye is the recommendation.

Solid appetizers, mediocre entrees, overpriced wine list. Main dining room has a better ambiance and temperature than being in the kitchen area. Glad someone else paid. I would not be back on my own dime except to have the apps.

Overall, it was a wonderful place for lunch. We were sat down in the back room by the kitchen and it is quite noisy. That is my only complaint!

The service was impeccable from the minute we walked in. Everybody was wonderful. The fried chicken just is not like it used to be. It was mediocre at best. The mashed potatoes were wonderful, but I’m not 100% sure I would rush to go back.

Let’s start on a positive note — the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The interior and decor were thoughtfully done, and the overall ambiance was pleasant, though not quite exceptional. Since this is a newly opened location, I’d like to believe they’re still working out the kinks. Unfortunately, our first experience left a lot to be desired. Service was very slow. We sat at our table for about 10 minutes before anyone came by with water. We ordered martinis, which took another 10–15 minutes to arrive and they weren’t good. We drank them anyway, but they were disappointing. My husband ordered a gin martini and got a vodka one. We also ordered a shrimp cocktail, which was mediocre at best. The shrimp lacked presentation, with a few of them looking a bit mangled. After we finished our drinks and appetizer, no one returned to take our entree order. We waited another 15 minutes before deciding to leave. We had to flag someone down just to close out our tab. We ended up going to Original Joe’s North Beach, and the experience there was fantastic — great food, great service.

As an SF resident and someone who had been to the original location multiple times, this was a very disappointing dining experience, and we won’t be returning. The good: the new location is beautiful. The popovers were yummy as always, though we had to ask for them even after butter was sitting on our table for a while. The oysters were good, but that’s just an oyster being an oyster… deviled eggs were good. That’s about it. The bad: the restaurant was way too warm, which is annoying when you’re trying to enjoy a meal and not sweat into it. The service to our back corner booth was spotty and slow - did she forget about us? It took a while for our water to come, and we were sweating so that was weird. The “standard” cook on the burger seemed to be under medium-rare, so our friends’ burger was mooing (when it’s ground beef, you really don’t want that experience vs a steak IMO). My husband ordered the bavette, which we make often at home and enjoy, but it was made as a roulade of some sort and just why? He said it ate weird, was over cooked, and over salted. Just cook a steak nicely and serve it, you’re a fancy tavern this was a miss. I had the fried chicken which just made me wish I was eating Thomas Keller’s fried chicken from a bucket in my car because it was not good. The texture of the breading was meh, the flavor was okay, the chicken was a little dry (how a thigh becomes dry is beyond me), and it could have used some sort of fancy hot honey or something. I also ordered the carrot side, and cannot believe how disappointing it was. Some sort of Indian spices, which I like, but why? It was so out of left field for the menu and flavors we were eating, and if I’m ordering a side of carrots I absolutely do not want them wet-cooked and like a side my aunt used to serve at Thanksgiving when it made me hate cooked carrots. Roast the damned carrots and make them shine. I had one bite and couldn’t eat more and didn’t take the rest home. This meal was such a miss!

Great food and ambiance. Very loud due to all hard surfaces. Hard to have a conversation and can hear every detail

Such a great host. We explained that due to a scheduling change we had to eat and leave in 40 minutes. He took the order himself and assured us that it would not be a problem. Everything came out fast, was delicious and we were out in 40 minutes!! Awesome, thanks again Mr. Host..
