Chef Tyler Florence brings his passion for quality and timeless style to the heart of San Francisco with Wayfare Tavern, now located at 201 Pine Street.

Designed by Jon De La Cruz, the space blends the charm of a classic SF tavern with elevated details while honoring the city’s rich culinary history.

Wayfare Tavern features authentic American fare inspired by local cuisine at the turn of the 20th century, offering dishes that range from rustic delicacies to classic comforts. The beverage list showcases local wines, quality draft beers, and timeless cocktails. Spanning two floors, the new location features a spacious main dining room, a large central bar, an intimate Chef’s Alcove, and a hidden Cellar Dining Room. The second floor includes four distinct private dining rooms, ideal for celebrations, meetings, and special events.

Wayfare Tavern continues to offer a dining experience that feels both nostalgic and entirely new—a timeless San Francisco classic.

                                            Love the new space - welcoming & cozy! Super friendly staff, and the menu and the food is uncomplicated and well made. Great for date night as well as fun night with girlfriends (in my case) Can’t wait to go back.

                                            I loved your old location. I'm happy that this new location is just as beautiful. We were seated in the bar area... the noise level was a little too loud. Next time I visit, I'll request seating in another part of the restaurant. The food was super yummy as always, especially that new tuna appetizer!

                                            We’ve been really excited to try this place since we heard rave reviews about it. Unfortunately, our experience was mediocre at best. Our service felt rushed and our server honestly made us uncomfortable, like we were there as an inconvenience for him. No warm smile, no suggestions for the menu, and more like “what do you want” attitude. The food was good, we got a burger, bavette steak and burrata mashed potatoes. Burger and mashed potatoes were good but the steak was awful. For a $50 steak, I expected a nice wagyu cut that would melt in my mouth, especially since it looked to be less than 8oz, but instead received something that was over seasoned and so tough to cut into, I was shaking the table as I was trying to cut myself a piece. We left with no dessert and will not be back. There are many other restaurants in SF that are well worth the price for a burger and steak than here.

                                            The restaurant is nice. Our waiter seemed new and when asked about recommendations for gluten allergy concerns he wasn’t 100% knowledgeable but did find out for me. It just felt a bit awkward at times. The burger didn’t have much flavor but I also don’t like Brie so maybe if it had the cheese that would have made it better. My waiter didn’t offer another cheese option. The menu did not include any symbols for allergens and honestly I feel like most restaurants have that now. However, they do have a gluten free hazelnut sponge cake dessert labeled. I wish I liked hazelnut. The people seated next to us knew someone working there and they received some special dishes “compliments of the chef”. The waiter wasn’t quiet about announcing the treats in a loud voice. Honestly, that sort of made us feel jealous and a bit left out I guess. I’m not sure I would revisit.
