Donna was amazing
Bob is the most awesome waiter ever. We had the best time!
Best dining experience we have had in awhile , amazing staff and delicious food !
Great service and spectacular spiny lobster, halibut and of course bread pudding!
First time there. Our server Tristan was fabulous! Engaging about my birthday, very knowledgeable about the menu & preparation. Loved that he shared his favorites & why. That Asiago bread is to die for! Dipping it in the sauce from my steamed clams was soooo delicious. My hubby loved his swordfish- cooked perfectly. The crab-cake appetizer was so moist & stuffed with crab only just enough breadcrumbs to hold it together. The sauce was delicious too- asked for extra. The dining room is slightly elevated & We sat near the windows & they swing open so you can get a feel of street life watching people walk by outside. It was delightful. Oh, my champagne cocktails were perfect choice for my birthday!
The ambiance in this place is outstanding. I have been here once before and it was much better so not sure what was going on this time. We made reservations got there on time and were sat immediately, this is where things went down hill. We waited about 15 - 20 minutes before anyone took our drink order. My wife had to go up to the manager and ask to be served. He came over and took our drink order and we got them quickly. Then we finally got water at our table, isn't that supposed to happen first. We waited some more and the manager came back to take our order. My wife, not being very hungry ordered clam chowder and salad, I ordered halibut. I thought it was odd the she got her soup before salad so when my meal came they gave her the salad. Food was good not great, much better my first time visiting. On a good note they comped us my cocktail and the chowder for having to wait so long. Its a bummer because this place has a great atmosphere but not sure we will be back.
Really good food just slow service
Fantastic seafood. The outdoor seating was fun and was nice to get out. The wine list and service were great. If you're looking for somewhere special this is the place!
Had reservations and they put us at an outside table right on J street. Asked to be moved so we waited a little longer and got an inside table. Scallops were mushy and cold. Service was good, but more like a family restaurant than fine dining in my opinion.
Upscale casual describes this place best, we had reservations for 6pm and were seated quickly.
We ordered cocktails, a mescelero for me and vodka tonic for my wife both arrived fast and were thoroughly enjoyed.
We had questions on the raw shellfish platter that were answered by our waiter who seemed knowledgeable and took time to answer and be still be friendly.
Deciding on the raw Bay scallops with citrus pesto and pistachios to start as appetizers they arrived on the half shell while tasty they were a little mushy and soggy but the citrus pesto and pistachio gave it the crunch and flavor to save it from an unappealing mouth feel.
Heirloom tomato salad came next and the tomatoes were beautiful red firm and flavorful with greens and olive oil with salt to set off the sweetness of the tomatoes.
Grilled spiny lobster with coleslaw for myself and filet mignon for my wife with side of mashed potatos. Nothing fancy here just cooked, grilled and seasoned to perfection. The filet tender juicy and flavorful, the lobster grilled sweet and of course with drawn butter and lemon delicious, and cup of great coffee to finish off the meal. Doesn't get better than this
Of course everything in 2020 has an asterisk. Masks and "protocol" take away a lot. Our server was awesome and the food was delicious. Has a bump in the road with doneness of my dish but it was swiftly and generously taken care of. We had one or the seafood platter appetizers and it was fantastic. Will be going back!!!
Great atmosphere and fresh fish prepared perfectly.
Would go here again, love the service, the location, and the food was amazing.
The menu is great, the food was tasty the service was a little slow but we will definitely be back!
Our server Eric was great, but seemed distracted as he had to bartend and wait tables. He still did a good job. The food was very subpar.....especially for the price. Definitely a disappointment for our first ever visit. We eat at nice places whenever possible, but unfortunately this place will not be on our list.
All of our food was excellent, especially the tuna poke appetizer and the bread! Gf could literally make a meal just from the bread. Very appealing list of special cocktails, too. Service was very attentive, and we appreciated the COVID-19 precautions that were in place.
We had an absolutely incredible dinner at water grill. The service and whole experience was amazing. They took social distancing and regulations very seriously and we both felt very safe.
All good overall. Server could have been better. Glasses ran empty at times. Slow on pickups and drop offs of food. Sitting at the street was super loud. Miss the booth seats inside.
Great seafood! Sea Bass was cooked to perfection in butter and Ciopinno flavors blended so nicely! Broccolini was charred and cooked perfectly. This restaurant is a MUST for seafood lovers!
The Cioppino was excellent, Halibut was so so, a little on the dry side. Service was good, Overall is good, a little pricy, but not say it's a good value.
Given the situation due to COVID, the restaurant was very nice limited inside seating along with outside seating. The food was delicious!
Great service and great food 10/10 would recommend.
Excelente el servicio, la comida deliciosa
The bread pudding was certainly microwaved. Their french press coffee is nothing to write home about.
Our dinner reservation was pretty early. You could see all of the people waiting outside for a table. So, we paid and went upstairs to use the restroom before we left. Right outside the restroom is this area with comfortable leather chairs. It was a nice little sitting area. There were just a few tables with diners nearby and it was much quieter than downstairs. It seemed really nice and intimate. We sat down in the leather chairs and waited for an employee to appear so that we could ask permission to linger in the nice lounge area. A lady came out of the restroom area and we asked if she worked there. She stated she did. We asked if it was ok for us to sit and have a drink in that area. The area was not near any of the other patrons. Also, I'd like to note that we had taken off our masks because we were seated just as we had been seated at our booth. The employee seemed to be a manager based on her appearance. She stated that they did not allow customers to sit in that area. She then asked rather rudely, "Can you put your mask back on?" There was no please included in her request. In this time of COVID, I totally get it. We were in the wrong for assuming that since we were allowed to take our masks off at our table that we had that same privilege in the sitting area. However, in positions of service, using "please" is always adequate. See Yelp for the rest of my review....
Excellent food. Enjoyed eating there when visiting from out of town. Def go here!
Great service & yummy food!
I'm local downtown and dine out frequently. Ate here 2 days ago and it was amazing. Came back to try the whole sea bass. The waiter recommended 1.5 lbs for my date and I to share and said the bones would be mostly removed. The fish was full of Bones and there was about 8 bites of meat, at~40 per pound and not a single butter workout bones. Terrible value, too many bones, and the skin was not scored such that you can remove it from the fish spine easily. Will never order this again here and this is something I specifically go out for to other establishments. The tuna poke appetizer was delicious.
Nice place, due to Covid I'm sure its a little different and service people seemed a little nervous and not as friendly as they should be at a high end restaurant. Our server never said goodbye to us as she saw us leaving. It would be nice to acknowledge your customer coming in and especially after eating there, paying and leaving.
Our server was great - attentive without hovering. However, when we made the reservation, we indicated it was to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary and it was not acknowledged at all. I don’t blame the server at all but the hostess should have paid attention to the notes and informed our server. It would have helped to make our experience overall more enjoyable. Food was just okay ... poke appetizer was good and my husband enjoyed his mussels. However, my fish and chips were overpriced for the portion and overcooked. A little disappointed in our experience. Our server was the highlight.
The oyster sampler and the cocktails were perfect. The only entrée I disagreed with the fish. Simply terrible.
Waiter was not very good.. She had a poor attitude..
We love the Water Grill, fresh fish and the best Octopus
Great vibe and atmosphere. Server was great! Food was meh.
We enjoy the Water Grill. It is in our neighborhood. The food is good and the service is great.
We had such a great evening here! Great patio seating for a couple of delicious cocktails, oysters, and calamari. The food was amazing and our server was thoughtful, attentive, and made great oyster recommendations. Plus, we had a great time watching the nice cars come out for the evening!
Decor and ambience for weekend lunch was very nice. But, the experience was not anything special. The occasion was for a birthday and the food was just ok.
A repeat as long as we can sit inside and not on the street !
We ordered drinks, two main dishes and several sides. All were exceptional except the broccolini which was burnt. I am certain the server would have corrected it had we asked but we had too much food and I knew we couldn’t take it to go. Everything else was superb!
Ate indoors. Service and food were excellent. Scallops for me, and others had huge shrimp louie salads.
