Our group of six had dinner before an event in University Circle. We sat on the lovely patio on a cool late-summer evening. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, our food was delicious. It's just what we expect at this lovely location. We were particularly pleased with the local ingredients - the caprese salad used local cherry tomatoes for a nice twist. Several people ordered entrees - salmon being the big hit. Others ordered a couple of starters, and all choices came at the same time so we could eat and laugh together through the evening. Our server kept an eye on the clock for us, so we enjoyed this delightful restaurant and made it to our event with time to spare.

Strange how a single experience can change one's perception. By coincidence we had dined at Washington Place one week earlier and had a great experience. I gave the restaurant 5 stars in all dimensions. What was different this time? My date and I had shared a tomato salad our first time there. It was delicious and had been split in the kitchen, sparing us the messy task. On our second visit, we asked to share the same salad but it came all on one plate. When I asked the server if it could be divided in the kitchen she told me, "We don't do that here." When I noted it had been done for us the previous week, the response was "I'm sorry." As she retreated, I asked what she was sorry for? Having given us what we wanted on our prior visit or refusing this relatively simple service this time?

We were a party of nine and arrived on time for a Sunday brunch. We were put in a side room which was pleasantly quiet, but after the other party in the room left shortly after our arrival, the place just felt deserted. And deserted by the wait staff as well. It took forever to get our drinks, then our appetizers, and then the meal. The waitress apologized, but that really didn't cover it. The food itself was way too rich. Everything seemed to have a cheese sauce, even the French fries. I had the pot roast hash. The meat itself was shredded and mixed with a gloppy mixture of onion and potato (I think). There were 3 or 4 of us who ordered this, and everyone was unhappy. One of us ordered a salad which he said was good. The waffle and chicken dish looked disgusting. Even the eggs Benedict were unsatisfactory according to those who ordered them. To try to make up for the bad service, the waitress brought 3 dishes of some incredibly fattening dessert with ice cream scoops. Sorry, this is someplace I won't go back to.

Very nice menu priced appropriately with excellent cocktail and good wine list. Ex ellent service, good ambiance. One dish ( veal) was slightly undercoomex and a bit tough. All other dishes were excellent.

When visiting friends in Cleveland each August, we take them to Washington Place Inn and Bistro for their anniversary. Year upon year the food is extraordinary and the service attentive and professional. We ask for Matthew each year in the hope that he's still working at the bistro. If you're visiting Cleveland and looking for a dining experience to remember, you won't be disappointed with the Washington Place Inn and Bistro.

Our waiter was terrific. I had steak and eggs. Steak was tough, potatoes hard and slightly warm. No presentation as far as the plate went. I think for the money it needed a bit of fruit, The monkey bread had no taste. The syrup on it perked it up.

The service was excellent as well as our food selections. the Ahi Poke stack appetizer and the beet salad were a great start to the Salmon Oscar and the CAB New York Strip. Wine
selection went very well with both courses. Noise level depends on table location. Tables on were quite close together which took away from the ambiance somewhat.

Unlike previous experience here, the service was a bit intrusive. Surprising since I've always had extremely professional, European style service but this was a server I'd never seen before.

Food is normally top-knotch, but the salmon this time was way overdone - actually crispy and dry!

We really enjoyed our dinner and the entire experience. All four of us cleaned our plates--everything was delicious. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. The patio is quiet and a lovely place to dine on a beautiful summer evening. This is the best place to dine if you want to avoid the bustle of the Murray Hill, but still want the flavor or of Little Italy.
Terrific evening!

We enjoyed impeccable service, friendly but not obstrusive, fantastic food and a satisfying cabernet in elegant surroundings. The braised beef appetizer with wild mushroom pierogies and horseradish creme fraiche was outstanding. We could linger over the courses deep in conversation, unrushed but very graciously hosted. Wine list had great choices without being encyclopedic. The young lady who served us made a GREAT bourbon recommendation and was very accurate in describing dishes to help us order. She neatly packaged leftovers and left us feeling very spoiled indeed. The whole evening was a delight. We will definitely be back.
