I started by devouring the bread bowl, which is not something I usually do, but the homemade bread was too good to resist, especially with the tomato ragu dipping sauce that came with it. I had a chopped salad, which had lots of fresh vegetables and a delicious homemade dressing. I got the shrimp and grits as a main course, which had several at least 6 large shrimp, a creamy/ cheesy polenta topped with fresh spinach and a tomato sauce. The whole dish was melt in your mouth good. They have an extensive wine list, and I was too stuffed for dessert. I will definitely be back. The service was excellent, but if I had one tiny complaint, it was that the waitress and management checked in on me at least 5 times during my meal. Great service, and I don't think they were trying to turn the table, but they need to let the diner breathe just a bit.
Perhaps the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. " Check in at the bar" should have been a clue...followed by no coca cola, only " cola", soup that was lukewarm, a horrible chicken wrap, coffee that was like sink water, and to top it off, a fly ever present during the meal. Just atrocious.
So...my wife and I had dinner here last night, on Good Friday, so we were expecting it to be not as crowded and it wasn't. Now one would think without the pressure of a full dining room food and service would be better...sadly it wasn't! They definitely had the "B" team working. This place needs to decide what it is. A white linen clothed fully set table with a candle suggests fine dining, but a tatted up female sever with a black tee shirt was WAY to casual for that. No mention of the soups and a "oh by the way our special tonight is", acceptable at a family pizza place, not at a $26 entree restaurant! We ordered the meatballs ap which comes with polenta, we've had it before (yummy), the polenta was chunks like it had been sitting! I had seared scallops on sweet pea rosotto. Seared suggests prepared in a saute pan not thrown in the deep fryer! My wife had mussels, clams linguine...not much flavor and the broth looked like dish water. Oh, and I forgot to mention both our water glasses were dirty! (fill the rinse agent in the dishwasher folks!) The bread was yesterdays served with ice cold red sauce and no butter. Throw in a loud group at the bar because of the poor divider between bar and dining area makes for a disappointing experience. If it's going to be casual dining, lower the prices, if it's going to be fine dining step up the food and service, either way make a decision.
We came with family to celebrate my daughter's christening. There is only one high chair in the entire restaurant and it was being used while we were there so we had no access to one. Additionally, the food was mediocre. Service was ok, and the view of the water is lovely.
I had to get up and go into the kitchen to find a waiter after waiting for over 10+ minutes for anyone to show up at our table. We were given lunch menus as we were there for lunch and then told nothing on the lunch menu could be ordered as nothing had been prepared. We had to order off the dinner menu. Asked for extra dressing to no avail. Took a long time to get our lunch with only 5 tables taken in this very large restaurant. Although they say they are open for lunch, it was a challenge.
We had a wonderful meal at Vito's by the park. Vito's accommodated my friend's request to prepare something that wasn't on the menu but is a typical Italian dish. This was very nice considering it was my friend's birthday. And our server Arkei (I hope, I'm close on the spelling) was very personable and really made the experience exceptional.
Good. It's was valentines Day and for some reason they had open reservations. So I was skeptical but it was nice. Good food good service.
P. S. The place definitely needs renovation.
Very disappointed.Vito's has great potential with the water location. Poor service, slow, inattentive and forgetful waiter ruined our Valentines day dinner as well as the others who were stuck in a side room. Everyone was talking to each other about the service. Took 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge our party of 4 was even seated. Prime rib was gross....covered in a thick gooey sauce...not listed on menu as such. I suspect the meat was old and tried to hide the fact by covering it with goo...I actually believe it was a pot roast..not prime rib. my appetizer came out after I got my meal...
Warm bread and a huge slice of cheesecake..the only positives.
Management..FYI you are losing you shirts in revenue..We and everyone else in our room wanted more drinks.
I really enjoyed my experience here. The food was very good, the appearance was clean and elegant, and the service was exceptional. I may not have gotten to enjoy the view of the water since I visited on a dark and rainy day but it was an awesome experience nonetheless. Definitely recommend.
This was our first time at Vito's & the moment we walked in the door, we were welcomed by Mollie with a great smile and pleasant conversation and then our waitress, Allie was also super friendly and explained menu selections a bit. She brought us two ravioli samples that were both delicious! Our meal was great and the service was warm and friendly. We live in Maine but cannot wait to come back! Great food and wonderful customer service, nicely done!!
Good food. Excellent and fast service. Friendly area
Wonderful food. Wonderful service. My friend and I had a lovely meal while we caught up!
We had a great meal the food was very good! However our server did not seem to enjoy his job. We have had Lisa and Brittany in the past and they are wonderful- so be sure to ask for them for your server-they make the dinning experience enjoyable. It was a bit disappointing to have a server that did not check on us or engage in with our party. We will be back, but will ask not to have this server.. Pasta dishes and 8oz filet were so good!
Absolutely super meal and service. Some of the best calamari we have ever had. Ordered pasta with mussels and shrimp; portion size was perfect and tasted great. The wife had pasta and sauce which was also top notch. We live 60 miles away though plan on coming back as the food is worth the trip
I held my daughter’s 13th birthday party at Vitos. I had about 20 guests and we were given a private area. The food, service and ambiance were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant for an event.
When we arrived at the restaurant at 6 pm, there were no customers. The seat by the pond was provided a lovely view and our wait staffer was wonderful and attentive. However, we were promptly informed that there was no pizza due to oven failure. The calamari was excellent as was the chicken parmigiana. The shrimp and grits was unusual as it was covered in tomato sauce but it did have plenty of shrimp. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake. After waiting, we were told they were out of cheesecake. My friend then ordered the cannoli. It turned out to be a cannoli shell filled with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. We were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time we were there. The location is great, the decor is great, the wait staff was pleasant, but the food needs work. Not a place to return to.
Food was good. Not large quantity. Kitchen screwed up by not telling us until 45 minutes after we order one dish that they were out of it. Very disappointing. Took another 20 minutes for seared scallops and spinach. First time there. Hope they do better next time.
Food was ok, breadbasket came with a mediocre sundried tomato spread. Calamari appetizer was chewy without consistent batter coverage.
Pasta main courses were fine and of a good portion but didn't present a great value for the rather expensive price.
Unfortunately, there was lipstick on the glassware (not ours) and a dead fly in my client's food so may have been an off night for them.
If you find yourself in Windsor, CT for business, or live in the area, this is a very respectable Italian restaurant. The overall quality of the food was very good. The waitstaff is attentive and helpful; I am a dairy-free diner, and the waitress guided me to good options! My colleague had the chicken gorgonzola pizza, and I had the roasted chicken entree-- both were excellent. I also had the mussels for an appetizer--they were delicious. The house-made bread is a nice touch. My only somewhat negative comment would be that the portions (not the pizza) are a bit on the small side, esp. the mussels. We did not have dessert--cocktails were excellent.
Great food. Only one issue why I didn't give five stars. My stake was warm. But. It was good.
Food was decent.
Service was decent.
I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, they were other add-on choices, e.g. steak, shrimp and blackened chicken but no scallops. The salad was large enough for lunch, didn't need the additional app as suggested by the waitress. The app was their "famous" meatballs. Not sure why they're famous, they were mediocre.
Didn't have any drinks or wine so I can't comment on that but they did appear to have a good selections of drafts. The bar looked inviting too.
Great place for a business lunch. Pretty view, fast service and plenty of options for any diner.
Need more wine selection. Overall, good experience
Our Mediterranean salad and shrimp flatbread were excellent.Chicken parm was also very good. Very nice setting by the water.
Just okay - purchased the fixed price meal - food average but wine was subpar - might be a good burger or pizza joint but not fine dining.
To start, it was annoying to walk through 4 people smoking to enter the restaurant. I know that is beyond control. The bread and salads were excellent. Food service was slow. Luckily we were not in a rush. Main course was ok. Marinara and brown sauce were not very robust. Prices were a bit high, but that may be because of rent. Nice views of the pond from all seats. The bar and whole restaurant were very loud due to acoustics in the design of the building. So for ambiance, it is a toss between nice setting but loud. Dessert was good. Tiramisu is ok.
Very attentive service
Noise from the bar spillover was very loud
Pizza had a good light chewy crust lacking flavor/spices
Chicken parm was good but again the sauce was very bland
Caprese salad had sad small tomatoes mozz was good basil was fresh but not much
Prosciutto mozz was Very greasy
My friend and I decided to meet for lunch at a location to both of us and chose Vito's by the Water. I had been to Vito's several times with my nearby customers but this was the first time I've been with a friend. We were able to sit at an outside table, had great lunch salads, great service and a relaxing view of the water.
Very nice location, it was a good meal with very nice pasta dishes. Great Monday special for 1/2 price bottles for most wines!
Fun night.....one food order was not up to par.....a little disappointing.
I love vito by the water it is a wonderful place to eat. It was great for what I have in mind and the service was excellent.
The food was just ok. The adjacent bar was overbearingly loud and we could not carry on a concert with each other at our table. Alexis, our waitress, wad fantastic.
We went for our anniversary and had a wonderful dinner experience . The service was great and the food was delicious!
We hadn't been to Vito's by the Water for quite and while and decided to go with friends. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will be going back again soon. Salads (garden or Caesar) were very good and large enough to share. The shrimp and gorgonzola pizza was very tasty.
As always the food and service was great. Never had a bad meal here. They have updated the outside with fresh landscaping and cleaned up outside.. could use a fresh coat of paint and update on inside. But do not let that deter you... the food is delish. And staff is always so helpful and accommodating.
The service was great. Virginia took care of us very well. The food was good. Only negative comment was the flat iron steak was sliced too thick and wasn't cooked evenly. Other than that, a good dinner.
I would recommend this restaurant if you are ok with small portions and high prices. The food was delicious. I had perfectly cooked Salmon with a lobster sauce that was very good. My issue is that the Salmon was served on top of a tiny bed of roasted vegetables. I was still hungry when I finished. I also ordered a side salad as a starter. The salad was very fresh but it was served with very little dressing. Dinner cost me over $50 with no alcohol. This would have been a better value if the entree included the cost of the salad. I don't think I will visit here again. My friend was dissatisfied also with the cost. No issues with the quality of the food or service.
We enjoyed our evening out for dinner at Vito's. We always enjoy our meals there.
We went there for Mother's Day, everything went as it should. The food was good, the service was good, the environment was good. Nice to go out to dinner and have everything go right for a change!
