Best food I’ve ever had hands down! Nothing comes as a second close!
Superb salmon and halibut main dishes, spicy and sweet penne to start, wonderfully sticky bread pudding shared for dessert. Excellent, attentive service, quiet, dated room but no less lovely given the nature of Violino's old-house-as-a-restaurant courtyard setting on 125 st. Had been a long time to visit again and glad we did.
The appetizers and soup were great. The pasta dishes were wonderful. The fish dish (halibut) was over cooked the first time, the second time it was a less nice piece of f ish but properly cooked with the same vegetables as the previous plate . They were cold.
The bread pudding was really good . The wait staff was attentive .
It was our first time there. It was delicious. Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed everything about this place.
Valentines Day
It pains me to provide such a low score this time around. We've dined at Violino's many times before this Valentine's and have always left happy. I believe the set menu is the root cause of all our complaints. The menu was a choice of seafood bisque or a selection of salads, followed by a cheese and mushroom ravioli, beef tenderloin for me and chicken stuffed with boursin for my wife and tiramisu to finish. The soup arrived tepid at best with a skin on the top which points to the fact that it has sat waiting to be served. Unnecessary in my mind, when only one soup is on the menu. Leave it in the pot and ladle it out when needed. Garnish and server. Our bowls were removed only to have the ravioli arrive seconds later (no kidding...seconds) and again only warm. Empty bowls bussed to the kitchen - two plates of ravioli picked up and delivered on the return trip. Obviously sitting under a heat lamp waiting to go. Assuming the pace wouldn't change we let the last bit of ravioli linger on my wife's plate. But once bussed, presto steak and chicken within seconds. This time we expressed our concern to the server. We're full and would like some time to allow for some digestion. The steak that did arrive was under cooked and the sides cold. The plates were good and hot so that helped. I didn't send it back because although I ask for medium rare I'm okay with rare and it was rare. We ate about half of our food feeling stuffed and uncomfortable.
I'm a bit perplexed. You'd think that with a limited menu and restaurant capacities limited by COVID that the kitchen would be afforded the time to perfect the dish. Instead it seemed to be a production line approach. Will we go back? Most likely - but only after the bad memory has faded. We can't forget all the great meals we've had there.
As per usual food and service is outstanding! Always a great place to eat! But especially nice for a date night!
Awesome experience
The soup was pretty darn good.
The pasta was the most disappointing, and for an italian place my expectations were higher for it - texture was good but not great, the flavor was underwhelming. The main reason I knocked one star off was underwhelming pasta.
Steak was good - cooked to perfection, but not a lot of extra flavor to it - very traditional. Mashed potatoes were awesome, and the vegetables were cooked perfectly.
Dessert was Tiramasu - it might have been the best I've ever had.
Great food cool location definitely an enjoyable experience
Great Night For Valentines Day. Amazing food and atmosphere
The food is spot on everytime. The staff is very polite and attentive. It is such a great spot to go for a nice romantic dinner out.
Service was excellent as usual at Violino. We do like the quaint atmosphere which is usually pretty quiet which it was again. Great food and good value for the money. Wish they had more parking but not their fault.
My wife and I enjoyed another great meal at Violino's.
Very nice and quiet place, good food...I really recommend it!!!
One of our favourite places! We will miss you during the Christmas season but look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
Best wishes to whole team.
Excellent experience, and even better food!!!!!!!!
What a fantastic place. The space was rich, intimate and comfortable and the service was outstanding. Courteous, inviting and quick. Then comes the food, it was absolutely wonderful. The flavours were lush and well defined. Perfectly cooked pasta served with perfectly prepared shellfish for one and for the other, a perfectly cooked rare steak with perfectly prepared seafood and vegetables. For dessert, please try the Tiramisu. If you've ever seen that TV commercial about the guy tasting peanut butter like it was the first time he'd ever tried it, well, the Tiramisu is like that. This place might put a dent in your wallet but it's worth every penny. Highly recommended if you can afford it and if you can't it's worth saving up for.
Lamb, shrimp, scallops, tiramisu. Everything was perfect! Violino is offering take out service during the shut down. Great option until the doors open again. Thx for everything Adrian! You & your beautiful team do such a great job of taking care of everyone. God bless you all. Merry Christmas. P
I took my sisters to Violino’s for a birthday celebration and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely. The service was excellent and the food was lovely. The ambiance was quiet which allowed us to visit without shouting at each other. I would recommend this venue as first rate.
An intimate evening, with all precautions taken to provide an outstanding experience during this pandemic.
Violino is always fantastic. The service is warm and professional, the food is predictably delicious if you order from the menu or order one of their daily specials, and the room is elegant. Highly recommend this spot for a special occasion or just a night out. They’ll treat you like gold! #BuyLocal
Beautiful restaurant with great ambiance and amazing food.
Food is unreal! The lamb rack and AAA steak were cooked to perfection! We’ll be coming back for sure
The evening with my daughter was perfect! We were warmly welcomed and safely seated at a distance from other diners (although there were very few). From the beet salad through entree (Osso buco and surf and turf) plus amazing desserts including a complimentary cheesecake we left full and happy. The service was excellent including a few extra “treats” that was just the icing on the cake. Thanks so much. Will return when we are next in Edmonton
Great food, superb service, a good time had by us!
Very very good. Recommend the Linguine Alfredo. Literally mixed in a wheel of cheese! Best pasta I’ve ever had.
Fine Italian dining, out of this world suppli and fettuccine. Really special

It was my wife’s birthday. And Violino’s delivered. The atmosphere despite the COVID situation was perfect and the food impressed.
This our second time dining at Violino and we loved it. Quiet, very pleasant and attentive server, good food and it makes you wonder who lived in that elegant home that now is Violino's. I love it
