I had looked forward to celebrating my birthday in Vintage Year and had let them know in advance it was my birthday; here are the pros and cons.
Pros: Great food, authentic and tasty. Very close to where I live, beautiful neighborhood.
Cons: Slow service; no tablecloth on tables despite this being treated as a fancy restaurant. What surprised me most was that they did NOTHING special for me despite it being my birthday. I wondered why as my friend had told me that on her birthday, they offered her the dessert ON THE HOUSE. And I had been excited about that :)
Overall, I was satisfied with their food, but not what I expected to enjoy on my special occasion...
Best Sunday brunch in town!
Items we ordered were forgotten. Silverware was dropped on the table and on one of us leaving a stain on a sweater.
Best brunch I’ve had in a very Long time!!
Food was fantastic! Wait staff did a great job.
We enjoyed our time at vintage year. Friendly atmosphere, seeing mutual friends, wonderful venue and great food. A special place for a Tuesday night night date!
Is a lovely place with wonderful food and great service.
Wonderful Sunday Brunch! Made a reservation at 11:00 and went to Brunch at 1:00, no wait and a wonderful table. Jasmin, I believe was our server, lovely young women, did a great job! I had the FGT eggs and it was yummy. My husband had a hamburger and he loved it, as always. I also had a Elizabeth Spritz and it was very good, hit the spot. Would go again any time.
Enjoyed a fantastic Brunch!! Caesar salad is superb!! Short rib benedict and crab cake benedict are world class—as good as any in NYC or Paris. If you are near Montgomery don’t miss this excellent eatery. Ambiance, service and food are all memorable!!
Excellent as always. We’ve never had a bad experience at Vintage year.
We had a very enjoyable evening! Burger night is a treat with plenty of choices. The fries were great. a dessert was on the house for my husbands's birthday. we had the lemon bar. The filling was delicious but the crust was too thick for our taste. Not a complaint just a comment.
Had family in town and this is their favorite place to dine, especially on burger night
Everything was superb. The ambience, food and service.
Vintage Year is a great place, the food is amazing and the service is prompt. I highly recommend
Went for anniversary and it was great!
Looked up on TripAdvisor as we were passing through Montgomery. Delicious food cooked to perfection , ambiance warm and cozy & service top notch. The bread and butter and short ribs were spectacular not to mention everything else!
Dreadful meal. Got the “special” which was Wreckfish and it was a wreck for sure! It was over cooked on the outside and raw on the inside. It was also a ropy/membrane like piece which for the special I’d like it would be a nice filet of fish. The server took the entree back after it took 15 Minutes for her to come back to our table as she never asked how our food was (she was working a large table) so my guest finished her meal before I even got my replacement meal. Was never offered a complimentary cup of coffee or anything for the bad experience. And was not even told thank you when the check was put on the table. We were polite about it all, most people would not have been so congenial. Won’t be going back.
It was great. The brunch was delicious, with several choices prepared to perfection and served attentively. This is a dependable restaurant for fine dining. Not my first visit.
My first time there. My date and I were both impressed with the food taste and presentation. We loved the setting. We will definitely be back.
Our server, JR, was amazing! He kept on top of our needs without interrupting our conversation too much. The food was on point and we had an awesome night at Vintage Year!
As usual, Vintage Year was a great choice for a birthday dinner for two. We both had the filet, which is reliably perfectly cooked and seasoned (and they didn't even blink or ask as if it were an unusual request when one of us asked for it to be well done, which many places balk at). Highly recommend.
We had the most fun!
We enjoyed our brunch with friends-the food ,the beverages and the service was outstanding. Will certainly come back.Keith and Janey Sabel
Gorgeous and superbly prepared seafood. We shared crab cake fritters and oysters with Manchego, jalapeno and pancetta. The oysters were the best I have had, ever, and I grew up in Mobile. A friend got the swordfish special and it was perfectly cooked, absolutely delicious. I had the scallops with black rice, again, a showstopper for the eyes and palate. The scallops were large, seared to a crust and meltingly tender on the inside. Lastly, my husband got the snapper with shrimp and it was excellent - beautifully prepared, every part of the dish in exact balance together. Our server was knowledgeable, professional with the ideal amount of attentiveness without hovering.
The atmosphere is always great. My food was good, but not spectacular, however it was the service that was truly over the top. Tommy was busy, and yet never seemed to be in a hurry. He was quite personable and quick with recommendations, but never pushy. He was funny and attentive. Good service always makes or breaks a dining experience for me. Thank you Tommy!
First time at Vintage Year and to Montgomery. There were eight of us and had the scallops, salmon, Steak and the short ribs. Everyone raves about their food! Great experience!
Another excellent Sunday brunch at Vintage Year. It's always topnotch, and this visit's grilled shrimp and scallops with stone-ground grits was outstanding. The accompanying sauce (served on the side by request), was quite nice. These scallops were particularly tasty; never had any better. Vintage Year's use of fresh Gulf seafood is one reason this restaurant is my favorite, on par with fine dining anywhere.
One of the top 10 restaurants I have ever visited!! Very unique and healthy cuisine with incredible presentation.
Vintage Year is a little gem in Cloverdale. We were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance and quality of each dish. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. We will certainly return the next time we have something to celebrate.
My wife and I had never heard of this place, but decided to try it for our anniversary dinner. It is located in an older section of town that we don't visit often. We found parking right by the front door adjacent to an outdoor dining area. We arrived promptly for a 6pm reservation and were pleasantly greeted and immediately seated at a small table where our server quickly introduced himself, provided menus, and took drink orders. The restaurant was not crowded. We ordered a cocktail and an appetizer to share. The cocktail was served promptly, but the seafood gratin appetizer took a few minutes longer, as it was obviously individually prepared (not prepared in bulk and served individually). I also had a Caesar salad which was crisp and delicious, but the dressing was a little sweeter than I expected. They had several interesting salad selections on the menu. My wife had seared scallops served over black rice with bok choy and coconut- mirin sauce. The scallops were large and perfectly seared. I had the "special" which was grilled grouper, grilled shrimp, and mussels served over fingerling potatoes and spinach. The grouper and mussels were cooked to perfection, although slightly under-seasoned for my taste. The shrimp was good but slightly overcooked. We shared a dessert of creme brulee with fresh strawberries and blueberries. It was delicious. By the time we finished our meal we noticed there were very few empty tables, yet the noise level never rose to a level that was even noticable. We enjoyed a nice dinner and quiet conversation which is exactly what we wanted. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
BURGER NIGHT IS THE BEST NIGHT! THEY HAVE THE BEST BURGERS ON TUESDAY EVENING
The food was spectacular as always!! I confess that the experience would have been A bit more special if the staff had recognized and wished me a happy birthday. The front desk should have known - part of our crowd was there early and a birthday was obvious. I’m not suggesting a birthday song like Chillis but not one waiter or other staff extended any birthday greetings. I even noted the occasion in the open table app when I made reservations. I’ve been a big fan of VY for over 25 years and this was a tad disappointing! Food was fabulous as always but that special touch was missing tonight.
We liked everything about this place. Frankly, we were just looking for a place near Montgomery's new Peace & Justice Memorial, and we were thrilled to have inadvertently come into what must be one of the city's well-known places for good food. The brunch menu featured about five entrees that we wanted to try, and the three that we settled on were delicious. Special shout-out to whoever thought of making the BLT with crab (a full crabmeat patty, actually): SUPERB. All the staff were so attentive (you can imagine my surprise, as a New Yorker used to people ignoring you if you seem to want them to do something) and lovely. I'm just sorry I don't live in Montgomery because I could see making a habit of going to Vintage Year for those times when you really want to eat wonderful food and be able to converse with the people at your table without shouting. And, frankly, isn't that just about all of the time?!?
Enjoyed brunch. Tommy and Jennifer are the best!
We ate here while travelling to Montgomery because of the reviews we read online. We were very happy with our meal and the service.
Visiting Montgomery, we turned to reviews for recommendations for dinner. Our experience matched the other favorable reviews. Food, ambiance, service—all we’re 5 star!
It was a wonderful evening. The atmosphere was great, service friendly and efficient, and the food was wonderful. Two in the party said there meal was the best ever in Montgomery. Quite a compliment for long term citizens.
We have always enjoyed dinner ay Vintage Year. Some times it’s a bit too loud in the back room but this visit was perfect. Dinner was delicious, we shared fried green tomatoes with crab, baked oysters topped with bacon and jalapeños, and we both had a wonder fish pasta. It was a lovely evening. Our waiter Jaylan was very helpful.
The back dining room is too loud. Please add fabric or acoustic panels to absorb some of the noise. I love the VY but we had a tough time hearing each other at a table for three.
We were refugees from Michael and found Vintage Year on the internet for brunch. If we lived in Montgomery we would be regulars
