Wow! Excellent & beyond our expectations for an impromptu date night! Quiet & romantic dining area with a great view of the river. Service was attentive and spot on starting with the handcrafted and very spirited Mint Juleps to the amazing Truffle Mac & Cheese and the James Beard slider. A+++ from beginning to the very end. Already recommended to friends. Can't wait to return!!

Been coming here for several years however havent been there for 3. It was still just as fantastic as I remembered it. Wonderful experience. A must try if you havent been there.

I will not return to Vintage kitchen. Had time to wait for our table but couldn't get a drink at the bar. Bartender never even acknowledged us. The hamburger was an extremely small patty and only 2 shrimp were given with the shrimp and grits. Two. Really unfortunate. The waitress added menu items to my bill although it was restaurant week so it was just one price.

Disappointed in food this time. Could have been restaurant week! Creme brûlée was discusting. Also slow service...got there at 5:30 and we were late for 7:30 play!

Sloth like service from the bar or kitchen, if you're not going to feed me at least keep the drinks coming. The appetizer round was great- Spicy Caesar salad and Shecrab soup were phenomenal even though the soup was cold on top. The Burger for taste was delicious, exceptional flavors, but served on a cold raw bun. Who wants soggy cold bread with such a great burger? The Shrimp and grits were alright but the sauce was better on the sweet potato fries. (Feel free to make that a dish- you're welcome) I would say this restaurant falls short when compared to so many places with the same or better view in Norfolk or Portsmouth.
It was definitely disappointing because I gave this place another chance after having been let down a few years ago with two similar experiences. I was really hoping things had changed but they have not.

Went with friends for Restaurant Week. Slow, terrible service--waited 1.25hr for appetizer and 40-50 min for entrée, then dessert. Seemed to be enough wait staff, our waiter was great, apologetic. Food was good, creative but slow service killed any possibility of us returning there. Also, dining area temp was cold, uncomfortable.

Lunch for a business meeting. Excellent service and delicious food. Perfect, quiet location downtown Norfolk. My friend had the blended burger that won the James Beard competition. He's had lots of burgers and says this is the best. I had salad with fried chicken added; the chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and tender. Highly recommend!!!

I have been here many times over the years and came here for the first time with my new husband for restaurant week. This was one of the worst dinning experiences ever. My husband ordered the "famous" burger and it was thin as paper and the bun was tasteless and store-bought. I had the shrimp and grits which was cold. The wait was ridiculous and the service was incredibly slow and inattentive. We were so disappointed.

Normally a satisfying place to dine, New Year's Eve was a surprising disappointment. We knew the menu was prix fixe but the food was bland and over-cooked. The salad lettuce was soggy most likely because it was sitting in the dressing in the kitchen. The poor girl assigned to be bartender had obviously never made a martini in her life - she had to read the recipe but still served an unpalatable concoction, equal parts gin and vermouth! Sending it back, I ordered a Gibson instead, emphasizing that I wanted it very dry; she served it with olives. When I pointed out that a Gibson comes with onions, she apologetically took it back only to return with the news that they were out of onions. She was obviously embarrassed because she was so out of her element and we felt bad for her. Although the food was not up to par, our server, Brianna, was wonderful. This was New Year's Eve, we understand, but if a restaurant entices diners to celebrate a special event, a better foot should be put forward. We will give Vintage Kitchen another chance and dine from their regular menu but will probably try someplace else next New Year's.

Philip does an outstanding job creating delicious entrees. The duck and potatoes for two are our favorite selections. New Year's Eve had a special 4 course menu. The Hopping John's were succulent. The salad with fried cheese was a lovely surprise. The deconstructed Beef Wellington was cooked to perfection. The bread pudding was an excellent way to end 2017.
