Vinoteca di Monica
You no longer need to travel to Italy to experience the marriage between regional Italian food and wine. The menu focuses on the preservation of traditional regional dishes, with an unpretentious dedication to the true flavors that make regional Italian cuisine so popular.
The art of pasta and bread making are carried out daily, for your sampling, where the freshest ingredients is an everyday affair. VINOTECA di MONICA is the result of Monica’s Restaurant evolution and our passion for the Italian culture and the big role food and wine plays in its preservation.

Wonderful area of town. So picturesque. Waitstaff was nice but a little slow. We weren’t in a hurry so it was fine.
We ate outside, which was pleasant. The menu is large enough to offer interesting choices for everyone. Our server made a mistake with one order, but kindly replaced it and was gracious about it. The tajarin with peas and prosciutto was delicious!
Service was perfect with delicate food and relaxing and inviting ambiance. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable Le if the menu and conscientious of food allergies.
Good fish and pasta. Bread was average and served with a strange sauce instead of olive oil. Salad greens average.
Everything was absolutely delicious! The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back again.
Start with a charcuterie board, have the egg battered artichokes as an appetizer, and ANY of the seconds and pastas next. Lobster ravioli and short rib polenta are absolute favorites! Don't forget tiramisu for dessert. It's to die for!
This restaurant was AMAZING! Our waitress Al Bona was so kind and helpful when it came to choosing what to eat on the large menu. The fresh pasta was some of the best pasta I have ever had. I will definitely be going back!
Amazing food, drinks and service again!! We love this place!
Amazing food, service and cocktails. This is now my go to restaurant in The north end. Can’t wait to return.
Enjoyed a very nice meal outside on a nice night. Staff was friendly and wanted to please and food was authentic and very good. 👍
5 stars for the price point.
Noisy on a very full Friday night but thrilled to see the crowds (and long-time staff) back. Great food and service as always.
Still a lovely restaurant and night out. The homemade pasta is wonderful. It was our first night back in the North End after the pandemic and such a wonderfully welcoming place to go.
Been here a few times and this is the best food in the North End.
We were a party of 6. Sat outside on a beautiful evening. Waiter was great - knowledgeable, accommodating and conversational. Support staff did a wonderful job.
Food was excellent - we each got something different. Give Monica's a try. You will be glad you did.
Stopped in for a quick, light lunch. Shared small plates with my spouse. Both the mushrooms & the scallop appetizers were delightful. Wine recommendation was excellent.
Cute restaurant in a vibrant area. I enjoyed my meal, entree was tasty and dessert was ok. Reasonably priced for Boston, I would absolutely go back. Had both indoor and outdoor seating. Wait staff was pleasant and no complaints about service or timeliness.
A terrific meal as always. Specials were delicious. Ambiance is lively and service was very good. We will return.
We were in from Philadelphia for an anniversary trip. This was a wonderful recommendation from a trusted foodie Bostonian. I would drive back from Philly just for the mushroom bruschetta and the carbonara alone! Everything was yummy!
Finally able to get to Boston, from Maine. Our first thought for dinner was Vinotecca di Monica. Always delicious and always consistent, we were not disappointed! Can’t wait to go back! Love, love!
Cannot go wrong with any of the dishes at Monica’s especially the house made pasta. Extensive wine list and nice outdoor seating for the North End
Food was amazing!! Great vibe! highly recommend!!
Our food was delicious, as always! Our waitress was so sweet.
Excellent meal! Tajarin pasta with black truffle was great! Philip our server was Excellent!!
We had a nice time sitting outdoors on a Sunday afternoon.
Have been here for dinner, but not brunch, and not since COVID. It was great to be back. Food was delicious, service was excellent. Would have been nice to have some bread with it.
Bottom line: food was great, but service was lacking and advertised pricing was not honored. (1) Service was slow; took us longer to get our check after dinner than it did to eat our meals, and nobody ever checked on us to see how the food was, if we wanted a second round of drinks, anything. (2) Online pricing is wrong; they got us in the door with a great special - $2 drinks with brunch - on their Open Table menu, then charged us $10 a drink and didn’t honor the advertised offer. To be fair, this was one meal experience and they probably deserve another shot… but, with all the North End has to offer for dining, it will be hard not to just look elsewhere next time.
Mediocre food. Crowded dining room. Nice server but poor timing/expediting from the kitchen.
Great service and great food! My friends and I went for the first time last night and everything was amazing! Will definitely go back!
Having lived in the North End for over 20 years I’ve tried nearly every restaurant numerous times. Monica’s remains my hands down favorite.
After moving to the North End last year, we've had an opportunity to dine at Vinoteca di Monica several times. Each time, we've had a positive experience. The food is outstanding and the servers have treated us well -- friendly and efficient. In a neighborhood with a ton of great restaurants, Vinoteca di Monica is one of our favorites.
Fresh and delicious - simple yet creative!! Monica's is a pure delight!
Our server, Tomas, was charming and attentive. We had the wild mushroom bruschetta, Caesar salads, scallops and spaghetti carbonara. We were far too full for dessert. Wonderful dinner
This was a family dinner with my my niece and her boyfriend. I had a table for 6 reserved for 6:30 and we arrived on time but my niece’s boyfriend was trying to find parking. The rest of us 5 were at the restaurant but they would not seat us until he got to the restaurant. We had to wait in the bar area until he got to restaurant. They sat us around 6:45. I don’t understand this policy because we could start looking at the menu and begin ordering the appetizers and 5 of us were ready. Food was excellent. Waiter was very good. Noise level of bussing plates in the back was uncomfortable to hear and at times seemed like the plates were being slammed. Overall, I’ve been to this restaurant several times and will go again.
This restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor noise level is really loud and difficult to have a conversation....choose outdoor seating for a more intimate meal. The food was amazing! One person had the frutti di mare and that could have served two people. All the seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly. Even the calamari in this dish was perfect.....other places serve calamari with the texture of rubber bands! Not here! The pasta is the freshest we've ever tasted. They also have a store next door that makes and sells their pasta. The Veal Milanese was served with arugula lettuce on top of the veal. Perfect! Without liquor we spent $70 per person with tip. You can have a nice meal for $35 - $40 per person with tip.
Four of us had different, equally delicious, beautifully prepared dishes, along with two yummy shared antipasti. There were so many good selections. The wine list was extensive, separated by region of Italy, with a wide range of prices. Our server, Tomas, was delightful and so helpful. We were too full for dessert, but we were tempted by those, given the quality of our dishes and salads. We sat outdoors on the very hot and humid evening where it was surprisingly quiet in a busy neighborhood.
The food was delicious and the service was great (per usual) !
My boyfriend and I had an AMAZING meal here! The fried calamari and bruschetta appetizers were delicious. Homemade pasta is to die for and the drinks were great as well. Price was very fair and the atmosphere was cozy. We will definitely be back!
We are at Trattoria di Monica several years ago and decided to try the Vinoteca, its sister restaurant, this trip. Everything was wonderful! Our waitress was very attentive, and we sat outside to enjoy the cool Boston evening. We started with calamari, which was excellent, and then each of us tried something different: Chicken Parmesan (my husband’s favorite Andrew his baseline for gauging Italian restaurants), Eggplant Parmesan, and Short Ribs (normally served with polenta but my granddaughter asked for Garlic Mashed Potatoes). Everyone was happy with their meal. We’d go back.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Highly recommended.
Excellent. Entrees just didn’t seem up to par. Red sauce and seafood and pasta just seemed like like a reheat blend. Couldn’t enjoy fresh pasta and fresh tomato flavors.
