I would say Vinoteca di Monica was good but not great. Most of our food was above average, but relatively expensive given the portion sizes (aside from the meat dishes, so perhaps that's the best choice here). The service also left something to be desired; they sat us almost 45 minutes late for our reservation without much of an apology, and the rest of the meal was similarly slow. Our waiter somewhat made up for this in friendliness, but it was still a frustrating experience. I would try it out again in the hopes that the service would be better.

Don’t come here. Overpriced food with terrible unfriendly, slow service. We ordered plain pasta with butter for my two kids and they charged us over $45 for it! Outrageous. There was a misunderstanding with the waitress about two of our orders and the person who appeared to be the manager came out and scolded me. Terrible service. Go elsewhere (Il Panino, Saraceno, or the many other Italian places that are better for the value and food!)

Even with reservation had to wait. Seated in the bar by a door, was very cold. Server was friendly but admitted he forgot to out appetizers in. Food was just okay, lacked salt.

Went with a party of five and was seated at the window, which was wonderful for people watching. Service was great and food was fantastic. Portion sizes were just right and very fresh. Would definitely go back and recommend.

Loud, average/poor service. The staff didn't seem to be able to handle the full capacity. It's a shame that a restaurant striving for a nice ambiance has TV screens at the bar. It felt more like a sports bar in the bar area. Seats at tables in the bar area were way too tight.

The food was good, but portions were small. Asparagus appetizer was unique and delicious, and the pasta with peas and prosciutto was very good. However, the gnocchi with sweet Italian sausage had a too-sweet tomato sauce with it, and it wasn't particularly well-balanced. They offered a weird bean dip with the bread, but didn't explain what it was, and we had to ask. It was super dark at our table, so the menu and the food were hard to see. I was also surprised that a vinotecca didn't offer many options for glasses. The waitress forgot to bring my second glass of wine, so she comped it, which was the highlight of the meal. We'll probably try a different place next time.

We and other members of our family have dined here many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and fresh and the waitstaff is very knowledgeable. I was a bit disappointed this time that there were fewer specials than usual. I have always really appreciated the fish specials since we do not live in the Boston area and don’t often have an opportunity to try really good fresh fish.

Food was excellent. They make their own pasta. If you have pasta the prices are reasonable. Good wine list. Service was good not great we shared a dessert and he only brought the one dish. Could have been easily split in kitchen. No coffee refill offered. The reason I cannot recommend and would not return is the noise level is overwhelming. I realize we are seniors and do not like noise like younger people do. But we do tolerate them. But this was so loud that we had to shout at each other

Awesome meal, and Ann the bartender was fantastic (we ended up eating Sybil a high-top on the bar side). The mushroom crepe is insane. The sausage broccoli rabe was the best I've ever had.

I enjoyed my experience at Vintoeca di Monica. Good drinks, food was delicious. Service was not rushed at all. I was on a date, and I liked the atmosphere. Definitely background noise, but not so noisy we couldn't hear each other speaking.

I loved this restaurant and every time I would visit Boston, I would eat there. The last time, however, I bragged about the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara to my friends and it was terrible. It didn't look or taste like it. The color was brown and it wasn't good. I was so disappointed and embarrassed.

The menu and food was excellent. The restaurant was extremely crowded with not much room to move. If my wife and I were not at a window table we would have considered cancelling our reservation and going somewhere else.

First time and not disappointed! Fantastic handmade pasta was such a treat. The ricotta polpette appetizer was delicious - a bit spicy but just enough. Gnocchi with sausage outstanding. Great wine and atmosphere, excellent and friendly service. Will be back to try their weekend brunch!

Would suggest all the servers know the wine list a little better. Or engage another server if they don't. Also I liked the bread bean dip but would've preferred a more traditional option (olive oil or butter). Otherwise we enjoyed our experience thanks!

Very dissapointing experience. We were celebrating an engagement and when my fiancé shared this, they were suggesting we order an expensive bottle of wine to celebrate. It would have been nice if they did something, a glass of prosecco, a hello from the chef, anything. But we got over it and then ordered 2 dishes - clams with pasta- not very good, and a recommended dish that was a red sauce which was so bland that it tasted like ragu from childhood. The saving grace was the waitress we had was super accommodating and offered to have it fixed. It came back delicious with the ingredients more plentiful - onions mostly but considerably different.

Wine good and martini perfect. All in all a lovely little spot but would not suggest it because the food was mediocre food with not a lot of flavors.

As a resident of the North End, we've tried almost every restaurant in the neighborhood. Monica's remains our "go to" favorite. The menu and wine list is outstanding, the food is always terrific, and the hosts, servers, and bar tenders are the best in Boston!

Group of seven out to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday night. The group included a vegetarian and a pescatarian. Everyone was pleased with the number of choices on the menu - both appetizer and entree, and very happy with their dinner and wine choices. Windows opened onto the sidewalk which added to the ambience.

Really disappointing! Seated us a half hour late despite a reservation. Had to ask for bread, olive oil and salt and pepper. When we asked for salt the waiter said "there is salt on that I tasted it". The food took forever and was not worth the wait. Very small portions and not cheap. Would not recommend!
