Vinoteca di Monica
The maitre d's, bartender and waitstaff were all fantastically helpful and nice. We love this place! The food is great, It's a pretty setting, with nice windows. The wine is delish.
We had a very nice brunch . Food was very good and service the same. Nice place!
We had reservations for 8:45 and were not seated for almost 45 minutes. The hostess was extremely kind and did everything she could. We ended up being seated in a tight corner of the bar. It was loud and not the feel we thought we were getting. Food was okay at best. We enjoyed the fried olives, but my pasta was nothing special. Only one of us really liked our meal.
All of the food we ordered was fantastic but we were very disappointed in the bread. Stale, cold, and with an odd dipping sauce...
Out of town family
The waitress was attentive and accommodating.
Best Italian food in Boston. I would highly recommend.
Food was excellent but the noise level was way too loud. Birthday parties going on all around our table made the conversation almost impossible. Seemed more like an Olive Garden experience.
I had mentioned in our reservation that one person in our party was gluten free. When we arrived, the hostess to asked which one of us was gluten-free. She said once we were seated she would come over and discuss the gluten-free options on the menu. I thought that was exceptional customer service
Our favorite place int the North End didn't disappoint! We had company visiting from Italy, and have alway been hesitant to take him to a "Italian" restaruant, but we're so happy we brought him - he loved it! He was specifically impressed the the gnocchi! The service is always fantastic and with such a vast menu with a long list of daily specials, there's always something new to try. A must for anyone visiting Boston!
Fun lunch with great food and drink
For pre dinner drinks, we recommend the Black and Yellow ( black tea vodka and lemonade). The three of us shared 2 appetizers- both specials of the day, eggplant parmesan and a platter of meat and cheeses and enjoyed both of them, . All three of us had pasta- lamb ragout, mussels and mixed seafood. Again all 3 dishes were excellent. The best part was our waitress- she never rushed us, even when we were the last 3 in the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't crowded as it was a Monday night, so the noise level was very low. Definitely worth a return trip.
One of our favorite restaurants in the North End. Would highly recommend!
Delicious food every time. Our favorite North End restaurant!
Great atmosphere and the manager was very helpful with food allergy
Wonderful restaurant in the North End. Nice menu. Full bar. Good wine list. Food was very tasty. Only negative was that it is a small restaurant & tables are very cramped & crowded. Rather noisy. All that said, will definitely return.
Great food and service
Lovely lunch with friends. The food was delicious. Thank you.
Always outstanding. Thank you for making it so easy for us to enjoy a meal with our daughter’s complex food allergies. One of the main reasons why we keep coming back, beyond the amazing food.
Overall an amazing and solid Boston restaurant! The food is delicious, service excellent and value outstanding.
Loved spending time with my boyfriend here! The food was so good he refused to share his pasta!
The food and service were excellent but it was a little pricey. They were very accommodating as I was a half hour late for our reservation due to parking and we were seated within 5 mins of me getting there. The parking situation is horrible, but that is no fault of the restaurant, it’s just that busy in the North End on a Saturday night. I would recommend this restaurant and would definitely return if I’m ever in Boston again.
Clams were overcooked & so was pasta.
Disappointed bc this is the only restaurant I go to in North End.
So bummed that I have to say I barely finished my meal..Special of shrimp & scallop risotto had no taste at all it was awful I was looking for salt shaker on table (but none) so sad cause we have eaten in past and it was good but this time it was barely eatable. :-(
I never write reviews but management needs to know about our experience. Food was good, no real complaints other than my dads $46 Fra Diavlo having the lobster still in the shell, just a poor presentation and impossible not to get sauce everywhere trying to open it. Our server was great! Zero complaints there.
Issues were with host and hostess. I called a couple hours prior to our reservation to let them know there was another group we were meeting there. Instead of asking to sit us all together and really mess yo their reservations, I simply asked if it was possible, they try to sit us near them. The guy I talked to was incredibly rude and said we don’t accommodate those requests. Or something like that.
Once we arrived, our table was in the corner next to the bar. Standing in that area was the other group waiting for there table (everyone had to be present before they sat) so we ordered drinks from our table server. some people stood, some sat as we talked with the others near the bar. The hostess came over and was incredibly rude, telling us that we had to sit and eat because there were other reservations after us. We told her we only had a short period of time because we were all going to a show. The hostess continued to be rude and finally walked away.
I would never go back to this restaurant. So many other great options in the north end and throughout the city. Owners/managers/hosts don’t seem to understand how much money parents are spending with sitters and everything else to go out and have a fun night. The last thing we want to deal with is lousy customer service.
Delicious food in wonderful ambience.
Food was amazing- as always! I rated the service 3 stars because:
-a worker (not our waitress) asked twice to remove our wine glasses. Once right after we sat before we could even order. Second time was after we finished the first and before we could order a second. Not a good look- it made us feel rushed.
-wine glasses were dirty
-pumpkin ravioli was not salted
-waitress didn’t proactively offer specials- I had to ask her for them.
-we weren’t offered bread, I had to ask
-we weren’t offered grated cheese, I had to ask.
I used to be a server at upscale restaurants so all these things have been ingrained in me. I might have been able to put it all aside if she didn’t offer these things to the table right next to us.
Great food and appropriately friendly service. This is the best North End restaurant we've been to in some time. They are known for their pasta but we thought the meat dishes were done beautifully. Portions were just the right size as we left feeling just full enough. Very nice ambiance - busy but still manages to stay romantic and European-feeling.
Great food in a lively atmosphere.. lots of wine choices as well!
Had a lovely lunch. Restaurant was not crowded, therefore the noise level was low. Pasta was delicious as was the prix fixe lunch menu I chose. Looking forward to visiting again if I’m in Boston.
Food was excellent
Another perfect meal at our favorite restaurant. I totally enjoyed the lobster raviolis; my son ordered his menu favorite, the grilled salmon, cooked to perfection. This was a belated birthday dinner so I was happy every detail was to the same highest level we have always enjoyed at Monica's!
thanks and see you again soon
You can’t get better value in the North End. Food is always fantastic and fairly priced. Good selection of wine as well at all price points. Our server was very helpful and enthusiastic. One of my favorite North End spots!
Lovely experience. Excellent food, drinks, and service.
I love Vinoteca di Monica is my favorite Restorant ever! The food is so yummy. So good, that we wanted to lick the plates. I know it's sounds funny but that's how delicious it was! We had the Fradiavlo and truffle gnocchi it was outstanding. I definitely recommend people to try it. The service was amazing too. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations.
We were referred to Vinoteca di Monica by a northside Boston resident. She said it was her favorite Italian spot in the neighborhood. We took her word for it, and gave it a try. It was outstanding, the food was fantastic, the service warm and welcoming and the surrounding great. Would go back again in a minute.
we enjoyed another very good dinner at Vinoteca di Monica. my only complaint was that the pasta was not piping hot, but this is a personal thing, most people would have found it to be satisfactory.
It was our 40th anniversary and I noted this when I made the reservation. There was no mention of this when we arrived. Although restaurant was not busy, server did not approach table for 5-7 minutes after we were seated. We had to ask for bread as it was not offered. After meal was served no other contact made. She did not ask if the food was okay. There was no offer of cheese, or even salt and pepper, which were not on the table.
Food was just ok. We expected much better based on their rating, but was very disappointed. We will not be back.
Everything was great but the service. There were long stretches when we felt like she had forgotten about us and everyone was in need of a drink refill. The worst was when she brought the wrong entree and wasn't at all apologetic. She tried to almost make it seem as if that was what he had ordered and she had not gotten it wrong. We love Monica's and have been many times. We will come again but it was this time was a disappointment.
