Vinoteca di Monica
One of our favorite restaurants in the North End. Would highly recommend!
Delicious food every time. Our favorite North End restaurant!
Great atmosphere and the manager was very helpful with food allergy
Wonderful restaurant in the North End. Nice menu. Full bar. Good wine list. Food was very tasty. Only negative was that it is a small restaurant & tables are very cramped & crowded. Rather noisy. All that said, will definitely return.
Great food and service
Lovely lunch with friends. The food was delicious. Thank you.
Always outstanding. Thank you for making it so easy for us to enjoy a meal with our daughter’s complex food allergies. One of the main reasons why we keep coming back, beyond the amazing food.
Overall an amazing and solid Boston restaurant! The food is delicious, service excellent and value outstanding.
Loved spending time with my boyfriend here! The food was so good he refused to share his pasta!
The food and service were excellent but it was a little pricey. They were very accommodating as I was a half hour late for our reservation due to parking and we were seated within 5 mins of me getting there. The parking situation is horrible, but that is no fault of the restaurant, it’s just that busy in the North End on a Saturday night. I would recommend this restaurant and would definitely return if I’m ever in Boston again.
Clams were overcooked & so was pasta.
Disappointed bc this is the only restaurant I go to in North End.
So bummed that I have to say I barely finished my meal..Special of shrimp & scallop risotto had no taste at all it was awful I was looking for salt shaker on table (but none) so sad cause we have eaten in past and it was good but this time it was barely eatable. :-(
I never write reviews but management needs to know about our experience. Food was good, no real complaints other than my dads $46 Fra Diavlo having the lobster still in the shell, just a poor presentation and impossible not to get sauce everywhere trying to open it. Our server was great! Zero complaints there.
Issues were with host and hostess. I called a couple hours prior to our reservation to let them know there was another group we were meeting there. Instead of asking to sit us all together and really mess yo their reservations, I simply asked if it was possible, they try to sit us near them. The guy I talked to was incredibly rude and said we don’t accommodate those requests. Or something like that.
Once we arrived, our table was in the corner next to the bar. Standing in that area was the other group waiting for there table (everyone had to be present before they sat) so we ordered drinks from our table server. some people stood, some sat as we talked with the others near the bar. The hostess came over and was incredibly rude, telling us that we had to sit and eat because there were other reservations after us. We told her we only had a short period of time because we were all going to a show. The hostess continued to be rude and finally walked away.
I would never go back to this restaurant. So many other great options in the north end and throughout the city. Owners/managers/hosts don’t seem to understand how much money parents are spending with sitters and everything else to go out and have a fun night. The last thing we want to deal with is lousy customer service.
Delicious food in wonderful ambience.
Food was amazing- as always! I rated the service 3 stars because:
-a worker (not our waitress) asked twice to remove our wine glasses. Once right after we sat before we could even order. Second time was after we finished the first and before we could order a second. Not a good look- it made us feel rushed.
-wine glasses were dirty
-pumpkin ravioli was not salted
-waitress didn’t proactively offer specials- I had to ask her for them.
-we weren’t offered bread, I had to ask
-we weren’t offered grated cheese, I had to ask.
I used to be a server at upscale restaurants so all these things have been ingrained in me. I might have been able to put it all aside if she didn’t offer these things to the table right next to us.
Great food and appropriately friendly service. This is the best North End restaurant we've been to in some time. They are known for their pasta but we thought the meat dishes were done beautifully. Portions were just the right size as we left feeling just full enough. Very nice ambiance - busy but still manages to stay romantic and European-feeling.
Great food in a lively atmosphere.. lots of wine choices as well!
Had a lovely lunch. Restaurant was not crowded, therefore the noise level was low. Pasta was delicious as was the prix fixe lunch menu I chose. Looking forward to visiting again if I’m in Boston.
Food was excellent
Another perfect meal at our favorite restaurant. I totally enjoyed the lobster raviolis; my son ordered his menu favorite, the grilled salmon, cooked to perfection. This was a belated birthday dinner so I was happy every detail was to the same highest level we have always enjoyed at Monica's!
thanks and see you again soon
You can’t get better value in the North End. Food is always fantastic and fairly priced. Good selection of wine as well at all price points. Our server was very helpful and enthusiastic. One of my favorite North End spots!
Lovely experience. Excellent food, drinks, and service.
We were referred to Vinoteca di Monica by a northside Boston resident. She said it was her favorite Italian spot in the neighborhood. We took her word for it, and gave it a try. It was outstanding, the food was fantastic, the service warm and welcoming and the surrounding great. Would go back again in a minute.
we enjoyed another very good dinner at Vinoteca di Monica. my only complaint was that the pasta was not piping hot, but this is a personal thing, most people would have found it to be satisfactory.
It was our 40th anniversary and I noted this when I made the reservation. There was no mention of this when we arrived. Although restaurant was not busy, server did not approach table for 5-7 minutes after we were seated. We had to ask for bread as it was not offered. After meal was served no other contact made. She did not ask if the food was okay. There was no offer of cheese, or even salt and pepper, which were not on the table.
Food was just ok. We expected much better based on their rating, but was very disappointed. We will not be back.
Everything was great but the service. There were long stretches when we felt like she had forgotten about us and everyone was in need of a drink refill. The worst was when she brought the wrong entree and wasn't at all apologetic. She tried to almost make it seem as if that was what he had ordered and she had not gotten it wrong. We love Monica's and have been many times. We will come again but it was this time was a disappointment.
Everything was fresh and fabulous!!! Amazing black truffles!
We made reservations and were seated early. Very friendly staff, great menu. We had the grilled calamari, fried artichokes, and rigatoni with sausage. Split a bottle of wine. Delish. It was a Saturday night, so filled and noisy. But that's part of the North End experience.
Great food. Great time . Great service. Consistently good.
We arrived early for our reservation and were seated immediately. The space is configured so the tables aren't on top of each other and you can have some privacy for your conversation. We shared the eggplant parmesan as a starter and it was excellent--- My guest decided he would have it as his entrée the next time. We both had pasta and both dishes were too large to finish and very tasty. For dessert we had affagato ( vanilla ice cream with espresso). A wonderful evening-- all that food plus wine was $120--- a bargain in Boston's North End. Definitely will be back.
The bread was stale and store-bought. When I asked the waitress if she had any fresh bread, she said, “I’m at the end of a 12 hour shift. That’s all I have, sweetie-pie.” She proceeded to be rude and condescending for the remainder of the meal. My pasta was lackluster, and my friend’s meal was also sub-par. This place is ridiculously overpriced for the poor quality of food and service.
Delicious food, great service! Very nice atmosphere. We sat in the bar area, which was very nice .
We had a great lunch here today after our Harbor Cruise and Aquarium visit. Service was excellent from our server Matthew. They have a pretty extensive menu, especially on a Sunday as the Brunch menu is in play. We went with the dinner menu. Really enjoyed the House Antipasto Special. Our 3 dinners were all excellent. Cappellini con Gamberi , Pesce del Giorno ( today was an excellent Haddoc ) and Fettuccine con Cozze Arrabiata ( supposed to be spicy, but we should have said bring on the heat, we can handle heat ). Looking forward to a return trip in the future.
Great homemade pastas and innovative starters. Love the ambiance although can get loud with tables close together.
Fabulous server, he was so professional and engaging. Mushroom ravioli to die for!! Highly recommended!!
We tried Monica's for the first time and would absolutely return. The options on the menu were broader than most other Italian restaurants and not the usual run of the mill stuff. Our reserved table was ready and the service was excellent. Very nice wine list as well!
Best risotto I have ever had! Service was excellent!
second time here. had lobster ravioli this time and not impressed (beef medallions the first time much better) . can get wine for $35-34/bottle. a little nicer aesthetically than the average north end more basic italian restaurants in the area.
Great food, great atmosphere and great service from Paola as usual. Can’t wait to go back.
