Vino Italian Tapas & Wine Bar
Great food, server was knowledgeable about the food and wine. Very enjoyable evening. Thank you!
Food was fabulous food and excellent service by the staff. They were very accommodating, friendly and resourceful. Love the emphasis on local produce.
The cuisine is consistently good. We dine family-style and enjoy trying several dishes.
Ann and the servers are warm, welcoming, professional, and knowledgable about guiding guests through the menu and wine selections.
There is no favorite dish, we enjoyed them all!
Well crafted Italian cuisine, and fresh made pasta that is the best in Honolulu. The wine is the main course here, and the very extensive wine list has a great selection of both domestic and European wines.
Disappointed not given the "keychain" special pricing for the dinners we ordered
The food never disappoint each time I go here! We came here to celebrate a birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. It was so interesting hearing about the history of the restaurant and the owner’s mission to create the home atmosphere. The gnocchi with crab was delicious, along with veal chop and lamb that my mother and I had. We shared the octopus and veal meatballs for appetizer. The flavor of each dish was superb, with careful attention to details. We even got extra bread to eat the sauce with! Such a lovely dinner.
Wow! The personal attention and service here was amazing. Further, the food was beyond belief so good. We had New Years Eve dinner here for four and every one of us came away with a smile and talking about how good it was. Thanks so much for making our night memorable!
Storm our server was outstanding!
To start we had the Caesar salad and a glass of red based on Storm listening to our profile then we followed his recommendation, spot on.
The food was good too, we had from the specials the fire roasted rib eye, best steak we have had in a long time including all the top tier steak houses in town. From the regular menu we decided on the branzino.
Not much room for desert so we settled on the mango sorbet.
Excellent food, excellent menu, excellent wine list. Chuck is wonderful and all the staff.
Food was great, server was very friendly and knowledgeable about menu. Great selection of wines, nice place to take time and enjoy your dinner! Will definitely return again!!!
Food was good but portions were very small and service was slow.
Everything was really good nothing bad to say
Always amazing! The whole experience. Best Italian food I have had in the US.
Always great.... always
Everything from the service to the food was excellent. Chuck Furuya, the owner, walks around to check his guests. Nice and friendly guy! Adds a personal touch to the dining experience.
Farm to Table, authentic Italian food paired with excellent wine recommendations.
With a Master Sommelier on premise who has trained his server staff with wine/food knowledge.
Come enjoy your Foodie experience yourself
Fantastic dinner with wines selected by Chuck! Mahalo Vino!!!
Wow, Where to start...
Great wines, and all of the staff know how to pair these with any menu item.
Great food. Good-quality, fresh ingredients prepared by chefs who know what to do with them.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, ready to please.
All-around experience - excellent!!
Always a wonderful experience from start to finish
If you need a place to go to for anything - a date, work place gathering, or just to get some great food - this is the place to go!
Went out as a celebration of my graduation! Vino did not disappoint from food, to service, and to atmosphere everything was beyond perfect ! Thankyou for a great evening !
Vino has become our favorite restaurant. All of the food is mostly local and very fresh. Every dish we have ordered has been deliciously unique in flavor and presentation. The little plates makes it possible to order a wide variety of foods. It is nice to be able to order a dish, eat it, and order another one. The wine selection is top-notch.
The excellent service adds to the experience. Even though it has usually been a busy evening when we have been there, the food has always come promptly and we have never felt rushed. Chuck, the owner, makes it a point to stop by every table. If you engage him in conversation, you will find him quite witty, incredibly well-informed about wines, and passionate about fresh, quality food.
Always a great meal, they bring you the very best in Italian and mediterranean cuisine and pride themselves on a very very carefully chosen but large wine list that complements everything on their menu. I love that they have seasonal/monthly/weekly specials so that you could weekly and never get bored with the menu.
We went to celebrate my mom’s life. It was beautiful and Chuck toasted with us.
Enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at Vino. Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya spent time at our table talking about wine-food pairings and telling us about his recent trip to Italy. Great evening!
Like last year, Vino extended their Restaurant Week menu after RW technically ended. Therefore, my bf and I experienced that $39 4-course menu (PLUS the $15.95 wine pairing) as follows:
1) seared ahi crudo - the tomato relish/jam was flavorful (spicy, acidic, savory, sweet) and the sweetness of the paired wine beautifully complimented it. I love the added texture and salty/sea flavor of the ogo.
2) squid ink pasta con vongole - I love the chew of the perfectly al dente pasta and you definitely tasted that yummy clam in the sauce, which was on the more simple side. The clams were also cooked well, soft and not overly chewy (I hate when a protein, especially seafood, is overcooked). The paired wine was a bit dry, which I thought worked well with the more buttery saltiness of this dish.
3) red wine braised short rib - it was fork-tender and flavorful, though on the saltier side, but was beautifully balanced with the cauliflower puree (creamy and airy), swiss chard (bitter bite) and lomi tomato (sweet and tart) if you were able to get enough with each bite. I just which that they were more generous with the sides accordingly, so I did not have to painstakingly proportion it with every bite. We really enjoyed the paired wine.
4) strawberry tiramisu - it was refreshingly cold, yummy and a good portion (bigger than my short rib), though I wish there was more strawberry to complement the cream and lady fingers.
Overall (a) the wine pairing was worth it, and (b) the RW food was yummy, but the portions were on the smaller side (as the server previously noted to us). Therefore, I do not think the RW food menu was worth it. We did order an appetizer, the pretzel breaded calamari - crispy, not oily, perfectly seasoned and cooked- and thoroughly enjoyed it with the aioli, though next time I'll ask for lemon to add more refreshing tartness.
Their cocktails are very reasonably priced for a restaurant of its class. I definitely would come back for their regular menu items.
Food was fabulous and staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
We had a great restaurant week menu - very delicious & perfectly matched with wines that were new to us. We look forward to going back
It’s warming to see the owner walk the restaurant; and stop/sit with customers to help them pick the perfect wine.
He’s very charming, and the stories he tells of his family and travels makes the meal that much more pleasurable.
We went for the Restaurant Week menu and food was very good. However the restaurant looks very dated upstairs.
Our server,Storm, was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful in recommending food and wine choices. Our meal was amazing!
best combination of highest quality food and customer service in oahu.
More than anything we go for the food. Expertly prepared with quality ingredients. Great presentation. Top notch service- every time. Always consistent.
Enjoyed Vino a couple of years ago but had not been back since it was out of sight, out of mind. Food and wine are extraordinary! Chuck Furuya was especially personable walking us through their updated menu. We ordered everything he said to and they were all great. High recommended. Surprisingly busy for a Sunday night.
Exceptional dining experience. Carbonara and Seafood Linguine were excellent. The owner stops by your table several times to inquire on your dining experience. Waitstaff Nathalie was excellent. Excellent wine selections reasonably priced. Owner will be happy to assist you in selecting right wine at the right price. Recommend this restaurant highly.
Always an excellent dining experience!
Went for Restaurant Week. This is our third year. We always look forward to this event as the menu never fails to surprise us. It is exceptional food for a reasonable price. Service is spot on! Will be back next year!
LOVE this restaurant! We have dined everywhere in the world from fine dining to hole in the wall. We frequented restaurants in downtown Honolulu, the Restaurant Row, Waikiki, and everywhere in between. In my opinion, Vino is the best in the area. The ambiance is comfortable and simple, but sophisticated. Food is superb, simple, delish, and perfect at every bite. Customer service from the hostess, the bartender, and wait staff are the best ever in any of the restaurants we had tried on Oahu. Wait staff spent his time explaining the ingredients and food preparation of each dish on the menu which made us the more excited to try them all. If only we can eat that much in one sitting. Each dish came out at the right time, they give you enough time to finish starters, then they bring your main dish, then dessert, and never made us feel rushed, plus wine and drink refills in between that we never had to ask and wait for. There are some restaurants in downtown that are already bringing out your main dish while you were only halfway your appetizer. This can be a major issue because the starters and main dish together do not fit a small table, and you feel rushed by not given time to enjoy each dish. The Livestock Tavern at downtown did this to us. We had to quickly finish our starters to make room on the table while the main dishes were staring at us getting cold on the crowded table. Back to Vino, their wine list is extensive, and I have not had a single one I did not like. I collect wines, but I am not a wine expert. Our wait staff provided recommendations of food and wine that we might want to try; so glad we followed his wonderful commendations. There was no food wasted nor wine leftover. We finished almost everything but took home leftover mushroom and sprouts, yum! We topped it off with a warm apple strudel with ice cream and a nicely lit candle, it was my birthday after all. Thanks for the complimentary dessert and for making our evening of dining very special.
The most welcoming restaurant in Honolulu. Each visit feels like family.
Delicious food selected from an interesting menu.
Wonderful wine list. Consistently perfect service.
Food was very good but quite rich so I recommend ordering on the lighter side. Our waitress was very attentive. Overall a nice experience, I would return.
