If only I could give higher marks!! This gorgeous historic place was better than we ever anticipated in every way...oozes ambiance, charm, history. They got everything right.
Restaurant week menu:
Salad was very good, but gorganzola had little taste and should have been crumbled and mixed in the salad.
Mussels and broth was excellent; small, tender and flavorful.
Tortellini and Gambetto were tasteless.
Restaurant looked good, nicely quiet. Needs music. Waiter provided very good service. Food delivered timely and hot. Table needs bigger candle or add flowers.
Cheesecake was very nice and tasty. Torte was too dry.
Out of all the restaurants we enjoyed while in Charleston, Vincent Chicco's was a disappointment. Several of our dishes arrived cold and bland, and the special (grouper) was overcooked.
We were celebrating two birthdays and I was really excited but I was not super impressed. Normally Italian restaurants provide bread with oil/vinegar so it was disappointing they didn’t. The caprese was bland. The bruschetta was good. My pollo Parmesan was ok. The cheese was thick and not very hot and I ended up choking on it. It’s never expected but nice for a restaurant to bring a bday desert but they did not offer even though we told them we were
There to celebrate two bdays. I do not think we will be back as there are way to many fantastic restaurants in town to settle for average.
In Charleston for marathon with family. Food and service were excellent. Our server, Natalie was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu, provided good information and answered everyone’s questions.
We enjoyed our meal and the evening. Would definitely return next time in Charleston.
We had a great time at this fine establishment. And they were so kind enough to pair a lovely champagne with our dessert!
Excellent meal and wonderful atmosphere! Go have a drink at Victors Social Club first. Dash is the head bartender (the flashy dressed bartender) he is great! Filet Florentine is excellent.
Great food and a pleasant dining experience!
This was our second time here. First time was so much better... maybe bc it wasn’t NYE like it was tonight. But by no means were they busy!! But we will not go back. The older lady - I’m assuming a GM - ignored our son totally and his polite request for cheese. So I’ll also say this place is NOT kid friendly. And there were no simple tasks like our water being refilled etc.
The restaurant seated us promptly after arriving. The food was excellent, the Salmon dish was one of the best I have ever had!
Best Italian food in Charleston!
I am pregnant so I asked if they had any mocktails. They don’t have any on the menu but told me just give them a flavor idea and they’d make me something. I said strawberry basil and they made me the most delicious drink, great flavor and not too sweet - so good my husband got one for himself too! Food was excellent too. We had the dinner and a show pre fixe menu from Charleston music hall.
Exceptional service, very flavorful food, short ribs and filet Florentine were wonderful
Changed reservation from another Italian restaurant to this one. Very disappointed! Vacationing in Charleston w/ all 5 grown kids. Table couldn’t have been any closer to kitchen. Was a struggle to get server to inquire about another table. Server never greeted us or checked to see if our meal was ok. Both chicken and veal Marsala dishes were heavily breaded and appeared fried. Probably should have asked since we were in the south. Have had both dishes many times throughout the country and never fried. The filet Florentine looked like a thin Campbell’s Chunky Soup. Sauce should have been thicker not a broth. Limited menu which I knew in advance. Pretty pricey for what we received. Should’ve kept original reservation. Will not be back.
Fabulous! My daughter and her husband joined me for dinner before the Christmas Eve service next door at the Music Hall. We had plenty of time to enjoy ourselves before the doors opened and we intended to take it slow and enjoy our time.
We were seated pomptly at our table and immediately greeted with water service, provided by a sharp dressed gentleman with a festive bow tie on and snappy jacket. ‘Tis the season! Shortly thereafter, our server for the evening presented himself and asked if we would like anything other than water to drink. I like this approach, as not everyone drinks alcohol and this is a polite and respectful way to ask for the drink order. We of course wanted to have a bottle of wine. The server was very helpful, as I don’t know much about Italian wine. We settled on a Cabernet that he recommended and it was outstanding. ( see photos )
As he presented and poured the first taste of wine , we were told about the evening specials, as well as some extra details about entrees we had questions about.
We ordered mussels for an appetizer and plenty of fresh bread for soaking up the delectable broth. Heaven !
For entrees we each chose something different . Chicken Marsala, Salmon , and the Filet Florentine.
My daughter is quite the cook, so she was curious about the Marsala, as she had just made her own a week ago. My son-in-law, who is normally a little more particular about his food, ordered the salmon over the sweet potato purée, simply at the urging of the server. He was very convincing that it wouldn’t be overwhelming, and my oh my, was he correct ! Being the carnivore that I am, the filet cooked rare, was just what I was craving. Superior ! Kudos to the chef for the perfection of the temperature and the accompanying raviolis and cremed spinach were delightful.
No dessert -because we were so satisfied, but two Americano coffees were the perfect ending to a quite enjoyable evening. Many thanks to the entire staff! :-)
Bowl of macaroni with a little meat. Not enough for the price. Including a salad would encourage us to re visit
We had 6 ladies who are very picky and each of us enjoyed Vincent Chicco's immensely the service was outstanding the food delicious beautiful surroundings. Will visit again...loved the lounge next store as well very elegant!
We started off with the bruschetta & a caprese salad. Both were amazing & set the bar high for the main meal. I had a pasta with a delicious Sunday gravy. My daughter had a mushroom & fettuccine dish that was just delicious. Way to much food, with more than enough for another meal.
The restaurant is very charming, with exposed beams, & brick walls. Beautiful fine, with very comfortable semi circle booths.
This is a must visit when your in Charleston.
Visiting Charleston and so many choices for dinner, but Vincent Chicco’s didn’t disappoint. The service was on point and the bruschetta may be the best I’ve ever eaten.
Our visit was way beyond our expectations. The atmosphere of the restaurant is charming. I had the Veal Marsala and my partner had the braised beef rib. The Tiramisu was wonderful and definitely sharing size. The food was some of the best Italian we’ve had. Our Server Thomas and all of the staff were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Vincent Chicco’s when you are in Charleston.
The restaurant was very cold and uncomfortable throughout the entire meal. Was warmer in the ladies room -which is where I went to warm my hands. The manager was very attentive. Not my favorite chicken piccata as Italian restaurants go.
Linda, we are so sorry the temperature was uncomfortable. Thank you for taking the time to rate us and share your experience. Hope to host you again soon and that the next dish will wow you! Happy holidays, Holy City Hospitality
We are there twice and the food and service were excellent! Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a terrific Italian dinner.
Thank you for the recommendation. We really appreciate it. So glad you enjoyed your cuisine and service while visiting us. We hope to host you again soon. Happy Holidays, Holy City Hospitality
Celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary.
Caesar salad was great. I think it had bits of whole white anchovies in it. My wife had a sliced steak with olives and peppers that was cooked perfectly. I had the veal piccata. The breading was thick and sopped up a lot of juice and grease, which made it really soggy. I ended up scraping most of it off. There were the biggest capers I've ever seen and lots of them. The capers and the lemon overwhelmed any other flavor. Just too much. It should have been a more delicate flavor. The pasta was weird. It was kind of translucent, like rice noodles. I ended up leaving it.
Most of the staff was very good, though main server was pretty distracted and not very attentive. The food and atmosphere were great. Would come back again
Thank you so much taking the time to rate your recent dining experience at Vincent Chicco’s! We are glad you had an enjoyable time with us and we hope to see you again soon. Best, Holy City Hospitality
Service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant gets a lot of bleed over noise from the adjacent and connected Victor Social Club. Decor is striving for Old World elegance, and furnishings were comfortable. We shared a caprese salad for an appetizer, and the tomatoes were cold, as in had been refrigerated- which ruins the flavor of a good tomato. The fresh mozzarella was good and the balsamic dressing was nice. The pasta with puttanesca sauce featured what seemed to be house-made al dente pasta that was good. The sauce had whole cooked cherry tomatoes and whole olives, with anchovies and capers of course. While the sauce was pretty good, I felt it would have benefited from at least coarsely chopping the vegetables and crushing the anchovies so that the flavor was better distributed among the pasta. The spaghetti and meatballs had lovely, delicious meatballs. The sauce was nothing to knock your socks off. Not offered was a sprinkle of fresh ground parmigiana, which would have been appreciated. Given the plethora of amazing restaurants in Charleston, we may not be back.
Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your recent visit to Vincent Chicco’s and we hope you will join us again soon. Best, Holy City Hospitality
Upon entry to exit we were treated with great courtesy and attention. The food was excellent! And because it was a birthday dinner, we were given a desset surprise!
Joan, We are so glad you had a great dining experience with us & were attended to with great courtesy. Thank you for taking the time to share. We look forward to hosting you again soon! - Holy City Hospitality
Good level of attention and knowledge by our server. Food and wine were very good. Quiet ambience was perfect for business.
Thank you so much for your kind review. We love to hear that you and your family were here dining and breaking bread with us. That is the vision we have always had for our restaurant. We hope to host you all again soon. - Holy City Hospitality
This has been one of my favorites ever since it opened on Hutson’s Alley. We haven’t been there for several months so we decided to go last weekend. It seems to have changed, losing its feeling of being a high-end, special place. My caprese appetizer was unexceptional and the veal Parmesan ranks below average for “checkered tablecloth” level restaurants. It still carries a hefty price tag, though. I hope they try to get back to their roots! We used to really love their food and the experience, but we’re now unsure about whether we will return.
Great opportunity to have the family sit around the table and break bread, laugh and feel as if we’re at home! Great service and food!
The restaurant is noisy. The menu is limited and the food is at best average. The one meal in Charleston that i wish i had a do over on.
Thank you for taking the time to share your most recent dining experience. We apologize that your visit was less than exceptional. - Holy City Hospitality
I’ve been to Charleston on business for each of the last 10 years but this is my first dinner at VC’s. The fettuccine with mushroom sauce is THE BEST I have ever had! When I come back to Charleston next November, VC’s will def be the first dinner I have!
William, We are honored to have you rate our mushroom sauce as THE BEST. We really appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to host you again soon. - Holy City Hospitality
We were looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in Charleston and were somewhat disappointed. The service and pizzas were very good, but the rest of our dinner was just fair. Our biggest concern was the freshness of the ingredients. We will try the restaurant again to see if this was a fluke or not.
hank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your recent visit to Vincent Chicco’s and we hope you will join us again soon. Best, Holy City Hospitality
Visiting Charleston for the first time. Reviews looked good and this place did not disappoint. Excellent service, romantic ambience and fabulous food. Sausage stuffed Peppers, outstanding warm beet salad, pear and prosciutto pizza and Calabria pizza were all delicious. Highly recommend.
Loud pop music and lackluster food execution.
Our server was phenomenal! Always anticipating our needs. The place was beautiful and mood was nice and relaxed. Wish it would have been a little livelier, but it was a Sunday night.
Cathy, We are so glad you had a great server and experience with us recently at Vincent Chicco's! We look forward to hosting you again in the future. - Holy City Hospitality
Went her for impromptu date night, and it was a great find. The food was delicious, best pizza I’ve had in a long time. The service was fabulous too. We’ll be going back very soon.
Window above us leaked throughout the dinner and we received an apology.
In the beginning service was slow. We were attending the Chris Botti show at 8:00 pm. Dinner reservations were 6:15 bu t had to return after the show to get our dessert as we ran out of time. Food was just so, so.
Beautiful setting, wonderful food and great service. Very much enjoyed my dinner
