Vin de Set
Book your next event with us
Items offered in brunch buffet were Luke warm at best and some just plain cold
We really like Vin de set but this trip was a bit disappointing. The crab stuffed sole off-menu item was outstanding but I found the Mediterranean mussels disappointing. The broth was watery and flavorless although the mussels were fresh and cooked very well. My date had the crouque major which was excellent, but the frites were soggy and cold. To his credit, our server offered a complimentary dessert.
The menu was deceiving. Rack of lamb, was not on a rack and very small
Magnificent service, wine, food, and atmosphere. We got a lovely creme brulee on the house and a card signed by the staff for our anniversary!
Booked a reservation for New Year’s Eve at Vin de Set. Service was impeccable, and the view of St. Louis was amazing. It was louder than usual because of the event, but the food was subpar compared to their usual output. Overall ok experience. Would go back for lunch/dinner but not for their New Year’s Eve dinner.
Second year we were disappointed with New Year's Eve offerings. Dishes seemed to be pre-prepared with speed of production being the focus instead of quality and taste. Get the diners in and out as fast as possible. Never thought escargot could have been non-yummy. New twists are not neccessarily good twists. Some combinations of multiple flavors were over the top giving the feeling of being overdone.
We went for a New Year’s eve dinner and ran late but they were still accommodating. The inside was very nice and the staff seemed friendly. Our server was great and food came out fast. We ordered the “jumbo shrimp cocktail” but it’s not jumbo at all. I had the Duck Confit for my entree and it was a bit dry, which made it hard to swallow. I did not say anything to my server because we were short on time. It was still a good experience. Would recommend
Great service and food
Delicious brunch, warm atmosphere, and attentive staff. Even better, it was not super noisy. You really felt like you could relax and enjoy your time there.
Fantastic date night! Wife's filet was perfect. My seabass was seriously the best I have ever had. The carrots, turnips, and rutabaga mix was soooooo good. Not sure what the veggies were tossed in but oh so delicious. Finally, the desert was mascarpone cheesecake and was a crazy good desert we never have tried. Service was good except was never offered a refill on my coffee. For $125, shouldn't have to ask. Otherwise, the server was friendly and helpful. Never had a bad meal here.
Dinner at Vin de Set was fabulous. Three of us ate and each had a different entree; sea bass, lamb and filet...all were beautifully presented and delicious. We will definitely return on our next visit to St. Louis.
Absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere. Beautiful views. Service was a little slow but nothing too bad. Hard to get to the physical restaurant. My advice: park in the big lot around back. Look at the place on your favorite map app, then go to the NORTH side of the building, that's where the entrance is.
Our waiter was fantastic with pairing recommendations, local attractions and the maple marscapone cheesecake was fantastic!
Love this place. The variety on the menu will please almost everyone. Great service offered with an amazing view.
Nice pre theatre dinner
Food was mediocre and very expensive.
The service was wonderful. Food was amazing. We had a wonderful time and will be back soon!
Enjoyed Sunday brunch. Excellent and varied selection. Everything was very good.
We had a Sunday bruxh
Food and ambience was great. One of our favorite places to go for a special date night.
Being French we were expecting much more. The food was not really good and didn't taste French. Price is high though.
The Best French multi course meal in St. Louis. The view and ambiance matched the food!
Steak charred and over-cooked. Underwhelming service. Maybe an off night.
Food was good but service was slow, despite restaurant not being that crowded. We asked to be relocated inside as the propane heaters smelled in the outdoor seating area, and we were accommodated.
The cauliflower soup was great but a little saltier than I am used to. I had the Chilean seabass. It was excellent. My wife had the tenderloin which was cooked perfectly. Her potatoes were really good also. We had the cheesecake for desert. Once serving was just enough for the two of use.
Have not been for a while but are reminded how good the food is
The food at this restaurant is OUTSTANDING. The mushroom crepe is the best I've ever had! Kudos to the chef!
Have eaten at Vin de set many many times, but this was our first time eating inside the dining room. We were seated overlooking the St. Louis Wheel. Nearly as nice as sitting outside on the lovely deck. Our waitress Patty was so sweet and very attentive. Our party of four loved our delicious dinner. It was a perfect dining experience and cannot wait to return!
My wife and I look forward to going to any of the Hamilton Hospitality Restaurants for special occasions, and the servers always make us feel special.
Poor greeting and hosting. Ignored us and had to wait for our table even though we had a reservation. Also both of our cocktails were way too sweet and had to be sent back. Food was very good. But the ambiance was unexpected and seemed tacky with turf carpeted floors.
We went here for our 1st Anniversary! It was delicious and they even gave us a free dessert to celebrate! The only thing I would say is, at times, they seemed a little understaffed due to having to wait for our waiter or someone to come by in order to ask for bread or another drink. But the food and ambiance was amazing!
We've eaten at Vin De Set many times, and always enjoyed the experience. However, this trip the menu changed, taking our favorites off the menu and replacing with items, that were not as enticing. We returned our crepes because something in the crepe was burnt / bitter. We then got our main course and it too was burnt / bitter. We would be hard pressed to return due to the quality of the food.
We enjoyed the experience overall. Our food and drinks were good. The only flaw was that we arrived about 15 minutes early and were seated at the bar until our table was available. About 30 minutes after our reservation, we were told our table was "ready". We decided to stay at he bar.
Dinner with friends on Friday evening. Very good meal as well the service. Waiter was great...funny too! Our 3rd time at Vin de Set. Will be back!
We went for our anniversary dinner after reading mixed reviews and deciding it was worth taking a chance. We had a lovely dinner in spite of a few things that put us off. We made reservations and did not have to wait. We were seated with a great view of the city and given a complimentary glass of champagne. We both ordered specials mine was a filet over mashed potatoes with asparagus. It came out lukewarm as if it had all been prepared earlier and then plated but not kept very warm. None of it was bad but not excellent. My husband had the tuna and his was a good temp but just not mind blowing at all. I will say the appetizers of crab bengiets were GREAT! Best thing we ate there. I ordered a drink and never received till after the check was brought and I told her not to worry about the drink and right after, someone brought it to me... our waitress seemed confused and distracted the entire time. I wouldn’t give it another try based on the experience and 100 tab.
I expected more, especially from the food. The Chateaubriand was delicious, though a bit salty in places, but the asparagus and mashed potatoes were only lukewarm and had no flavor. The profiteroles were tiny ; one was burnt, and I couldn't distinguish among the flavors. Years ago I had much better meals here, so I was doubly disappointed. Expensive, hyped, but once past the hype, it's not good value.
This restaurant suited our needs perfectly as we entertained an out of town visitor. The conversation level was perfect. We loved looking at the new wheel . Would like larger windows for wintertime dining.
Though Vin de Set has been a favorite for a while, I have found that it is a great place to stop on the way to a show at the Fox. Easy in and out, great food and ambiance at the bar. Easy trip to the Fox. Option to drink on HH prices (prior to showtimes), but still order for the regular menu as an option. We'll be making it a regular stop for this season!
The rooftop bar is pretty awesome, but the dinner experience fell a little short. The food was OK. The frites are great -- top notch. The rest of the meal was delicious but unexceptional. The escargot and the steak were on the warm side rather than hot. Most surprisingly, the wine list was limited and pretty unimpressive. I expected more. I would definitely go back for a drink or a light nosh, but I'm not in a hurry to head back for dinner.
Excellent gem. Food and service was extraordinary. Everyone should give this place a try.
