Vin de Set Ratings and Reviews
our dinner was ridiculous. the heaters emitted a horrible smell of gas that didn't dissipate. the fish was awful. my husband only had an appetizer and a salad, i had a salad and bouillabaisse, we split a mediocre bottle of wine - and the tab was $150 per couple. if it had been good, or had the ambiance been pleasant...but such was not the case.
We chose Vin De Set for our one year anniversary and were not disappointed. The Maître D' welcomed us and made us feel at home. He (John) even took pictures for us due to our missed photo shoot before hand.
The entire waiting staff and patrons made it an extra special night. They were all attentive and happy to celebrate our occasion.
I couldn't recommend Vin De Set more for a special night out. We will be back.
Charlie, our server. Was absolutely fantastic! This place was very good and the only two draw backs were the street noise was noticeable, and certain items were not as tasty as they sounded and looked. (Scallops and ratatouille ravioli) However, the beat and pistachio crepes and Chilean Bass were fantastic. Overall we really liked the restaurant and staff and experience!!!
Consistently innovative- Consistently clean - Consistently fresh! My wife and I average a couple of visits per year and VIN DE SET never disappoints. Everything from the seasoned butter and olive tapenade to the closing decaf Americano was stellar at our visit.
Ambiance on the outdoor deck was great. Food was mediocre at best and they ran out of the soup special. Sea bass was tasteless and about 2 oz of fish in a small bowl. You may have to order appetizers, soup and dessert in addition to a dinner entree to get enough to eat
The food was exceptional, but the service was lackluster at best. We had a reservation, but had to wait at the bar (where the bartender complained to us that he shouldn't have been working that night) for nearly 40 minutes. I'm confident we were forgotten about. First course (cheese plate, shrimp crepes) was great. Mains were solid as well: Kale salad, frites, and the whole Black Sea Bass special with green beans, mushrooms. It was odd that our server didn't ask us if we wanted the fish de-boned, and only brought an extra plate after seeing a fish head on the table. After we finished, we sat with empty plates and water glasses for 15 minutes waiting for a check. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night, but the service was really poor.
