Vin de Set

Outdoor seating is the best part of Vin. If you are indoors, be prepared for a loud dining experience...
Food is New Orleans “French”, not Parisian French by any means!
Perfect evening with a great rooftop patio and view of the arch. Loved the food and service!
Cocktails and entree were delicious. Rooftop dining at it's best.
This was my first time at this restaurant, and it exceeded my expectations. It helped that the weather was outstanding for dining on the rooftop--plus the Blues had just won the Stanley Cup the night before. I really appreciated the flexibility on the lunch trio when choosing the sandwich. Portions were more than adequate--couldn't handle a dessert afterwards. I look forward to repeat visits!
Failed to meet expectations. I do not recommend and would not return.
* Horrible wine list - server wasn't familiar with the list or pairings
* Overcooked fish and scallops
* Very poor service
Good service. Good food. Front door not readily apparent to first time visitor.
Wonderful welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff with beautiful rooftop views of the city. The buffet food was excellent and not overly cooked as some can get. Dessert choices were exquisite. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary.
Outstanding!!! My wife and I dined at Vin de Set as part of our anniversary, and could not have had a better experience. The food, service and ambiance are all excellent. We highly recommend dining outside on the roof top patio, which is just stunning ... a true treasure.
Went for lunch on a weekday for a friend’s birthday and we had a fabulous time! The food was delicious, they had just started a bogo drink special, and we enjoyed sitting on the rooftop with the view! What stood out most was the service - everyone was very friendly and attentive! And they surprised us with a creme brûlée dessert and card signed by the staff for the birthday girl! I would definitely recommend this spot!
Great food and despite a sudden storm the waitress and her team worked to make sure our outdoor dining experience was enjoyable. Quick change to fully covered area and did not miss a beat.
The buffet food temperature was not even warm. We brought it to the attention of managemen
Very cute rooftop dining area. The brunch buffet was lovely! We will be back!
Lovely patio seating. Delicious wines, cocktails, appetizers. Good mains and desserts. Excellent service.
Vibe is great. I thought the seafood selection would be a bit more exciting
For outdoor dining, one of the best in St. Louis.
Wonderful experience all around!!
Not a single dissapointment, the food and service were top notch!
The best place about a fancy French restaurant shouldn't be the bread and butter. I ordered the chicken cordon blue and my friend got the trout. Both were mediocre in cooking, technique and flavor. For $25+ I'd expect more than a grilled chicken breast with deli meat and cheese melted on top. The lyonnaise was insanely overdressed - more mayo than salad. The staff was very kind, service was great and atmosphere was nice, but the food was a huge disappointment.
Food and cocktails were amazing- our waiter was very knowledgeable, kind, and attentive! Highly recommend the baked Brie for an appetizer.
Terrific service and wonder ambiance. One of the best restaurants in St. Louis for alfresco dining. Food is good. Pre-fixe menu is a good way to go.
I recommend Vin de Set to anyone wanting a nice romantic dinner out. Their outside patio is lovely and the food is outstanding. Their wine list is great. What's not to like?
Vin de Set could be incredible, but overall, it was just okay. They are lucky to have the rooftop patio, which makes the entire evening special. I was unimpressed with the food. We went because we were gifted a gift card by family members for Christmas that had various restaurants on it, and perhaps we should have chosen another place to spend it. We got a bottle of wine and two steaks and spent about $150. We would love to go back, but it's quite hard to plan to spend money there when you know the food is just okay. It's not hard to make a great steak. My fiance got the ribeye special and I got the strip steak on the menu, both were supposed to be cooked medium rare. I'm always skeptical when servers don't write anything down. I don't care how "nice" the place is, probably 50% of the time they get something wrong. It's not the server's fault; honestly, I'll never understand why management thinks that's beneficial to the experience... Anyway, my steak came out well done, like a hockey puck. I hated to do it, but I had to send it back. I have NEVER sent food back before, so that was disappointing. My fiance's steak was just okay. I LOVE rib eyes, but this one was especially fatty and hard to eat.
They tried to make it better, they offered me a cup of soup while I waited for a new steak to be cooked...but it was hot outside so that didn't sound very appetizing and I didn't want soup, I wanted a steak. Overall, I don't fault any one person in particular, it was just a disappointing experience. Even if the steak had been cooked right the first time, I don't think we will be eager to spend our money here knowing how many other phenomenal places we can eat in the Lou. So sorry.
Sitting inside it was pretty cold - enough coming out of the ceiling vents to blow the menu off the table. BUT, when I asked the waitress to turn it down, she happily did so. The food was really good. By the time we reached dessert, we were full but were told we really couldn't take home one of our desserts as it would be too difficult to get out of the pan. The salmon was fresh and well made. Just needed a little something more. A sauce? Excellent, regardless. Bravo!
It was okay not magical. French onion and croquettes were not worth ordering. Crab beignets were excellent. Sea bass and filet were good. Portion sizes small. Service was very good and view was nice.
Pricey. But worth every penny. Top notch food and excellent service
Excellent food and service
Loved our first experience at Vin de Set and will definitely go back. The weather was great so we enjoyed outside dining. Service was wonderful and the food was awesome!
I made a reservation for 3 on Open Table and requested the patio. Host said our reservation was for two. I said I believe it’s 3. He said no, it was for 2. I showed him the reservation on my phone for 3 and his response was “Oh”. No apology or anything.
It was very lively on the rooftop. The weather was great, not too hot, just a nice breeze. Sun went behind some clouds so it was extra nice for facing the sun.
Waitstaff was good but she had to also deal with a table of 18 so she was too busy for her other tables. Poor planning by mgmt to do that to her and the other patrons.
Ratatouille Pasta was great! Pork on bed of green lentils and chickpeas was tasty as was the steak.
We ordered a second glass of wine which never came. When waitstaff came by at last we asked what happened to the wine. She hadn’t gotten the msg from the guy who served our meals. We decided to skip coffees and desserts and just get our check and leave. Upon departure, host asked how was it. I said food was good but service was slow. Same host replied, “Oh”.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Vin de Set over the weekend. Great drinks, amazing food and unmatched atmosphere made for a very special evening.
We had a lovely evening outside on the rooftop with great views of the city. However, both my husband and I were disappointed in the food. We had eaten indoors at Vin de Set in the winter and our meal was great. The new summer menu was not as good and many of our favorites were no longer on the menu. It almost seemed as if the chef knew with beautiful weather, really great food was not required.
We ordered the sea bass special and it tasted awful, it was so disappointing as we were celebrating our daughter’s graduation.
Wonderful rooftop dinning. Great views with even better service and food.
I live in Chicago, but have been to Vin twice. Both experiences have been outstanding. The rooftop is so beautiful, comfortable and relaxing. The food is excellent and the service is top notch (very friendly, knowledgeable servers). I would go back any time!
The staff was friendly and the food was delicious, and the wine selection is extensive and varied.
I ordered from the vegan menu, and had the stuffed peppers. It was one of the tastiest dishes I've ever had.
Brunch was delicious! My mom enjoyed it as well! Very nice atmosphere.
Fortunately this brunch was not our first at Vin de Set, so we would still recommend the restaurant. The biggest disappointment was that the "hot" dishes were not hot (about room temperature) when we first went through the line. It was also surprising that there were neither omelettes nor shrimp as is usually the case. While there were a variety of desserts available, over-all the selection was not as interesting as usual.
Excellent place for special occasions, Mother's Day brunch, romantic dinners...we've enjoyed every meal at Vin de Set!
I really Love Vin de Set and the atmosphere! Everyone is kind and pleasant!
We had a wonderful Mother's Day Brunch. Our server was great and very sweet to my hangry boys! Will definitely go back.
First time — excellent dinner experience! Has fenced off parking, which is nice.
