We were seated immediately since we had a reservation. Our drink orders were taken straight away and she brought waters all around, which was a plus. She offered help with the menu and went over the specials. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. She spoke very loudly which kind of took us aback. There was also confusion about dessert. We thought we’d ordered it, she said let her know. Dessert never came, but it also wasn’t on the check. Overall it was a great dining experience.
Our waiter was Ernest. He's a great guy and brings a lot of positive energy to your table. We had a party of 5 and he had several tables of 4 people or more. Even though he was very busy, we felt as though he was paying enough attention to us. Food was great. Drinks were as well. Overall it was a fun night with great food and a great waiter.
Great service and the food was delicious! Oh and strong drinks.
The Village Tavern on Stratford Rd has a great atmosphere with a huge fireplace, high cathedral ceiling with wooden beams is the reason why I am recommending for the scenic view. It is a beautiful interior. The service by our waitress, Kristen, was quick, personable and efficient. It is not the first time that my wife and I have dined at this place, and certainly will not be the last but I do recommend advanced reservations. We arrived just before our 7:00pm reservation time and were seated within a couple of minutes. There was a line of people that did not have reservations waiting for a table.
Have been three times and have had three great experiences.
Excellent service, good food in a predictable environment. Wait staff always seems pleased that we are there.
Hospital visits brings us here and we discovered this restaurant and will continue to go there. Food is excellent so far!!
The ribeye and the service are awesome.
Loved the huge fireplace.
Everyone loved their meal, especially the deviled pimento cheese eggs - an appetizer! Yummy!!!!
Village Tavern is a great lunch spot. The food is always delicious!
VT is always a solid choice for dining. Service is good, food is above average and the ambiance is a little lacking. It’s a safe dining solution.
We have dined here many times usually for special occasions as it is a special place. We have never been disappointed.
Always a keeper for food, service and location. “Go to!”
We had reservations and were seated promptly. However, service was very slow. We had a party of 5. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. Ordered 2 baskets of biscuits ( Sunday brunch ) . They were cold. Ordered crab dip - was served with "greasy toasted" hamburger bun "points" that had been flattened on the grill. 2 in our party ordered chicken and waffles. Waffles were very thin and NOT Belgian at all. AND THE CHICKEN WAS HORRIBLE. TASTED LIKE IT HAD BEEN SOAKED IN DILL PICKLE JUICE. I'm not sure if that was part of a brine that was used OR if Village Tavern has a Fried Pickle Appetizer and the chicken was fried in the same oil as the pickles. The waitress noticed that the chicken was NOT eaten at all, but offered no comment or question as to why other than "do you want a box?" We didn't bother to ask her about it. Obviously she didn't care. Fries came out cold. Overall, very disappointed with this establishment. It has been good in the past years. But we went recently and had a similar "not so good" experience". This time was far worse and we'll think again before we return. When you pay $150 for brunch, you should get good food and service!
Fantastic Sunday brunch. Our reservation was at 10:30 am and we arrived a few minutes early to be promptly seated. The restaurant filled up quickly, but our service was great as always.
Food was great as usual and our server Mike was awesome!
The food was delicious as always! It is so pleasant to walk in with a reservation on the books! You are seated almost immediately...so glad we started using open table!
We go to Village Tavern every time we are in Winston-Salem because we live it so much! Gotta have the deviled eggs! Awesome food and service every time!
Food was amazing as usual. Our waiter was phenomenal thank you
The bad: We had to wait 20 minutes even though we had reservations; our waiter could have smiled at least once. but didn't.
The good: Lively with a nice ambiance and good food.
Excellent place for lunch or dinner. Service always great and food very consistent. We go there often
Food was excellent as usual however side items did not arrive at the table until well after the entrée was finished. Very unusual for this restaurant.
Still my favorite place in Winston-Salem. I love the location in Reynolda Village, Winston-Salem, NC as well!
Very noisy when here often. Fire warm and cozy and seats comfortable. Salmon special with BBQ and honey glaze was underwhelming-basically bbq poured on top and we couldn’t taste the honey. Salmon cooked excellent but we brushed off bbq. Salad substitute vs a side is $3.50-5 more which is crazy considering a side already paid for you are just “upgrading.” Simple lunch special and 1/2 priced glass of wine ran almost $30 after tip! Will have a hard time getting girlfriends and myself for lunch.
The host area was flooded with people who worked there but you couldn't tell cause they were all dressed in different casual clothing. There was a massive party down the middle who were basically getting all the staffs attention so we ran out of our drinks multiple times and had to search around looking for out waitress. She was great but I think they were way more busy than staff could handle. salads came out 45 min after ordering with nothing but some brownish lettuce, maybe a crouton, and 0 dressing. Food was just ok, not as good as I remembered and the bread was flavorless and dry. Overall disappointed :(
Went for Sunday brunch yesterday. Great food & great service from Kellee. Tried the breakfast bowl (something I typically wouldn't order but our server recommended it) and it was so good! Hadn't been here in years but recently moved to the area. Will definitely be back soon.
I have experienced consistent excellent food quality and service levels. It can get a little noisy when they are busy, but I quickly get over that. One of my favorite restaurants in Winston-Salem, NC!
The food was delicious. The service was outstanding!!
First visit to Village Tavern...we LOVED it! Fabulous food in a very nice atmosphere! We will definitely be back when we're in the area.
We were seated for our reservation right on time. Our server was excellent! Really great, actually. She was careful to make sure we were well cared for.
The food was excellent. No complaints from anyone our group - and some of them are really picky.
My only complaint with this location is the noise level. With a full restaurant (as it was Saturday), you can barely hear people at your table speaking. It’s really quite deafening! Fundamentally, this is a building design issue and is nearly completely correctable. Add some sound absorption to the space and bring it down a few dB’s!
Our server, Kevin, was fantastic. Unfortunately the calamari appetizer tasted strongly of fish and couldn't be eaten. The sausage and black pepper honey flatbread pizza would have been better if it wasn't dripping with honey.
Previously I had only been to the Village Tavern in Reynolda Village, but since this one took reservations my friends and I decided to come here, and we are so glad we did! The menu has a few more options than the Reynolda one, including the Cajun Seafood Pasta which I had and it was incredible! My friends and I all got pasta dishes and all we could say was how good it was. Will definitely be coming back again and again!!
A wonderful evening as always great food superb service!
Excellent service and delicious s food.
Food was great. Had a wonderful waitress and the atmosphere seated in front of the fireplace was special for a belated Valentine's Day.
Very busy Sunday - server was friendly but inconsistent. We all received our order at different times. My pizza was soggy
One of my favorite places to eat
Always enjoy VT. Solid menu and good service. I’d always recommend it for family and friends. That said I was a bit surprised to pay $5 for a “large” orange juice. Otherwise typical expected excellence.
Tim, our server, was excellent! And the food was delicious! We really enjoyed it!
