Lobster filled ravioli in a light cream sauce with minced shrimp and fresh dill
Pasta alla Puttanesca
Extra virgin olive oil, garlic, fresh tomato, diced black olives, capers, anchovies and a touch of chili over pasta
Very slow service unfortunately. Good food, not great food. Amazing tiramisu.
Maybe we caught them on a bad night. The reason for my review is the Cosmo martini I order was awful. When you pay $16 for a martini you want it to taste like a $16 martini. It was mostly cranberry and barely shaken. Also, we sat down at 7 and our app came out fairly quick waited a long time for bread and our meal came out at 9:46!!! 2 hours and 15 min for an entree yikes! The food was good and a good portion. Probably won’t go back there again. Many other better places in N.End.
Son’s 1st time in Boston
Villa Francesca is a classic North End Italian Spot with great food and wonderful warm service. The dessert is spectacular. Drinks are good, but sometimes inconsistent.
Excellent food and superb service!
Terrible service. Food was not worth the cost. Will not return.
Outstanding all around
Traveling with my daughter.
Party of 6 on a Monday night. 6 pm reservation.. good service and very good food. Started picking up about 7:39 so recommended earlier for large parties
Food is good and the service was quick and friendly.
We had family from out of town. Waited 90 min for our meal. Didn’t even get bread for an hour. My meal wasn’t hot or flavorful. Very little pasta as well. Worst service, meal and value. Been living in Boston for 25 years and I’ve never given feedback on a restaurant ever.
Unremarkable food, super slow service.
The worst and slowest kitchen service in town!
How can an Italian restaurant be out of bread in the middle of the night?
Please don’t come to this place, there are plenty others better Italian restaurant in the neighborhood.
The food was disappointing to fair. The tomato’s in the appetizer weren’t good at all. The special pasta dish that they make at your table was cold. The veal parmigiana was
the only dish that was tasty and hot. the chicken dish we got was rubbery & cold. The cannoli’s for dessert were good, it was pretty cool how the waitress made them at the table.
The waitress had a very hard time understanding us. She was sweet but it was definitely a problem having a waitress that didn’t understand english.
Delicious Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again.
great meal and great service and friendly staff.
Fabulous food, atmosphere, and service. A "go to" place for a special occasion!
First time trying this place. Host was able to seat us an hour ahead of our reservation which was great. Food was mediocre for the price. Experience was poor due to our waitress. Very poor service - not a smile the entire evening. She was not friendly and not interested to serve us, very short. She also seemed intentionally slow to bring out Parmesan (stood in front of us with it but talked to other waiters) holding us up from starting our meals. Then she dropped the Parmesan block into one of our meals and then proceed to pick both pieces up with her bare hands, place it back and then offered us Parmesan. No apologies offered. Made for an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. None of us would not be returning.
Overall good. Food was tasty. Outside seating is on a little incline so you’re on an angle a bit. White wine wasn’t chilled. Small things to detract but overall a good experience.
We arrived at 10:30 PM on Friday and it was our first day in Boston. We were celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary. Our server, whose name I can't remember, was very nice and sat us at a table near the window that looked out onto this busy sidewalk. We ordered the special for the night and shared a great big lobster with fettuccine and a wonderful bottle of Chianti. Our service, the food,, and overall experience was excellent, and we would go back to Villa Francesca's and highly recommend it to our friends and family.
We’ve been going to Villa Francesca for years and this was the first bad experience we have had there. Despite the low number of patrons on this Wednesday night dinner, the service was terrible. The waitress was absent most of the meal, it took 3 times of asking for water before it showed up, 2 of the 4 meals were wrong and had to be sent back, the calamari was rubbery…
Just a bad night for them. Have been there several times since the easing of pandemic rules and the experience was great (outside dinning is wonderful), but not this time. Hope things get better soon for our favorite North End restaurant.
never disappointed. had the chicken marsala and it was perfect.
Fathers Day dinner with my family.
As expected, the food, service and dining environment was exceptionally nice. Felt like a private evening, with a great table at the window. Host/manager was overly accommodating and kind.
Highly recommend for any occasion!
Best marinara, lobster ravioli was amazing, Caesar salad was so fresh and crisp, shrimp scampi was perfectly seasoned, spaghetti pesto was incredibly flavorful, veal parm was fantastic. Order La Sexy Sangria - refreshing Summer cocktail. Strawberry gelato was really good! We will be back. Again. And again. Thank you for such an incredible experience - we sat outside and our waitress was phenomenal.
This was my second visit to Villa Francesca and it was quite disappointing. Our party of 5 was seated quickly. The server took some time to take our drink orders and even longer to actually receive the drinks. It was immediately clear that the server was new so we were patient with the process. The drinks finally arrived and two were returned as they tasted awful and alternative drinks were ordered. They arrived a bit faster.
Bread and olive oil were brought to the table. For a restaurant in Boston's North End with amazing bakeries, I do not understand why Villa Francesca would use soft, non-crusty bread. It was terrible but we ate some as we waited over an hour to get any of the food we ordered and when the two of the three appetizers finally arrived they were cold and had to be returned. The third was the shrimp appetizer which was made up of a few pathetically small shrimp. The main courses arrived at different times but were at least somewhat warm.
Overall, the experience was poor and I will not be returning. Others are advised to look somewhere else and ignore the better reviews from the past.
Pleasant but slow service. Dinner took 90 minutes.
Fantastic food. Been here multiple times, never disappointed!
Food is excellent - good variety on memu
Staff extremely helpful with recommendations! Excellent food and service!
Had dinner outside so not sure about interior ambience and noise. Bread was ok. Pasta dishes were very good.
Very good food, enormous portions, and friendly service.
As usual, Villa Francesca provides a wonderful experience for dinner. This was my first dinner out in Boston with all pandemic restrictions lifted on May 29, 2021. Some staff had masks and some had no masks. The same was true for customers. All were welcoming and polite and attentive. Snapper last night was perfect as well as the simple, clean antipasto. The three of us had different main courses, all with red sauce. We tried each other's dishes and all the sauces had their own unique taste and texture. They are doing home made sauces and pasta and also offer raw oysters. During lunch, there is often a $1 oyster special. I will continue to visit often.
As always, great food! Great service and great atmosphere!!
Ran out of meatballs bf 2pm, decent food nice staff, a little slow considering it wasn’t busy
Great food and service as always. I accidentally spilt my drink on me when a bug flew at my while dinning outside. Not only did our server bring my soda water to get the stain out, he got me an entire new drink. Best server around!
Guests in town
Horrible service. Waitress did not check on us once. Had to grab her attention and ask for drinks and to put order in. Waited 30 min for check. After a 3 hour dinner (for 2) I will not being going back or recommending this place. Worst experience I’ve ever had in the north end
Very frustrated that we were not informed we would be required to order a full dinner meal each since we had a reserved a table even though neither of us were drinking. Will not be going back.
Good food and great service! We'll visit it on a return trip to Boston!
Thank you for an exceptional dining experience!
