We enjoyed a delicious dinner with neighbors. Dining room was quiet on on a September Thursday. Entrees were all delicious and our server Blanca was terrific!
This place was recommended to me for its scenic view and ambience. That part was enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service didnt meet our expectations. My party of 2 sat outdoors and we werent attended to in a timely matter. Following our beverages our appetizer took almost an hour to come out. We also noticed tables surrounding us had bread. We had to ask a bus boy if we have to request the bread and he said we should of been served already. So we waited some more... once we finished our appetizers it took our waitress almost 40minutes to return. Needless to say, we got our bread with our entrees. So disappointing.
We had to stop other waiters so that they could grab her for us. We wouldve appreciated atleast an apology for the extreme wait and lack of service. Maybe it's because we were outdoors. We'd only return because our entrees were amazingly delicious. Id hesitate to recommend this place due to poor service.
Food was very very good and the ambience as well. Service was very much on the slow side. The entrance and bathrooms could have been tidier. Given that it is on the expensive side, not sure why these small attention to details were overlooked.
Great ambience, good food good service! The View is great and the food plus service make it a good place for a date, a party or any other evening.. it's a bit noisy
Went for an anniversary dinner. Great view, great service, thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine. A bit pricey but I would definitely go again.
Food and service were excellent. A very attentive staff and beautifully presented meal.
The restaurant has a fine quality ambiance and the menu reflected the same. We ended up with lobster and the short ribs (also known as Dish of the Year) and started with Peking Duck Tacos and Crab Cakes. Everything was delicious. The service could have been more consistent. I don't really like it when more than 3 people are serving us (we were only 2 people). But the servers were very sweet. Drinks were okay..could be better. The restaurant has a pretty decor and delightful South Bay setting. I would recommend it for a special occasions and family gatherings.
The service was extremely slow and inattentive. Hopefully it was just our waitress.
Anniversary dinner with AB great happy hour to start
The view is the best part of View. The eight of us had varying reviews on our orders. Some did not like their entre, others were fine. The standout was the Filet Mignon. The scallops tended to be sweet. The food is plentiful but hit or miss.
We have dined at The View before and our daughter wedding reception is being held there on November 3rd. The food is delicious and the staff attentive. We started with duck tacos that were superb. Burgers and seafood pasta entrees were great too! We look forward to the affair In Nov. knowing that Courtney is taking care of the arrangements. Cannot beat the views of the water on a beautiful day.
When we arrived at the View and were seated by a window overlooking the water we thought this would be a wonderful evening. Although the service was ok the food was a great disappointment. This was the second time we had a bad experience with a dinner at the View but thought we would give it another try. Certainly not a good value and for us and the View it’s two strikes and they are out.
The food was very good but the portions very small. I left feeling like I had 2 appetizers instead of an appetizer and entree.
Enjoyed our night out, great food , great service , overall nice experience
Me and my husband went there for our first year anniversary on Thursday, everything was great. The manager, our server Danielle and the busser did a great job. The food was soo good, the view couldn't get better. I love Lessings company and their restaurants. I would deffenitly be back.
Had a lovely evening at the View, only complaint is that the food came out within 10 minutes of ordering which was way too fast since we had ordered a bottle of wine and wanted to relax and enjoy a glass with bread service before eating.
food was not that good
if this place was on a side road you would not go back
it is the view that makes this place
The service was good but the food was pricey and we waited almost 50 min for our food to come out.
We have eaten dinner here many times and the food and service has always been excellent. You can’t beat the water views when eating dinner outside. Especially as the sun goes down and the moon starts to rise.
Great view at the View. What ‘s better than sitting on the water eating a great dinner!
Can’t beat the view, we sat outside and if I’d tripped I’d have been in the wet, a truly on the water place, outstanding. But I was disappointed by the food. It was mostly good but I expected better than good. I had the root beer short ribs and they were dry, and I tried my son’s Thai calamari, and the only reason I tried it several times was to double check that it wasn’t a bad as I thought, almost plastic in its texture. Crab cakes were ok, but nothing special, and one of the steaks was medium vs med rare. If this was Houlihan’s or Chili’s I wouldn’t have thought twice, but it’s not. Will I go again? Yes. But only to see if this was an off night.
We had an excellent first experience at the View. We were celebrating an anniversary and everything was exceptional from the service to the food.
Thai calamari and iceberg salad are everything! Great and fresh sushi. Recommend the pan seared scallops.
The food was good & service was great. I came here with my fiancé for our anniversary dinner & we had a wonderful time. We definitely plan on revisiting.
View... that’s all it has to offer. Food wasn’t great, My entree was cold and tiny. Service was terrible, waitress came to our table to take our order and give us the check. Food runner brought dessert menu because he saw us waiting with a cleared table for 15 mins. Very disappointed.
Food was delicious. The restaurant is on the water and beautiful.
Great Food Great Service
My husband and I have been to The View a few times and we have enjoyed every experience.
The food was decent but not outstanding. If not for the beautiful views, I would probably not return. We sat outside and service was so-so. I overhead the waitress tell the table next to us that she was "sorry!" that she forgot to pick up their drinks at the bar- which were now warm in the summer heat. The patrons didn't even know what to say about their warm wine. Understaffed or incompetent, not sure.
Beautiful table on the water....great service. Not rushed at all! Calamari was amazing.
Took advantage of Wednesday wine special.
Enjoyed the scallops with risotto.
Was sorry to learn that they only serve sushi Wed thru Sunday
Beautiful, romantic atmosphere with hard to find waterfront dining. Food was okay with small portions and spicyness should have been noted.
The restaurant is beautiful; the interior is calm and serene, with ample views of the water.
Seated at a table for two, next to a large window, the service was impeccable and the food was pure bliss in every bite. I had a crab cocktail with a creamy lemon aioli followed by the yellofin tuna in a coconut curry emulsion. It was beyond delicious.
Dessert was a not too tart not too sweet raspberry tart paired with a glass of Cointreau that polished the meal off perfectly.
I would recommend the View to anyone that takes pleasure in a great meal!
I loved this restaurant, the view was beautiful, the food was delicious, the drinks were fabulous. The service needs some work. I made reservations, and we arrived early for drinks, we requested outdoor seating. The hostess explained it was first come first serve. We were fine with that, but she didn’t want to take our name for outdoor seating, which we thought was strange. We asked her if she wanted to take our name and she said no. She started to seat other people outside, and had to remind her that we were waiting. The waitress was nice, but would disappear for long periods when we asked for more drinks and salt and pepper. It was so frustrating, but the bus boys were happy to help!!! I just have one suggestion for outdoor seating area: umbrellas would have been nice. It was a super hot day, and the sun was beating down on us. Even though the service needed work, this place is great.
Great waterfront dining! Food was very good, nice band and good service
Food and service are great but we need to go at any OTHER time than Sat evening when the noise level is impossible!
First time here with my husband for a date night & it was amazing.
We sat a few feet from the water & it was marvelous!
Food was great, waiter was very knowledgeable about the foods allergen information and accommodating to my 11 mo old who needed 3 spoons (kept dropping them) while eating the avocado the waiter brought out for him all cut up.
My wife and I have not been to View for years. We gave it a chance and we’re not disappointed. Decor and ambiance was terrific mostly from the clean look of the interior, big windows with the View into Nicoll Bay and Great River. Duck tacos with sweet and salty Hoisin sauce in a light wonton shell, what could be more delicious? Lobster pasta special was solid with a balance of summer fresh seafood and the comfort of a hearty bowl of pasta. Sushi grade white tuna over forbidden purple rice was creative and delicious to the last bite. The menu leaves many interesting and classic dishes to try on our next visit.
Very accommodating for a dairy free person
Service was good and Delicious Good food
Beautiful bay view loved the round corner table for a family celebration
