My fiancé and I celebrated our engagement here, overall a nice restaurant for special occasions. We had reservations and were seated fairly quickly at a corner table overlooking the river. The only downfall was our 2 hour wait for our food. Luckily there was live music for entertainment and once our food arrived it was amazing. Overall a nice restaurant.

Nice place with great atmosphere. Our appetizer came out cold but the server was happy to replace. A helper who brought out our entree, spilled the sauce all over my leg. He apologized and it was cleaned up. After that the manager comped our appetizer (which I feel should have been comped anyways bc it was originally frozen in the middle). All and all our server was great and the meal was pretty good.

All around one of my favourites except there was a wedding reception that had music so LOUD we couldn't hear each other speak and the Christmas tree shook like it was going to fall at any second!

We came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was my second time dining at Vic's, but that was years ago. The food was excellent and the wait staff very attentive. I would definitely come back again.

This place was recommended to us and we would of had a great experience but our waitress (Jamie) lacked social skills and had no personality. The food was good and the place was very pretty and in a great location. The fried green tomatoes were very salty and had to send back. Would try again and hopefully have a better experience.

We stopped at Vic’s for Friday lunch. The weather was great for early December, so we elected to sit outside. It took awhile to get drinks and order our meal. We were really impressed with our food, both the shrimp & grits and pulled pork.

Sadly, the service was dreadful. Our server might have had too many tables, but I never saw her HUSTLE to make up for it. Our server was also unfriendly, which didn’t help. When a server passes my table and purposefully won’t make eye contact, that’s usually a telling sign.

We had to ask the manager for a check. I did something I haven’t done in 20 years, leave a 10% tip.

Same great service, ambience, et al. Wasn’t as impressed with the food this visit. Appetizer: fried chicken livers were undercooked. Entree: Shrimp and grits ... unimpressive. Shrimp were big and cooked just right. However, grits were not creamy but almost stiff. Seasoning was rather bland.

My husband and I live in Boston, and were in Savannah during his birthday. I wanted to take him for a nice lunch. Reviews of Vic’s were mixed, but I thought we’d try it. If I could have given them 10 stars all around, I would have.

When I booked the reservation, I noted that we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. The hostess who seated us wished him a “happy new year” because it’s a new year for him. Nice touch.

We shared the calamari appetizer. The flavor combo of the peppers, sauce and feta cheese were out of this world. Best calamari we’ve had anywhere. I had the grilled redfish as my entree, and my husband had the day’s special, crabmeat stuffed shrimp with pasta. Both of our meals were heaven on a plate. Our server, Andi, surprised my husband with a complimentary birthday dessert, complete with candle.

The food was spectacular, service impeccable yet friendly. The view of the river was glorious. If I lived in Savannah, I would go to Vic’s for every special occasion. Absolutely loved it.

The food is a advertised a very nice experience. I did not appreciate being hustled by the "fake" valet outside who offered to park my car in a free parking spot for $20. I spoke to the hostess as we left and let them know that someone was outside snagging their patrons as they were coming in and offering them valet parking. I realized this was a con, it the spot he offered was close, the real valet for Vic's was no where to be seen and I figured that if this young man needed $20 that bad he was at least going about it in a way that hurt no one... so I gave him the 20 bucks and he "watched" my car until I returned.

We were 10 minutes late for our reservation and they cancelled us. We waited for about 10 minutes for a table. While we were waiting my friend sat down on one of the chairs near the piano player who made a rude remark to her. We were seated near the service door where waiters and busboys were constantly going in and out. I asked for another table and waited another 5 minutes only to be lead to a table opposite the other service door! At that point we just sat down. Our server proceeded to pour ice water into our glasses and twice spilled the water on my friend's foot. I ordered linguini and mussels which was loaded with sliced onions (never had onions in this dish) and had little taste. My friend was looking forward to the shrimp and grits as they claimed to have the best. She was very disappointed with the soggy grits and tasteless sauce. My other friend had onion soup and salad which she enjoyed. I would not recommend this restaurant. I felt like I was at a chain restaurant rather than an upscale one.

We enjoyed Vic's on the River. The food was delicious and portions were filling. The only drawback was our table was close to the entrance and to far from the window overlooking the Savannah River. The main reason I selected Vic's was to dine looking at the view.

We have loved Vic's On The River for many years as our "go to" restaurant for special occasions since the food, service and ambience were always tops. This was a disappointingly awful experience which ruined our anniversary celebration. We made reservations. I asked for a table near the windows. I understand that sometimes those accommodations are not possible. However, after we were seated at an impossibly small table crowded next to other diners, I noticed an empty table in the corner near the window with a reserved sign on it. A while after seating us, the staff seated a couple at that table which had 4 chairs as opposed to our tiny table with 2 chairs. I told the server who was brusque and rushed that our table was too small. She was unconcerned. My husband is 6'3'' and broad shouldered. He felt cramped. We do not enjoy being elbow to elbow with fellow diners. At one point as another couple was seated to my left , our wine had to be moved so they could be seated. The entire time we were seated , the hostess staff kept walking through with their seating chart. They appeared to be monitoring how fast we were progressing so they could use our tiny table for another couple to squeeze into. The room was very loud. I suppose the new room addition did not have noise control features. It on the whole was like eating in a fast food restaurant or a factory. Normally we would have stayed and enjoyed our experience but there was nothing to enjoy. We did not order dessert or an after dinner cocktail. We did not finish our bottle of wine. The food was actually good though the presentation appeared rushed. It seems that the restaurant now is only concerned with how many diners they can push through in an evening instead of creating a pleasant atmosphere in which individual diners could enjoy delicious food in a delightful environment being treated like valued guests rather than cattle herded to the trough. We will not choose Vic's again.

Overall good experience. I agree with other comments that the soup could be warmer and the food too. I would not suggest the restaurant for a group larger than 4 people. The restaurant sticks the fifth in the aisle. They do not have tables designed for more than 4 people that we saw. We had the pork chops, pecan flounder, scallops, fried shrimp and the youngest a hamburg. Something for everyone. Nice ambiance with leisurely dining and walk to the restaurant. They do have valet parking if you prefer not to walk.

Very good food but poor service. You can tell that this restaurant has poor management and that they've begun to rely on reputation instead of keeping regulars coming back. All the servers we encountered were apathetic and our own couldn't answer any questions about the menu or how things were cooked. We went here while on vacation due to its high ratings and recommendations from friends, but can't say we'd recommend it to anyone else.

Great find in Savannah. Live music (piano), and wide range of cocktails.
Service was very attentive and knowledgeable. Our server paired wine with our meal, and it was delicious.
Both the soup and the salad were really good. Unfortunately my entree, seafood bouillabaisse, was incredibly salty.
Overall I would give it 4 stars.

Seated by window with beautiful view as requested so I was excited for the dining experience. However, Chad, our server, rushed us through the entire meal while other tables seated before us in his section were noticeably evenly paced. He also seemed to assume what we wanted to eat. Tried to push Blue Point oysters and Stags Leap Chardonnay on us. Treated like amateur eaters. I've had both in the past and wasn't on the mood for them.. Assumed when we didn't want to order oysters that we didn't like them which is not the case. Entrees came out while still eating appetizer. Told not to rush on the appetizer as entrees dropped on table. Suggested we buy, a bottle of wine which would have been impossible to consume after a cocktail when dinner literally lasted 30 minutes. Dropped the check and came back, snapped it off the table and ran off before we could get out that we hadn't put payment in the folio yet. We were still enjoying our glass of wine. Crab soup was good but not warm enough. Shrimp and grits was just ok. Pecan crusted flounder didn't taste like pecans or flounder, overwhelmed by "breading". Would not go back or recommend.
