It will be impossible to ever top this Valentine's Day dining experience. The Tasting Menu with wine pairing was surely one of the most incredible dining experiences of our lives. We really approached with an open mind and let them surprise us, it was divine.
Sublime. Poetic. Absolutely delicious. One of the finest meals of our lives.
I’ve read that this could be the “ The best Italian restaurant in America”. Well, after enjoying the food and service of Vetri, I would have to agree.
Simply put it is the best restaurant in Philadelphia. If you are looking for an upscale Italian experience you would be hard pressed to find better anywhere.
The food was remarkable; the concept was misleading.
The experience is a prix fixe without the choice - not a chef's tasting. Yes, we were told that if we absolutely neeeeed a dish we can request it, otherwise, it's "up to the chef." The meal is essentially two appetizers, two pastas, one main, and one dessert. Had I known this, I would have 100% picked my own entree. And my own pastas. And my own dessert.....
Also of note, while the wine was indeed well paired, the $135 pp price tag was exceedingly over priced for 2 oz pours of wines that retail for $15-40 per bottle.
Customize your own menu, skip the pairing and order a beautiful bottle of wine for the $250.
The food was simply OK for the price of it. We left full but nothing "wow'ed" us
Well I now know why many people consider Vetri one of the top, if not thee top, Italian restaurant in the US. Wow, that was an amazing meal from top to bottom. Along with the multi breads served that are all non-processes whole grains and milled wheat flour in-house and just spectacular and well worth every carb, you will eat about sensational 16 courses. I took my mother here for her birthday dinner, and we did the chefs tasting menu with the adjusted wine pairing (new flight with every 2 courses) which was just right and perfectly paired with the chef's already perfectly balanced foods. The highlights of the evening with the sweet onion crepe in a truffle fondue that is like the best French onion soup you've ever tasted 10x. Also the kanpachi crude in mixed citrus, as well as the dry-aged primerib carpaccio. The service was perfect, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable on all fronts. What a perfect dining experience. Thank you so much Marc Vetri and team!
We let them take the lead with both the food and wine. It was as if we had actually traveled to Italy for the evening— every taste was fantastic. Service was excellent as usual as well.
We frequent this fine establishment and every time we have dined here, the food, the service the vibe is just amazing. This is definitely our go to place for our date night / special night out. Costly but very worth it.
Incredible food and service- great meal with unbelievable wine pairing
Everything was excellent from start to finish!
Amazing food, service and wine pairings. Worth splurging
Everything was amazing. The staff was extremely accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed the a la carte experience. We will definitely dine again soon
Simply the best restaurant that I've ever experienced. Exceptional! Flawless! Redefines how you think about food and wine. The price was high but worth every penny. I don't live in Philly but hope that I have the opportunity to return soon.
Vetri is an incredible dining experience overall. If you love fine dining it's definitely a place to put on your list.
Went for a Birthday; food was very good but felt rushed! Also wish we could have chosen more of the courses! I got too much citrus including in my Dessert! For my Birthday it would of been nice to have the chocolate!
6 stars if we could.
Our waiter, Bill, was outstanding and very informative.
We chose the wine tasting with our chefs tasting. Perfect pairing. Perfect evening.
Exceptional. Extraordinary. Transcendant Italian.
Great food, love the tasting menu format. Perfect spot for a special occasion. Wait staff was very professional, yet very friendly. Lots of little "extras".
Will definitely be back again.
Our anniversary was so special thanks to Vetri Cucina. From start to finish we had the most wonderful evening. Highly recommend letting Vetri Cucina do their thing by letting them choose what you eat and having each dish be an excellent surprise. Wine pairing was phenomenal.
Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe the food. The service was equally as spectacular.
As always, Vetri delivers a unique and memorable culinary experience befitting a special occasion! Remarkable flavors along with authentic Italian cuisine and top notch service.
brilliant.. simply brilliant.
This has to be one of our top dining experiences! We enjoyed the element of surprise with the tasting menu, each course surpassing the previous ones. Many highlights; favorites included the Dry Aged Ribeye Carpaccio, the Sweet Onion Crepe with Truffle Fondue, the Tortellini Pie, and the Capretto with Soft Polenta. Service was impeccable, one of the best service experiences we have had. I am sure we will return!
Best restaurant in Philadelphia. The food is out of this world. I cannot begin to explain how divine the taste of every dish was. Hats off to the chef. Impeccable staff and service. Brilliant wine menu.
One of the best meals I have ever had. The service could not have been better. If I could more than 5 stars, I would!
I’m really glad that I got to go. We had a really nice evening. It was fun and I loved the wine pairings. I wish it could have been a little bit more interactive. Our waiter definitely knows his stuff but it seemed more scripted and there were less chances for questions about the wine and food, you almost didn’t want to interrupt. It would have been good to know there are two price points for the wine pairings. The larger at $135 and the smaller at $75. For my friend who wanted to try the pairing but is not a big drinker it would have been helpful to have been made aware of that in advance. Otherwise, everything was just right.
Absolutely fantastic meal. Speechless.
Vetri is where you go to shock your flavor buds with a concentrated flavors! The many courses offered are brought out in a well orchestrated dance so to speak. They watch your rhythm and bring things out fresh and amazingly well done. My husband tried the wine pairing and was very happy. Everything was well balanced and had a synergistic effect with the food. The bill at the end of the night was making us realize we probably won’t be back for a long long time 😬
We read about this restaurant in a magazine of the top 100 restaurants in USA. We were heading to Philly for the weekend and we booked two Philly restaurants that made the list. Vetri Cucina was absolutely outstanding. Perhaps the best restaurant experience we have ever had including great restaurants in Europe, NYC, SFO, Chicago, NOLA, etc. First, the location inside an old Philly row house was intimate with perhaps 10-12 tables. Second, the concept of a tasting menu on steroids was something to appreciate and savor. Third, the service was top notch in all respects. Finally, the food quality was over the top.
About the food, the sampling of multiple small starters, 4-5 incredible pastas, a few tapas sized entrees, multiple exquisite desserts, paired with 6-8 wines of many varieties that seem tailor made for the accompanying food and, finally, some of the best bread I've ever had. It is a lot of food in total so you have to pace yourself. But our 3.5 hour experience was truly sensational. Thanks Vetri Cucina!
We recently celebrated my husbands birthday at Vetri with friends. The experience was just perfect. Fresh, innovative tasting menu had even non-fish eaters enjoying raw scallops. Impeccable service with friendly, well-informed staff. Favorite dishes too numerous to mention-sweet onion crepe, chard gnocchi, branzino, lamb with porrata and chocolate polenta soufflé were stand-outs. Everything delicious. Perfect for a special occasion and worth the expense, especially for the foodie-inclined.
5th year in a row going to Vetri's for my wife's birthday. Most creative and authentic italian food my wife and I have had anywhere coming from two italian families. The menu always has such a variety of pastas, meats, and seafood with artisan bread that is always out of this world. The service is amazing with staff that is very knowledgable and happy to please. Ambiance is also classic with sicilan blown glass that will catch your attention while dining. Me and my wife always say we have our favorite restaurants and then there's Vetri's. An experience I tell many that is necessary.
Truly an incredible dining experience
While I’m glad I went, and thought the food, wine, and service to be outstanding, it did seem a bit pricey for what it was. Glad to have been...once.
Amazing food and even better service!
Last night my wife and I treated my cousin and her husband to dinner at Vetri. The ambience was not old world elegant with wait staff stiffly standing by to dab sauce from my lips. Rather, they were engaged, friendly , knowledgeable and helpful. Kyle knew his wines, at least those that were selected as a pairing for our meal. We felt unhurried and we, including my cousins, commented that it felt as close to some Old World Italian restaurants in which we have dined in La Marche, Campania and Milano where you are made to feel that that table belongs to you.
Now regarding the food. We began with a spritzer and some chef chosen slices of heaven. Delicious. For our Antipasti we chose the onion crepe, carpaccio and the crescenza. The carpaccio was a warm one, and while I have had it that way before, my wife and I prefer this cold. The crepe was superb, I have no way to improve it. The cresenza was delightful. You get to choose two but we sampled... remember we’re family. In addition the chef surprised us with an extra, the tortellini pie, which was nice. It was a bit dry and might have benefitted from a tiny bit more gravy, what you’d call a ragu. But, it was tasty.
For our second course we chose the spaghetti Alla chitarra, a pasta cut by guitar strings (which they did), the almond tortellini and the trofie. I felt tears well up in my eyes as I thought of my mother and grandmother, so long gone. Listen I’m Italian, food is an emotional experience! You got a problem with that? As a bonus, the chef sent to us the Swiss chard gnocchi. I had trepidation, particularly when Kyle prounced it “knockies”. And Swiss chard? It was amazing. Gnocchi need to be light, delicate, almost able to float off the plate. These were. Damn good. Finally three of us had the bronzino. Buttery, and wonderful, a delight. My wife had the lamb and said that it was good. This restaurant is not inexpensive but for special occasions, or those who can afford it more often, why not feel special!
This was our second time spending New Years at Vetri and we hope to do so next year, as well. We have been going to Vetri for years and always have a wonderful and unique experience.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Vetri this year and words can not describe how perfect our meal and service were that night. Every aspect of the evening was amazing, perfect, and the service given was above and beyond what one would expect at a restaurant. We highly recommend this wonderful establishment to any one thinking about dining at Vetri and we will also be returning again very soon.
Vetri was amazing — food and experience! The food was delicious, but be sure to bring a big appetite. I loved that it was prix fixe but that everyone’s meal was different and adapted to your likes and dislikes. We will definitely be dining here again soon!
Very pricey but worth every penny if for a special occasion like an anniversary dinner. Do the wine pairing, it is worth it. I'm not even big on wine but having select items for each dish made the whole thing special.
We loved our date at Verti. The food was absolutely amazing and truly fit to what my partner and I would have ordered. The staff/service - friendly, knew their food for sure.
My favorites - sweet onion crepe, swiss chard gnocchi (soft like a pillow!), the goat with polenta and grapefruit sorbet and the intro spritz drink - all so very tasty! My partner loved everything including the three types of bread we got and appetizers (the reduced balsamic dip was outstanding). I wish I could go back into the kitchen and see how it is all made. We walked away with a selection of petit fours - ate it for breakfast.
We will most definitely be back to try the rest.
