A small venue for dinner, but cosy. Great food. I had the mushroom pappardelle, which was very tasty. I would definitely go again if visiting San Francisco.
Very impressed! Everything about our experience was excellent! Yes
Great experience for my wife bday! Great food! Great service!
Personable, attentive service in a beautiful corner spot with cable cars and views of the Bay Bridge. We went for my wife's birthday and I had messaged to ask them to do what they could to make it special. They gave us a window seat with the spectacular view described above. The hostess and our waitress were awesome. The wine list was good with many lesser known local wineries, including our absolute favorite from the Russian River Valley, Pellegrini (2016 unoaked chardonnay). We ordered a beet salad and the special chickpea soup to start, both were delicious, perfect as starters to get you ready but not fill you up. For dinner, my wife got the wild mushroom pappardelle...she loved it (I loved tasting it), beautiful mushroom flavor in a light cream sauce that didn't overpower the homemade pasta. I ordered the pork chop on white beans with chimichurri sauce. Perfectly cooked...and the compliment of flavors was wonderful. We also ordered a side of roasted Brussels sprouts...now, I LOVE Brussels sprouts...like, crave them. These rank among the best I've ever had. We devoured them. Our waitress then brought a nice piece of their tiramisu with a single candle for dessert. It was light, delicate, and instead of chocolate, it had a wonderful caramel based sauce...oh so good! When we first arrived, there were 4 other tables with guests. By the time we left, it was full. The entire ambiance and experience was perfect for us...unhurried and personal. As we were leaving, we met a couple who wished my wife a happy birthday and asked if it was our first time there. They shared it was probably around their 20th time there. We talked about the dining experience and the hosts, how they create such a welcoming place with delicious food. It was our first time, but certainly won't be our last.
It had been a few years since I last went and it's still just as good as I remembered. Everything was perfectly prepared, tasty, and paced well. Solid wine list as well.
Overall dining experience was excellent. This is a destination I visit often when traveling for work. Great service, consistently good food and convenient location.
Great restaurant! Highly recommend!
Both the gnocchi and the Halibut were excellent and along with the beet salad and the Caesar Salad we had a delightful meal. The service was prompt and the wine list was satisfactory and gave numerous choices. A perfect spot for an authentic northern Italian meal.
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner following seeing The. Last Ship. Our server was courteous & professional - & even surprised us with a delightful tiramisu!
Venticello is one of those special intimate neighborhood places that has stood the test of time and continues to thrive based on authenticity and excellence. The wine list is largely Italian, and our waiter steered us skillfully after asking what sort of wines we like to a great super tuscan which was both reasonable and delicious. I recommend it highly
Great place, super food...I have enjoyed it for years.
Theater dining in between Harry Potter and the Cursed Child parts 1 & 2 at The Curran.
Dinner was exquisite as always, beautiful atmosphere, and outstanding service. A MUST dinner destination in SF!!!
Classic OG northern Italian restaurant on Nob Hill. Not an extensive menu but very serviceable and they have fabulous pizzas with an authentic wood fire pizza oven. Cozy yet open space on the corner of the block.
We came for Valentine's day dinner and it was a fixed menu which was fine with us because they did tell us once we got there they sat us pretty quickly but soon after they informed us that the steak had run out and we had to choose something else which I wasnt too happy about because I was really looking forward to that ribeye the dish that I did get was terrible and my girlfriends food was so bad that we ended up getting pizza after from a pizza place not too far away which is pretty pathetic! We also had to wait about 45 minutes in between our salad and our pasta dish. I definitely will not be back
Romantic and quaint spot with good service and food. Seafood ravioli with limoncello creme sauce was outstanding.
Probably best not to go on Valentines Day as very crowded, limited menu and rushed.
Wonderful ambience, delicious food. First time but will come back.
We live nearby and really enjoy this place. There is something for everyone in our family. Pizza for our son, pasta for our daughter, fresh fish for me and lamb or steak for my husband. Plus tasty salads and desserts.
Diners made to feel very comfortable in a beautiful location. Plates were delivered on time without the rush experience at so many restaurants these days. All three entree’s were superb.
I brought my family to Venticello twenty years ago and have come intermittently over the years. The fun thing is that my niece suggested Venticello stating that she had such fond memories of the restaurant. She has also gone with her cousin and they love the place. We had a fabulous dinner and the staff and ambiance can not be beat!
We went there for our anniversary and had a glorious time. Our pasta dishes were sublime. Our waiter helped us make an excellent wine choice. We would love to go back.
Wonderful find! Amazing staff, and excellent food!
We were celebrating a birthday and were delighted with the food, ambiance, and service. It is always a great visit every time we are in California.
This neighbourhood gem never disappoints. Excellent service as always from Christian.
My husband and I absolutely love this place. It’s very quiet and private. The crowd is mostly local and the food is amazing.
Great place. Excellent food varied menu, fun room, great wine list and outstanding service. Shhhh! Don't let the world know about Venticello. I don't want it to get too crowded!
The food and service were excellent. The noise level was so high, however, that I wouldn't go back on a Saturday night, perhaps later or earlier on a week night.
The Hostess was very nice and accommodating on when I needed to change my reservation for a later time.
Our Waiter (Male) did not come to see if we needed anything after we got our food. We had to ask for bread and butter which took forever to get. I ordered the steak and ask for medium rare, it was more on the cooked side. Again, he never came to check if everything was okay. I wish we had the Lady server. I notice that she would from time to time check on her tables. She probably notice that we needed water and came to ask if we need a refill. After we finished our meal she came over to see if we needed dessert. Again, I hope the tip went to her rather then the Mail waiter we had.
Food wasn’t great. Pizza seemed like a frozen crust. 3 of our group had chicken cacciatore and would not reorder. Waiter was perfunctory. No personality.
Food, service and ambiance were outstanding. The noise level was unusually loud and made table conversation with our guests difficult.
Excellent really enjoyed the experience
Too loud for easy conversation. Some dishes were better than others. It was our first visit. The house made meatballs were excellent as was the pasta dish with mushrooms. Dessert was a fine sorbet from North Beach. It’s our neighborhood so we’ll try again.
We had the best table in the restaurant! Thanks Open Table!
I LOVE this restaurant and Tim and all staff!! Only thing is the NOisE level...extremely hard, so it is hard to keep a conversation going.
SUGGESTiON: Put in some sturdy wall to wall carpets that will make the rooms less loud.
Excellent service and the food was superb (menu may seem limited but everything was done well - especially the mushroom ragu)
I have never had a bad meal at Venticello. The food is authentic and the atmosphere is lovely.
Passing by I took notice of the restaurant, read up on it and made a booking. I could not have made a better choice. Venticello’s team is amazingly friendly, attentive and know their food. Casey was a great host. All dishes tasted were of outstanding quality and a delight to my taste buds. If there is a dish not to miss out it is their Gnocchi. They literally melt on your tongue and I rate them among the top three servings of this dish I ever had! Absolutely delicious!
Last but not least Venticello have a good choice of wine and all at fair prices! For me a must come back treat!
Best service ever
Homemade pasta was just what we were looking for! Definitely a neighborhood gem and not pretentious whatsoever.
Absolutely fantastic service and the food was top notch. Definitely recommend to anyone in the Bay Area to check out. It really was an unforgettable meal!! The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was incredible. They really do a wonderful job!!
