The location of this restaurant on top of an ocean cliff is just spectacular. We watched hundreds of pelicans nesting, fishing, soaring right in front of us. There is also a deck outside directly above the water lined with chairs. We would return to this place even if the food were lousy, which it isn't. The service was very nice; they gave us a large, delicious dessert to split because it was our anniversary.
We will be back soon and be sure to stay late enough to see the sunset this time.

Our server Michael was excellent! He was very thorough on explaining all of the specials and describing any other questions we had about the menu. He gave us lots of time to enjoy the whole Ventana Grill experience. We relaxed and enjoyed a cocktail special (Kentucky Mule, yum) that on to excellent appetizers of soup and calamari. The main course of scallops and shrimp with creamed spinach and bacon was packed full of flavor.

We were seated immediately and a waitperson came promptly. This is a very nice place for a Sunday brunch with a great view. Service was outstanding. Coffee, juice, water and champagne were constantly filled and dishes that we were done with were quickly removed. The omelet had excellent ingredients and well prepared. The bacon, roast beef, and bagel and cream cheese were good. I hate to peel shrimp but they were good. None of the pre-prepared hot dishes appealed to me and I did not like the dessert selection. What I ate was good, the champagne was drinkable and I had enough to eat. The price was high for the limited selection.
Perfect booth overlooking the ocean. Plenty of food refilled quickly and efficiently. I’ve now officially lost my Ventana Sunday Brunch partner as she’s moved away! I hope to find another some day soon.
This is a top line restaurant with a great menu and moderate prices. The hlghlight was our waitress but if I tell her name she may get too busy to wait on ME! Oh well, its Makerena. All are good, but Makerena is the BEST!
One of the nicest waitresses (maca) I’ve ever had. I asked for a window table, so the view was fantastic. We really enjoyed our lunch there and will be back soon!

for our friends who were visiting from Chicago. The service was very good; we were able to relax and not
feel rushed, thanks to Jeremy, our server. In fact, we stayed longer than we intended. Our dinners were generous and delicious.
Loved this place! Although the sun was not out when we were there, this would be a perfect spot to catch the sunset while having great food and cocktails. My husband who doesn’t loved ceviche thought theirs was amazing and the filet was also delish coming from a midwestern ☺️ Also, get the mud pie!
Bright, cheerful front house staff from reception to table. Hannah was stellar as our waitress. The food is excellent with an Hispanic "take" on seafood. Go light on the appetizers, because entrees are large. Wine list needs a bit of help. Try corkage for a better selection.
We had lunch on 7/2 and were once again not disappointed. Nice lunch with friends. Food and service were great.

Great place for sunset meal in Pismo beach. We were very happy with the food and service.
I’ve been to Ventana a number of times and have always had a great experience. However, this time was rather disappointing to say the least. My significant other and I were here to celebrate a 5 year anniversary. She ordered the shrimp and scallops entree and I ordered the chimichurri flank steak. My meal tasted great, but her scallops were grossly undercooked (a problem I've seen a few others complain about as well). We had to wait ten minutes before the waiter returned to check up on us and take her dish away to be replaced. By that point I was more or less done with my meal. When they brought out the new dish it only contained the scallops and not the shrimp. So, essentially, we each had to eat our entree separately, they skimped her on the food, and the restaurants solution was to waive the dessert fee. It’s one thing to bring out the wrong drink, but undercooked seafood at a restaurant of Ventana’s caliber and cost is simply unacceptable, and their solution, in my opinion, was not adequate. We’ve both worked in the service industry and are well aware that mistakes happen, so we aren’t usually picky, but a place like Ventana must be held to a high standard, and they certainly didn’t live up to that standard this time around. Unfortunate.

Fabulous view. Food is not as good as on previous visits – seems like they’re getting a little complacent. But overall an enjoyable evening.

Ventana is one of our favorite places for a special dinner. Service is great. Food is tasty and view is amazing. You may dress casual or formal works for all.

I finally came back to Ventana--with a reservation in hand this time. Here is my update.
Views--5 stars! Excellent ocean and coastline vistas. Food-- 4 Stars--and to their credit this in not your run of the mill Americanized Mexican food. Fresh tortillas made on site. Great salsa. I had the Halibut Fish and Chips. I am a sucker for deep fried halibut. It's not really Mexi, but --it was deep fried halibut! What could I do??? and it came with yummy good fries on that plate (I am a fool for french fries, too). My partner had the Ahi salad and she loved it. So better than decent food. Service --3 stars. (Can somebody explain to me why, if you pause for a minute on eating, someone shows up and tries to take your plate?) Ambiance--nice dining room -- 4 stars there. Excellent margaritas -- really the best in the county. The biggest downside of this visit was the booth-- there was definitely something wrong with --like the springs were shot. When I sat down i sunk into it so I felt like a kid sitting at the adult table. I wanted to ask for a booster seat or a phone book; the table was up around my shoulders! So I moved to the other side of the table next to my dinner partner with our backs to the view windows. The dining room was busy and full so we just stayed there. The whole thing came to around $80 (three margaritas).
So four stars, but I still have a bad taste from my earlier visit and review. But I guess I can forgive and forget....
Excellent food and drinks. Our server did a good job other than he told us the wrong type of potatoes came with one meal and he was slow getting us some tortillas and salsa. My friend went on and on about the pork chops saying they were the best he’d ever had. My filet mignon was excellent as well. Our wives had Sea Bass and were very pleased.

The Mahi Mahi on spinach and mash potato with carrots was absolutely the best you will find in any restaurant, every aspect of this dish was expertly executed and a generous portion to boot. Great job chefs!
We were here for my husband’s birthday dinner and wow it was amazing! I had the calamari salad it was incredible so fresh and so much calamari on a bed of fresh greens! He had the 16 oz ribeye marinated in agave and said it was the best rib eye he’d ever eaten! Our waitress was adorable and so helpful and the fresh tortillas they make on the spot are amazing! The view is beautiful and the drinks are great too! Well worth the trip and not that expensive.

ANNIVERSARY IN AUGUST DINNER AT THIS LOCATION. FOOD WAS SO DELICIOUS AND OF COURSE THE VIEW IS MAGNIFICENT.
First, we had an amazing view by, the window, of the lovely rocky shore and ocean. Our server was wonderful, and the food was fresh and delicious, all of it. We three shared three dishes. Great Daou wine and interesting, tasty desserts. All while enjoying the exquisite view. Did I mention the view? And everyting we ate was very very good.

My wife and I dined on Father’s Day, which happened to also be our 46th Anniversary. We had a wonderful window booth and watched the sunset as we dined.
We started with a bottle of Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc. Very tasty New Zealand wine. We shared a Cup of Chowder and Sopes appetizers. These were followed by the Wedge Salad (we split).
We intended to have either the salmon or halibut fish and chips entrees, but the earlier fare was so filling we only had room for the strawberry wrap dessert.
The food, service and ambience were exceptional. We will be back.
Best restaurant in the area! Server was very attentive and professional. View is priceless. Free tortillas are addictive. Mahi-mahi was perfect. Filet was excellent. Already booked for August return trip. This was our 4th or 5th time here in the past few years and it has never disappointed.
The service was excellent. The clam chowder was really good but the salmon tacos which were the special weren't great. The fish and chips was good. The ambiance was really nice, seating by the window with an ocean view. It can get really loud in the restaurant.
Ventana Grill has as good of a view of the Pacific as any place I have ever been to. The food is very good. Had the Carne Asada Nachos and the Fish and Chips. My wife had the veggie Enchilada and loved it. We will be back.
