Nice decor but place felt more like a bar even if the decor was going for lounge.
I should have sent my meal back. This is the first time I have not loved my meal at this restaurant. The oven baked crab sandwich was room temp on top but refrigerator temp inside and the cheese was totally solid. There was no lemon or sauce for garnish. The french fries also appeared to be machine cut and reminded me of something I would get in the grocery freezer section, except I would heat those above room temp. I normally like this place, but this was a sad meal.
It was so nice to dine inside. We loved everything we ordered. The roasted pork was our favorite. The service was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
interesting menu. small plates with lots of variety. great service! loved the cocktails!
One of my favorite restaurants. Great deals for Happy Hour.
The noise level was high and brassy so it was hard to have a conversation. I noticed it over the phone when I called and very noticeable we entered the restaurant. The food was tasty, but we were disappointed with the small portion of some dishes. The duck confit with lettuce leaves only had 3 lettuce leaves (4 of us), little duck, and the tasty flavor was due to the sauce. The piece of fish in the fish tacos was small and unnoticeable in the flavor profile. The service and staff were great but we didn't feel we got value for our dollar. We won't recommend it as a go to place.
Service and food are always consistently great! One of our favorite places to dine.
Took my son here for his 17th birthday and he just loved it!! Always wonderful food and the staff here is amazing. Really the best and why I just love coming here. You HAVE to get the chicken wings!!
Every time we go to Vanessa's we ask ourselves why it took so long for us to return. The small plates are exceptional, including their French onion soup and their 5-Spice Quail. The small plates are an exceptional value. Vanessa's has creative cocktails to accompany its eclectic menu.
If you are looking for a thoroughly enjoyable evening, you cannot go wrong with Vanessa's.
Definitely not a place for seniors. So so noisy. Although the food was good don’t go there on a weekend if you are a senior.
Noisy and below average food.
Vanessa’s never disappoints! Service is always great, food is delicious!
No, I don’t recommend. Look out for better alternatives
Valentines Day weeknd dinner
Very nice Happy Hour on their Tapas Tuesdays!
The food was good, not great. Downstairs is noisy and loud, though upstairs was quieter. The service providers were very nice
Acoustics very bad. Can’t hear each other talk. But food is great.
We keep coming back to Vanessa's Bistro. The food and beverages are always great. The ambience is conducive to pleasant socializing. I will be back.
Pad Thai was awful- noodle dish just okay- food way below average for downtown dining
Lovely, attentive waitress, attended to our every need.
Food was tasty and yet were told quite earlythat the kitchen was closing.
Our first visit here on a busy Saturday night, the staff were very welcoming to our group of 5 for dinner after a movie. Because they couldn't seat us right at the time of our reservation they graciously offered our first round of drinks on the house! We shared several of the appetizers, a couple of mains and 2 desserts all of which were delicious. For sure will go here again!
The service and drinks were amazing. I felt the food was mediocre. Very salty and no flavor. We got the seared ahi tuna and it was hard like a potato chip terrible .
Great! I enjoyed my meal and am looking forward to going back.
Food was generic, unimpressive. Good service, but a bar type atmosphere. Three diners, and all had same opinion of the food, not very good.
Items to order: Cumin Shrimp, Garlic Noodles with Chicken, Honey Prawns, and Wok fried eggplant.
We were upstairs, which we were thankful for, because it was so noisy downstairs that we would have had to leave.
The Salt & Pepper Fried Prawns, Spicy Lime Dipping Sauce and the Crispy Ginger Tofu w/ Onions, Ginger & Jalapeños were a bit hit, and we ordered seconds of each. The filet mignon with prawns main course was also excellent.
The Spicy Vietnamese Green Papaya Salad W/ Poached Prawns, Roasted Peanuts, Fried Shallots, was uninteresting, and the Thinly Sliced Filet Mignon Carpaccio, Fried Shallots, Asian Herbs, Roasted Peanuts was tasty but the meat was unevenly cooked.
We all agreed that we would come back again and would order some different dishes next time.
Loved it here! The food was so good. We came for NYE but would come back for everyday dining and date night. Really impressed.
The tuna soba salad is small and the tuna was dry. Ban me sandwich was good but sweet potato fries were thick and not cooked completely. The classic vermicelli salad was just ok. Service was mixed and overall left hungry with a sizable bill for lunch. Would not recommend- not clear how the rating is so high.
Best food and drinks. Love it regular place for me and wife.
This is my recommendation for first timers.
Start out with Vanessa Margarita - 2 of these and your making babies.
Appetizer have the tuna / salmon poke and the spring rolls.
Entree clay pot rice with chicken shrimp and veggies. Also the green beans with tofu.
Have another margarita if you want twins.
Dessert walk over to Karas Cup Cakes on North Main a couple of blocks away. Hope you have fun.
We were seated upstairs as the main floor was full and the server promptly forgot about us. We had to go retrieve her to get things started after seeing no one for 15 minutes. At the end of the meal no offer of coffee or a dessert menu. Just the check and no more. Felt like they wanted us to leave. We usually have good service here so hopefully this was an anomaly. The food was as great as ever.
Been here many times and will return many more times, Great food and cocktails and the staff are so friendly
We always enjoy our visit at Vanessa's. Food is good, waitstaff is friendly and service is spot on.
If you are reading this and haven't had a meal at Vanessa's, do it!
Loved it!! Will return soon!
I have eaten at Vanessa’s in Walnut Creek several times and the food is excellent. I highly recommend the filet mignon and chicken with garlic noodles. Also, the potstickers to begin. The noise level is very high and it is hard to talk, however, the service is excellent. I will be returning, for sure.
One of our favorite places! The service is always great, food is consistently delicious, and they make a great dirty martini.
Love the food. Generous portions to split. Great place to have dinner before theater.
Food as good, service was good. The restaurant was much too loud to allow conversation.
Food was wonderful and a value on Tuesdays as their a Tapas which represent their entrees pretty well, are half price. We each ordered 2 tapas, (4 people) and our table had so much food, all delicious!
The food was good however, the portions were small. They also forgot to check in our reservation after we told them we had one.
Would we go back? Probably not.
We ordered 4 tapas for dinner and had wine and martinis. The food was absolutely delicious! ! The wine paired well with the food and was well-priced. The martinis were perfect. The service was amazing. We will definitely come back.
