Since it opened in late 2013, Vallone's has quickly become one of Houston's top lunch, dinner, and happy hour destinations.
Tony Vallone's Americana-inspired menu features some of his favorite dishes from the American culinary tradition, from French Onion Soup and the "Tex" — two cheese enchiladas served with a center-cut filet — to Baked Alaska and housemade Cotton Candy (even the vanilla wafers for his banana pudding are baked in-house).
Of course, Tony's signature pastas and the 55-day-aged steaks are also stars of the show in his cozy, fireplace-lit dining room.

Vallone's Ratings and Reviews
The overall experience was great but the dining room was way too bright to be as romantic as it could have been. The waiter brought the wrong side dish, which was twice as expensive as the one I ordered. I brought it to his attention but he did not adjust the the price on my bill. By bill was $300 so the $12 was not a deal breaker but right is right.
East coast oysters as a starter $15 for 6 is a very fair price. Served with a nice mignonette and cocktail sauce. Made at the table Caesar Salad was outstanding. Request for extra Parmesan was hand grated over the salad. Nice! Steaks are dry aged and very flavor-able.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. The service was exceptional with great food and wine. The wine selection was good with a range of prices to select the perfect bottle of wine.
The picture below is of Baked Alaska and it was superb!
My wife's view is that this restaurant was easily one of the finest she has experienced. She expresses her opinion and I repeat it here. Her entre, Steak Diane, was prepared table side. In her view, the beef and the sides were perfect.
My entre was halibut topped with seafood. The side dish was very good but the entre was disappointing.
Bananas Foster, again prepared table side was quite good.
Overall, my recommendation for others is without doubt the service. From the Mater D to the valet, the staff was attentive and personable.
Always one of our favorite places to go. Great wine options, great menu (including lots of delicious sides!). Very generous portions (just remember to pick up any 'leftovers' at the entrance - they've forgotten to give me mine a couple of times), so always leftovers. We usually dine at the bar just to enjoy the atmosphere. They will usually recommend great cocktails and staff is always friendly. We always enjoy coming here.
If you're in that part of town it's a great option. The chicken fried quail appetizer is fabulous. This is part of Tiny Vallone's empire so I know it will always have great good and service. The manager is a constant presence which is a good thing. Just a nice meal with a friendly staff.
The food, service and atmosphere is great! Good wine selection and comfortable for conversations. I would highly recommended this resturant. We were celebrating the birth of our grand daughter with our son in law and his close friends. Memorial Herman Hospital is next door and very convenient to the restaurant.
We came in and we're seated immediately. The server was amazing as well as the food! 👌 I am coming back to visit this restaurant again! I love the royal blue placemats and the texture. Everything was nicely put together especially the art on the walls! I came for Houston restaurant week and now you've got me wanting to come back to try other meals on the menu. The sourdough bread was delicious, so I am excited for a date night at THIS restaurant. I truly enjoyed every or of my meal.
Very disappointing given its relationship to Tony's. The gumbo was good but I ordered the filet. It came with enchiladas smothered in cheese. It didn't suit the filet. The desserts were very mediocre. The cake was stale. To top it off, there were fruit flies around and in the food. The manager was nice. He gave us an additional dessert and coffee on the house. Certainly not worth the expense. I really don't think I'll be back.
We dined at Vallone's for Houston Restaurant Week (though we've been several times before), and the HRW menu was outstanding. The filet was PERFECTLY--I cannot overstate that enough--cooked. Both of us ordered the filet for our second course and BOTH were outstanding (at other places usually someone gets a great one and the other slightly less so, but not this time). Overall a really great meal. I can't wait to go back, and we'll certainly visit for HRW 2018!!!!
Went for HRW. Good menu with good selection but nothing felt exceptional. They forgot that we ordered a bottle of wine. Half an hour later after the appetizers came out I asked about the wine. No apology no comp, they acted like nothing happened. Wife complained that women's bathroom was dirty with overflowing trashcan. Overall, there are better places around. Not coming back.
Disinterested service---asked for bread several times and didn't receive, had to ask several times for refill on tea, etc--food variable trout from restaurant week menu underseasoned though soup of the day--a corn chowder--was exquisite. Overall disappointed.
Took my son here for lunch during Restaurant Weeks because we'd never been. The menu was expansive. He had the flounder and I had the hanger steak. They were both excellent as was the Salted Caramel Cake for dessert. Service was amazing too. HIGHLY recommend.
Restaurants participating in HRW really shouldn't phone in the quality of their food. 1st course we both had salads, nothing really to boast or complain about except for the prosciutto that was on my wife's salad that we asked there not to be. Main course is where they shined. My filet mignon was very good and really the only redeeming value of the trip. Wife's fish was good but nothing to brag about. Third course desserts tasted like they were right out of a box. Nothing exciting. Honestly, the service was adequate but I've been to steak houses that were far beyond that level of service and to spend $45 per person plus cocktails, shared side and gratuity left a bad taste for the quality of the meal. Judging by the quality of the steak, maybe their alacarte offerings are of a great quality but why bother attracting new customers to your restaurant during HRW if you're just going to offer disappointing service and bland starters and desserts? I won't bother coming back.
First time at Vallone's. Service was nonattentive, but courteous and friendly when around. Water glass needed filling several times. Steak was really good. Cooked exactly the way I ordered. After dining with Tony Vallone since the '70's, I was disappointed. Guess I expected more.
The food was creative and very good. My biggest disappointment was the service. It was 1 and 1/2 hours from the time we arrived until the first course was delivered. Then the second course followed quickly. It would have been much better to have the courses better spaced.
