I have no idea how this restaurant is, because they weren't open when we arrived! WHY are they accepting reservations if they are CLOSED? It's not that hard to shut off your OT reservations until you reopen. I was coming down to spend some $$ in the Gaslamp but they couldn't be bothered to shut off OT...smh...
I made a reservation on Open Table as I know some restaurants are still seating guests despite the mandate. I wanted to come support the restaurant and made the reservation only to get there and they were closed. They should have updated their status on Open Table as other restaurants did. I will never go back.
Little pricey for the food offered, good food though
very fast service and friendly! good foods!
great place and great food! Great service and right price!!! I highly recommend and we are going back for sure!
The food was absolutely amazing. The staff was even better. Highly recommend this place.
excellent table service with mediocre food
Terrible service. Food was cold. Drinks came out wrong. Just terrible
Great food, good prices for the heart of Gaslamp, excellent service, and delicious drinks! Great place for a fun dinner that can accommodate big groups!
A great place for lunch with a colleague! Patient service, and both the Brussels sprouts and French onion soup were delicious.
went for SDRW 2020, menu online did not match at UK., when I asked waiter about discrepancy he did not seem to care. I had to ask again about changes due to the reason I chose UK was menu. Manager came out asked me to actually "prove" where I saw "menu" showed proof from SDRW 2020, she said we could have an appetizer free (after I asked) because orig menu had that option. Food was a 5.5 out of 10. Waiter did not attend to us, ignored us, we had to get his attention for service. we left unhappy, waiter received a 15.5% tip.
Awesome bottomless option. The cornbread Benedict is a must.
Excellent all around!................................
Met up with our Dallas Cowboy fan club for the first time.
Christmas Day so understandably a little slow but we waited for 20+ minutes to be acknowledged by anyone. Hostess made it seem and inconvenience to seat us despite having reservations. Once our waitress acknowledged us service was good. Food was fine.
We will definitely be back. Food was outstanding and really great service!
The waitress was not very attentive. Three people had bottomless mimosas, and in order to get a refill, they had to flag the waitress down.
Food was delivered to our table quickly. Waitress was excellent and provided awesome service.
Lousy, lousy service. So frustrating when you are paying this much for a meal. Took 20 minutes to get a beer, 30 for our appetizer. Waiting and waiting for a server. Blerg.
Great food and great outdoor seating for coworkers to meet and hangout
Excellent!
This was our first time at Union Kitchen & Tap AND it won’t be our last! Our server, Olivia, was perky + friendly, and quite attentive. She was also quite knowledgeable about all of the items on the menu. The food was delicious and it also looked pretty. Steak + eggs were yummy - steak was cooked to perfection. We splurged + had dessert - the Peanut Butter Pie. It was “out of this world”! Can’t wait to go back + try some other things on their menu.
Nice atmosphere for a sports bar, a lot going on, the food was very salty but was quite nice
Good food, good service.
Restaurant Week always encourages us to go out and try a new restaurant or two; this year we decided to try Union Kitchen & Tap. It was a Saturday night and Twitchcon must have just gotten done for the day so it was fairly busy. We had made a reservation and were seated promptly. I will state up front that most of our experience was very good to great. The one issue we had was with our server. I would describe his service as indifferent - the look he gave me when I asked for Restaurant Week menus, the response he gave to my son’s request to put on the Padres game, and the way he made my wife feel when she asked for a to-go box for the small amount of leftovers she had. Pro tip: instead of actually saying out loud, “For that???” to her request, next time try, “I’m glad you really liked it.” But now the positives, of which there were many: the food was excellent and, for the most part, the portions were generous. The atmosphere of the place was also quite good. And finally I’d like to single out the general manager for the way he handled our issue with the server. He was active and around throughout the night. When he came by to grab an empty bottle off our table and ask how everything was, I asked if he was a manager. He was the new general manager so I explained our issue. I framed it in terms of, “Maybe he’s just having a bad night, but he needs to know.” He was respectful, apologetic, genuinely interested in our feedback and made sure we were well taken care of for the rest of the evening. My wife and I were very impressed with how he handled the situation. Because of the great food and great management, we will go back again.
I enjoyed my business lunch at Union Kitchen & Tap. Great place for lunch while working or attending events at the convention center. Burgers, fries...bar food done right!
Service was great Food was fine but probably a bit overpriced.
This is the place I have been looking for. We went in on Thursday evening to check the place out because we learned it was where COWBOYS fan gathered. The food is great with lots of Variety. The vibe is good, the place is lively with a great location. True enough, we returned on Sunday, enjoyed an Awesome breakfast, met lots of cool people, and Enjoyed a Team victory. Returning this Sunday to cheer the BOYS to victory! Our new Spot! We have invited friends to join us and sure to make many as we frequent this fine establishment.
Great place to eat in gas lamp district.
It was a little noisy for a business lunch, excellent service and good food
Food was very good. Service is slow, but the food is worth the wait.
Don’t know why, but some of the waitstaff does not respond at all when I said “thanks” or “thank you” when our dishes were cleared or when things were brought to me. Seemed a bit rude.
Had a excellent dinner on Saturday night. My husband and I love sitting outside.
The restaurant was very accommodating to our large group of seven adults, two small kids, and a baby. It was fairly noisy but this is understandable, given it was Saturday night. The appetizers and watermelon salad were great, as was the mushroom flatbread. People raved about the wings.
Union Kitchen & Tap is in a very convenient location and the menu looked great. I was disappointed in the food. The salmon was a very small portion for what you paid. The other dishes were just ‘ok’. The service was average. I wouldn’t go back.
The beers and service were all good. The salad was generous. The Brussels sprouts were not crispy but that was the only disappointing item. The shrimp and grits were the best I’ve ever had. They were out of cornbread so that was a bummer.
We had several large groups and it was very organized and the service was great, they didn't even give us a problem with separate checks! Well done!
Great location, food and ambiance. Perfect spot for catching up with friends.
My family is in town to visit my brother and heard great things about Union Kitchen! My husband loved the Jambalaya and I was a huge fan of the chicken pesto flatbread. Highly recommend the big fat cookie for dessert!
The food was great and the server was very attentive.
