Great food and service with a nice view. We had the lobster mac and the short ribs - would definitely recommend both.
Met some friends at the Union before a concert at 1st. Ave. Food was great and service is good. I recommend it for a meetup before a show or any other time.
Lunch menu not available until 3 PM. We were doing lunch before our Event. What a surprise. This is not indicated on their website. However the Breakfast items were very good.
Called and canceled our reservations 2 weeks after they were made due a a private party
Hi Dustin, I wanted to personally reach out and apologize for canceling your reservation. Please know we take comments like yours to heart and will be sharing this with our management team and chef. I’m truly sorry you were disappointed! Will you please email me at your earliest convenience so I can personally help resolve the issue for you? Thank you, Kylie
Our server, Marie, was amazing! She was attentive and engaged with us about some of her favorites and really helped us pick our meal for the night. She made the experience that much better. The food was great with a mix of apps and shared dinners, we enjoyed every last bite!
Rowdy crowd food and service ok
Our server didn’t interact with us much. But the way the restaurant was set up I could see him at all times. It wasn’t like he was busy as we were his only table. But he spent more time chatting with his coworkers than checking to make sure we were ok.
The food was really good and the hostess warned us that the place would get lively due to an event they had going on. I appreciated the warning and didn’t mind the extra noise.
The burger order was mixed up—asked for gluten free bun and no cheese. Got cheese and no bun. The chicken strips were a bit dry. But the shrimp stir fry was outstanding. The other dishes were tasty. The service and experience were very good. We would come back.
Last time we will go to Union. We first went years ago when they first opened. Amazing drinks and nice food and it has never lived up to its original quality. Favorite drinks are off the menu and the seating this time around was a similar experience to sitting in our unfinished basement.
We primarily ordered fried food because we were in a hurry, which was fine. Biggest issue is that the space is dreary, cold, and run down looking. There is no reason why this space can’t be updated to be warmer looking and literally... warmer (the revolving door lets a ton of cold air in and there’s nothing to block it.
Due to traffic and snow we were late but they accommodated us at the bar. Very noisy due to holiday crowd. Food was great.
Great happy hour menu and prices.
Food was over cooked and expensive It doesn’t really have the atmosphere you would expect
Food was outstanding. Staff was very nice! Never had to ask for refills on the drinks!
Our reservation was at 6pm & we were seated promptly. Our server was very good , one drawback was they were out of 2 different beers that we ordered.
The noise level was high, but there were birthday celebrations & people were having fun.
Everyone on in our group of four enjoyed their meal----one comment was everything tasted fresh.
We showed up at our reserved time, but requested one of the few shorter tables as our 9 year old Is in a wheelchair and the very tall tables throughout most of the restraunt would be well over his head. We fully understood that this would likely take a little extra time and that's perfectly ok. The manager/hostess apologized several times for the wait, and the cook comped our appetizer.. Honestly guys, that was completely unnecessary, but very much appreciated! I made up for the difference in my tip, you guys owed us Nothing.. Food and service were PHENOMENAL, every employee was professional and courteous, we will definitely be back in the future!
Poor slow service. Were almost late to a show. And the bartenders were standing around not making any drinks. So we had to leave in order to make our show. Very disappointed
Asked for no pickles on our burger and we got pickles. Asked for no jalapeños on nachos and got them. Didn’t refill waters or drinks. Asked for napkins and didn’t get them until the food and plates were CLEARED off the table! Lights above us didn’t work so could see the menu and no toilet paper in 3 of the stalls in the ladies bathroom. Nuf said?
The manager Lauren was awesome though and took care of us and our bill. So all is right in the world!
We had terrible service. Food was okay - some of our order was good and some was kind of bad - overall atmosphere and value for food and drinks was good - but based on this experience, I would not return.
Great food, service and can't beat the downtown Mpls vibe!!
Great food, great drinks, great service. Loved the ambiance. We will return!
Too loud for visiting but staff let us sit in the booths which helped tremendously. Decent plant based menu which is challenging to find at times.
Fun place with good food and service
Loved our survey and the host at the front that greeted us was wonderful. The food was good, we just had appetizers and drinks prior to a show. They got us out with plenty of time to spare and we enjoyed our time there. We will definitely go again.
Friendly service. Simon, our waiter, was helpful with selections and very friendly
Diner-level food with no originality but consistently as-ordered! Super fast. Server was very attentive and everything arrived as ordered and quickly. Server was not interested or skilled in describing any of the food or providing detailed recommendations. Quick and efficient before a show!
We had reservations and were seated immediately, but it took almost 10 minutes before our server approached our table, and we were almost the only ones there at that time. After that, she was attentive. I ordered the Smothered Steak Sandwich - it was very bland. I didn't care for it at all. My husband ordered the Cajun pasta with shrimp, and that was very good, but you don't get a salad or breadstick even with the pasta.
The server was great, the food was pretty good, a little spendy. And the restaurant was extremely crowded and loud. Unfortunately we picked to go there on the night that the "president" had a rally in Minneapolis.
The rooftop patio is hard to beat! Great food and service!
We arrived a little before our 4:45 reservation and needed to head to our play by 6:10. At 6:00 we still did not have our food. We were very, very unhappy. A manager finally connected with us and hats off to the manager - she made all the difference. She was very apologetic, quickly brought us a few appetizers and did everything she could to make amends. She even called us while we were at play and invited us back for a cocktail. We did go back after the play for a cocktail. If it wasn't for her, my review would be all 1's. She went above and beyond and because of her efforts I would give Union another try. Mistakes will happen and it is how an organization recovers from them that makes a difference.
Extremely poor and grumpy inattentive service. Food cold and mediocre. No follow up after food delivered. Uncomfortable high top table after being seated at a dirty table. Poor acoustics - very loud for conversation. Do not recommend.
Overall we were pleased. Only two criticisms. It was overpriced. And, the receptionist tried to seat us in a crowded area and initially resisted seating us in a less crowded area saying the other tables were “reserved” (we had reservations as well). Ultimately she relented. The tables around us remained empty during our hour long meal.
Our reservation was “lost”. The host basically told us we should find a different place to eat. A bartender saw this and offered us seats at the bar. I purchased the avocado shrimp toast which must have been bad because I was sick later. I had a steak sandwich and onion rings as well. Those were very good. The bartender was good as well
Our server was top notch. I did a fair amount of resesrch to choose Union and decided to ignore others feedback about missed reservations. Well, guess what...? Although we were seated without resistance, they had no record of our reservation dispite getting both a confirmation via email AND and live person from Union itself. My best advice is to have a backup plan just in case...
The food was so delicious! We especially loved the truffle fries and the vodka martinis were delightful! Our server was amazing and everyone so kind.
It was very loud on the rooftop. We did do a reservation for the trio drop and the hostess downstairs said we could go up an check ourselves but seated us at a table in the restaurant. Went upstairs and they had a couple tables open and was able to seat us. For it being an open space on a rooftop patio it was very loud and hard to communicate with each other and the waitress. I would go again as the food was good and if you can get a high top on the patio it would have a better view and hopefully not be as loud.
Excellent food, had a party of 5 who all had various items from the menu, all loved it. Disappointed that my reservation wasn’t processed correctly, as you have no control over your reservation being on the ground floor or the rooftop. Excellent and prompt service. A little pricy for my taste, $140 for 5 entrees, but I look forward to returning.
The Staff knew what they were talking about. We wanted to sit on the paio, but it was being used for a private event. But sitting inside was OK and the flavors in the drinks and the food more than made up for out lack of outdoor time.
It was okay. We had a reservation but it took forever for someone to come to the hostess stand. Table was right next to a waitress station. Took forever for the waitress to come. Took forever for drinks. Food was fine, but nothing special. I wouldn’t go again.
Scrambled eggs and hashbrowns with a couple of drinks for brunch should not cost $50 per person (including tax and tip).
