Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support!
Uchiko, translated as "child of Uchi" from Japanese, is the next restaurant venture for renowned executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole. Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole’s highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. Uchiko will feature a new menu with Uchi’s same style of innovative, fresh cuisine, a main dining room that accepts reservations throughout the evening and an eat-in bar/café area.

Food is always good and consistent. We were seated within 2 minutes of our reservation time. Wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive. We will be back.
Portions have become much smaller. That was disappointing.
Uchiko never disappoints, even on a busy night. Loved it and will be back
Must try sushi restaurant in Austin. The restaurant has a large selection/range of sushi for everyone. From the service to the food it was a very memorable experience. Our waiter was absolutely amazing his name is Brandon if your able to request someone he definitely went above and beyond to make sure our experience was amazing. And it was. Also for a sushi restaurant in Austin the price was very reasonable. We were able to splurge without breaking the bank.
We were excited to try Uchiko, but it fell flat. The service was the highlight...attentive without hovering. We ordered three rolls, the Brussels sprouts (the best dish), the gyotoro beef, and several drinks. Most dishes were bland. The noise was fine, though tables were a bit close together. We ended up going to Whataburger afterward since neither of us were satisfied. For the money, I would go elsewhere.
Perfect date night restaurant! Quiet enough to talk, best sushi and sashimi in town, absolutely amazing service, everything you want for a date!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Uchiko. Brittany’s service was excellent. She took time to help us understand the menu and her timing of the delivery of the components of our dinner was perfect. All of the food was very good, but Brittany saved the best entree for the finale... take nabe. We included the wagyu short-rib with our take nabe, and the dish was superb! A close second was the 72 Hour Wagyu short rib nigiri, followed by Brittany’s suggestion of the P-38 roll.
Thank you Uchiko, and Brittany.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Service was also excellent and I really appreciated my server’s efficiency and suggestions. You will not find these delicious and inventive dishes at other sushi places! Also want to express my appreciation to the reservations staff for accommodating me when I called to let them know I’d be a bit late.
Every single thing about our dining experience was absolutely perfect. We’re so glad we chose Uchiko for our son’s birthday celebration!
Birthday dinner was excellent! Service, food, everything was great as always!
Lela, our server took us through an amazing dinner! Best sushi we have ever had . . . and we have had decades of sushi!
Always a wonderful time, delicious food and great bday celebrations!!
Wonderful as always
Been going to Uchiko for years, but the past couple times we’ve been the service has been achingly slow. I’m all for a leisurely meal, but it got kind of ridiculous. Food is great, but the size of the pieces seem to be getting smaller. Might take a break and try something new for a bit.
As always the food was tremendous as was the service. Our only issue is the noise level. You cannot hear yourself think let alone hear someone across from you. Next time we will try and get a quieter area if that is possible.
We had such an amazing server that night! She made our experience amazing. Additionally- they accommodated us late as our Lyft driver got lost! There were a few things that made the experience less that a 5 star.
1. The noise level is so high, we could hardly hear each other speak
2. We preferred the food a Uchi to Uchiko. The food at Uchi amazing. Uchiko had wonderful food but without the WOW factor. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF DESSERT!!
Overall- great experience but we still would rather dine at Uchi
Unbelievable flavor combinations, the freshest fish possible, it’s an incredible dining experience.
Uchiko’s selection of sushi is amazing. Each dish is beautifully prepared and paced in the perfect way.
Perfect place for Sake Social with Friends! Wonderful service and wonderful food, as always.
Food was amazing, incredible, the best I've had in a LONG time. Service not so much, we got there for our reservation and our table wasn't ready, it took them like 15 min to seat us, then like 20 to even come to the table to take our drinks order. Food took a long time to get to the table, but once it was there, you kinda forget about everything else. It was more than amazing!
Our server Aaron was amazing! From helping us decide on what to order to writing down favorite spots to eat around Austin, he was just a delight to talk to. Thanks Aaron and the crew for a wonderful meal. Food was amazing - especially the cool plates! Definitely coming back!
Great! Loved it
One of the most delightful dining experiences in Austin.
Excellent, as always.
I love Uchi so was dying to try out Uchiko, and it did not disappoint. It’s a little busier and this louder than Uchi but you get the same amazing service, unbelievable sushi and delicious appetizers and desserts. A must for locals and visitors alike!
We had the chef sampler, one of the most amazing arrays of Japanese food I have ever experienced.
Wonderful sushi, and our waiter gifted us two extra pieces off the daily menu that were incredible. We enjoyed everything we tried! Will be back again soon.
Wonderful food and very friendly waitstaff. Two noisy large groups nearby contributed to the noise level this time.
Our first time to visit and I must say that my wife and I were very pleased with all aspects of dining at Uchiko.
We had theater tickets and explained our timeline to our waiter Jeremy. Jeremy was an awesome example of a perfect waiter. He offered great suggestions and was spot on with all his recommendations.
P38 roll was awesome and I enjoyed the Short Ribs.
Please tell Jeremy we look forward to seeing him again.
The waitress was amazing as was the food. We’ve been there a few times and it’s always a super fun and tasty experience. My favorite place to treat myself in Austin.
Chef’s tasting absolutely fantastic as always.
Best place in town!
As always everything was excellent!
It was the most disappointing $425 I've ever spent, including for divorce lawyers.
This is still one of the best restaurants in Austin. I have been coming for 8yrs And there has been no change in quality and service. Still continues to serve amazing dishes.
Our server was spectacular. She asked our preferences and then created a fantastic tasting menu. Great experience all around.
Birthday celebration. Food was amazing and cocktails tasty. Main Server was inattentive and lacked knowledge. Staff has been very attentive and knowledgeable about foods and drinks during past reservations. I was very disappointed in our primary server. She was very inattentive and did not follow Uchiko standards. We were celebrating my guest’s birthday and I feel like Uchiko did not offer its best presentation at price of $300 for two.
Never fail, tried and true, best flavors you could ever anticipate. The service was impeccable as always. I love bringing people here. We finished with the buttered lobster special and I am still dreaming about it.
My husbands birthday dinner was excellent
