Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support!
Uchiko, translated as "child of Uchi" from Japanese, is the next restaurant venture for renowned executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole. Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole’s highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. Uchiko will feature a new menu with Uchi’s same style of innovative, fresh cuisine, a main dining room that accepts reservations throughout the evening and an eat-in bar/café area.

What Insiders Are Saying
Uchiko isn't a sequel to Uchi. It's more like a fraternal twin.
Amazing food, service and environment. An all time favorite!
We came in late, too late. However the kitchen and staff was delightful, understanding, professional. Love this place.
Outstanding experience on every level! Totally worth the drive from downtown ...
You will read allot of hype about this place, it will live up to the hype.
Had the 10 course tasting menu and everything was absolutely delicious. The service was also wonderful!
Been here several times and while the food is outstanding, the service the last two times has been rushed and not particularly friendly. When dining in such a great venue, being pressured into a 55-minute meal isn’t cool.
Amazing food and service. Nice modern take on sushi and the fish is absolutely fresh. Flown daily from Tokyo.
Service is always impeccable and the food was wonderful. Already made another reservation to go back next week with another friend.
My family love this place to enjoy good quality food.
Awesome experience again. The staff was friendly and engaging. Extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu. Will definitely be coming back for more!
Mac had a great knowledge of the menu and gave outstanding recommendations.
We enjoyed our evening with our very dear friends. The wait staff is very educated on the option you have to offer.
Absolutely impeccable service and food. Zero complaints at all
Great experience with the Omakase menu! Our server was attentive and all the bites were delicious!
The food has unique flavors - different things to try and just totally fab!
Dont Forget the bouvee and fried milk
The best food and the best service I've ever had.. which is a big deal in Austin where all food is amazing and all service is crap! Everything on the menu is unbelievable and even better than it sounds. The service was absolutely incredible. They made fantastic recommendations, tell you the best way to enjoy each dish, explain everything you would want to know, ugh just perfect.
Ever since Uchiko opened, my husband and I have been coming to the restaurant once a year to celebrate my birthday. As one would assume, it's a special occasion: The food at Uchiko is singular, and the dining environment makes for a special evening. We both lived in New York City for almost two decades, and Uchiko has been one of the few restaurants in Austin that has measured up to our best dining experiences in New York—both in terms of service, food, and overall hospitality. It always made sense to choose Uchiko for a special celebration. That said, this changed on Thursday evening: The service wasn't quite as good. The atmosphere didn't quite have a festive quality of a special dining experience. Instead, it felt more like a regular restaurant with fellow diners coming in for dinner after a day of work. Over the years, it's been Uchiko's policy to give a complimentary dessert due to the birthday occasion. There was no dessert on Thursday. We spoke to the manager and he apologized. As we said to him, it's not about the money, it was more the gesture in creating a feeling of celebration. I felt a little defeated by the loud dining room and the impersonal service as we left the restaurant. I want to keep returning to Uchiko for my favorite/birthday meal of the year, but also I want to experience a dining experience that embodies that kind of specialness versus going out for an everyday dinner. Thank you for listening to me. I hope this can be addressed. Warmly, Sheila Kirk Walsh
Everything was great at Uchiko. Excellent waitstaff, food, ambiance (although noisy for older folks to hear one another) all great. Be advised that you will spend around $200 per couple. One of our favorite restaurants anywhere along with Mama's Fishhouse in Maui and Jake's in Del Mar. Same for Uchi's in Austin, Dallas, and Denver. All outstanding.
The team at Uchiko delivered one of the finest experiences I've received at a restaurant in any city! First and foremost, the establishment staff took note of my wife's vegetarian needs and provided special care and attention to her as we celebrated her birthday. Secondly, Alejandro paced our dining experience very attentively and offered great suggestions. Thirdly, the kitchen delivered a few treats on the house for a Birthday surprise-who does that? Wow! Finally, Uchiko is a gorgeous restaurant on the interior and the ambiance ups the ante for a special evening for that special someone in your life. Go, go, go!
Lovely food, great service.,. Too noisy to have a conversation with even one person.
Every restaurant should have diners who want communication over “energetic”
Amazing food as usual
Outstanding on all levels!
The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the chef's tasting menu - and they also did a vegetarian version for my mother and me. The food was not only beautiful, but the tastes were incredible. My favorites were the avocado sushi, the vegetable roll, and the brussel sprouts. The flavors were incredible and the textures were also great. My dad was making the best faces to the food he was trying, so I'm very happy that he enjoyed it so much. The service was also really good - they made sure to always keep our table clean and to make sure they accommodated to our dietary restrictions.
Excellent! Food is amazing.
Our meal was absolutely perfect from the food to the service. 10/10 would recomend.
Good food, very creative and good products.
Service is good, ambience is little bit loud.
Food was fantastic and service was great.
The best restaurant in Austin. We are never disapointed
Magical experience, fabulous
Uchiko's food was fresh and delicious. It is a little pricey, but you are definitely paying for quality food. Their service is impeccable, and their staff takes the time to find out about your allergies, and explain everything that goes into your food. Great restaurant, can definitely see why there's a hype for it!
Amazing - not your ordinary sushi place. Inventive flavors, preparation, and presentation.
We unfortunately had to wait over an hour to be seated after our reserved time. However, this was well made up by the staff.
I give service only 3 starts even though our waiter was excellent and the food came out quickly...they made us wait nearly 30 min past our reservation time.
The food is always amazing. We allow the chef to select our menu and are never disappointed. The only downside side is it’s a bit noisy.
Food was amazing! The Edamame was life-alteringly good and an absolute must! I would highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar if you can, as it added so much to the experience! Our sushi Chef (hopefully this is the correct title, if not, my apologies) was wonderful... I asked a lot of annoying questions and he graciously answered all of them and provided awesome service! I would definitely make this a must do for date night or a 1 on 1 friend night out, you won't be disappointed. :)
Thank you Uchiko, I will definitely be back!
2 words the best
We had an amazing food experience with an attentive staff.
Great as usual!
