What Insiders Are Saying
Uchiko isn't a sequel to Uchi. It's more like a fraternal twin.
Absolutely AMAZING food! Our server was extremely attentive and even brought us an extra s'mores dessert because she heard us talking about our camping trip. I'm a vegetarian and my husband is not, but they made the chef's tasting for two work for both of us. Our server asked us all the right questions so we got food we loved. A little pricey but great for a special occasion.
This may have been the best food I have ever eaten! Incredible menu.
Always a treat. Consistently mind-blowing. It’s a full experience for the tastebuds. This remains one of the top 3 best restaurants in Austin for me.
Freakin delicious. Brandon was an amazing server and was so helpful and informative. My friend was visiting from out of state and we are STILL talking about how delicious the meal was. Can’t wait to come back.
I am very disappointed, definitely not worth the price! My server knew that it was my birthday she just didn’t give a F. She had a big table that arrived right after we placed our order so she gave them all her attention. I wonder if it has to do with race. She was missing most of the time. She also seemed quite annoyed when we ask for recommendations. I tipped her well because I used to be a server.
Best restaurant in Austin. Never fails to deliver.
When you arrive at Uchiko it reads as a stylish but comfy place to have sushi -- Austin has plenty of similar restaurant options. Uchiko challenges you in the sense that you read the menu, pick your items, and then are COMPLETELY blown away. Your expectations vs. how your taste buds communicate with your brain will be wrong -- In the BEST possible way. Impeccable service to boot. So tip your servers y'all, and come to Tyson Cole's place. You won't regret it.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Hard to find food like this elsewhere. It’s on an entirely different level.
Everything about Uchiko is AMAZING. Go there, you must see for yourself.
Amazing food, easily the best sushi I've ever had. Strongly recommend it
The food was absolutely incredible. I’ve been wanting to go to Uchiko for three years and it didn’t disappoint in the slightest. I was blown away by the care and preparation put into each dish and the flavors were indescribable. I highly recommend the Jasmine Cream dessert.
Absolutely the best sushi we've ever had. Came in at 5:15, but stayed past happy hour. Charles was our chef and Lindsay took care of drinks. We'd been traveling all day, tired and brain fried, we just asked Charlie to take of us. After a few questions ( about allergies and how adventurous were we), he knocked it out of the park. We loved everything he served us, especially the sea bream, 72 hr steak, and the amazing oysters. The bill was painful, but worth every dime in the end. We will go back!
Awesome 10 course meal. Blew my mind. So good.
Everything was delicious, the service was great. We choose the chef’s tasting menu. It was our anniversary and they gave us a free dessert.
My only negative comment is about the sushi, it is tinny! If you are going to charge $4-7 per piece of sushi do it in the regular size!
Outstanding cuisine. Came in to celebrate my boyfriend's Birthday and first was seated at a table which was ehh , not special, or great for a special occasion and loud. Disappointing start as I worked in Hi-end fine dining for a decade in NYC and would have thought the host would have had a better table ready, especially as one of the last reservations. I asked to sit at the bar and from then on we had a great night. Bartender was friendly and great at suggestions, attentive and sent us a few treats with an extra Bday dessert! My boyfriend and I were thrilled with everything. Can't wait to come back and try more!
In my opinion this is the best sushi in town!
The combinations are different and interesting and the sauces are to die for.
Service was fast and friendly, loved it!
Uchiko never disappoints. I love coming here for HH and dinners. It's good that they can squeeze us on the fly if they are available. The quality and service is always top notch, and if you do not like something or make a mistake in ordering it, they will do whatever it takes to make you happy. My server definitely did that when I ordered the wrong type of scallops. He apologized even when it was my fault for misunderstanding. He made sure my expectations were met.
Good food. Very expensive.
Hats off to Chef Charlie for the delightful omakase the other night. His attention to detail goes beyond the timing of courses and proportions. The contrast of textures and temperatures were all deliberate. Our meal was a delightful experience of perfect little bites. Sorry, we couldn't buy you and your crew a round of shift beers, but next time, Chef!
It was one of my best dining experiences ever. Both the food and the wine were exceptional! Our waiter was helpful but not intrusive.
Love going here. My favorite restaurant in Austin!
probably the best sushi we've ever had. We did the omakase menu and it did not disappoint!
Some of the best sushi I've had, to include Japan! True art. And the service to match, without the pretension.
Uchiko is our favorite place to splurge because the quality of the food cannot be matched. Uchiko provides sushi, sashimi, and nigiri, but also other dishes for those not too keen on raw fish. Our favorite dishes have been their steak, wagyu, and fried chicken. Crazy! It’s a chill atmosphere that can at times get loud. Always sit at the sushi bar, for small amounts of guests, for an awesome experience viewing all the orders coming in and being prepared. Be prepared for an expensive meal, but again the quality of the food and atmosphere is beyond worth the cost.
Uchiko is our favorite place to go when my family comes to visit. Start with the grilled Edamame, Uchi Salad, or Brussell Sprouts, and you can't go wrong. We love the atmosphere and one of the best places for services in the entirety of Austin City Limits. We love the Hama Chili, Hot Rock, Karaage, Tempura Onion Rings as well. Also, they have some of the best fish in the coty. I usually go with Madai, Hamachilli, and Escolar for Sushi. Uni if I am real daring.
This was the most amazing food we have ever eaten. It was as a special night for us and Lance Gillum and the entire team at Uchiko made it memorable! We will be back next time we are in Austin..
My wife and I took my mom here for her birthday. As always, the food and service were amazing.
First time visit for anniversary. Saw pictures on website and decide to give it a try. We’re still talking about it. It was FABULOUS, AWESOME, and worth every penny. We asked our host for suggestions, and he did a perfect job selecting and serving. We absolutely fell in LOVE with this place.
Great food and ambiance! Had a wonderful time with my husband for our anniversary!
I wish I could give them more stars than 5!!!
Great food and attentive service. Not only did the food taste wonderful, the presentations were lovely. The servers were well informed and helpful with selections and explanations. A great evening!
Good food, portions are small, even for sushi - sides are normal. The fish is fresh and the rice is a little off from authentic sushi. We crossed $150 with just two of us and no drinks with ease and then went out for dessert. This is s nice place and worth a try but it is not traditional sushi. That said, we had some amazing dishes and enjoyed ourselves.
Get one of the sushi chef's to do the chef special... great options!
We went there for my husband's birthday. Our server Lindsay made the meal a special event. Everything was exquisite. I'll be dreaming of our dinner for months to come.
The food, service and overall dining experience is consistently amazing at Uchiko. This is our go-to place for an incredible evening out.
Fantastic dining experience! The Brussels sprouts were outstanding and I don’t normally eat them!
Had a great time and great food as we always do at Uchiko - but wanted to take a moment to say that our waiter, Brandon, was phenomenal. He made great recommendations from the daily menu, helped tweak our order based on feedback, and was generally quick, friendly, and accommodating. Thanks for the great dining experience, Brandon!
