What Insiders Are Saying
Uchiko isn't a sequel to Uchi. It's more like a fraternal twin.
Fantastic experience with Julia as our guide!
Always the best choice in Austin for creative, fresh & exceptional cuisine. Service is always excellent. There is nothing to ever complain about u less you are not expecting the prices which are proportional to the experience.
Easy to make a reservation. Restaurant followed up to confirm via phone call, which was appreciated. Quick seating. Staff recommendations were great. Efficient in removing dishes that were no longer needed and refilling drinks. Food was amazing. Recommend the Brussels sprouts and short rib. Definitely worth the price. I would say more of a special occasion restaurant, for two reasons: the pricing and it would make the enjoyable experience that much more appreciated.
Uchiko never disappoints. From the Ko salad, the sushi, sashimi, and hot rock, and the deserts, this is still the best restaurant I have ever had the pleasure to eat at in the sixty plus years I have been eating out. We happened to be in New York city earlier this year, so we thought we would try one of the top Japanese restaurants there. It sucked compared to Uchiko, and was more expensive. Uchiko. I never miss an opportunity to eat there each time I visit Austin. Go. Enjoy.
You definitely can’t say anything negative about the Uchiko experience. If one COULD say something was a con, maybe the price? But, you get what you pay for and everything we had was absolutely amazing and worth every penny.
We went in with no plan, we told our server (Savannah) the kind of items we like at our usual sushi spot (Soto) and told Savannah to bring us courses she’d recommend. She did not disappoint! Her knowledge, enthusiasm and selections made our date night that much more enjoyable and we plan to go back soon.
Phenomenal. Loved every bite. Each dish was so memorable and crazy well prepared. Michelin star level meal.
Both Uchi and Uchiko are amazing in their own right and at both spots the service and food is impeccable. Uchiko is a bit more spacious and relaxed. Overall, it was amazing fish highlighted in the cleanest most stunning ways. If you love all you can eat this is not your speed. If you love sashimi and want to know how fish you won't find at any sushi joint tastes like then you're in for a treat.
Always perfect. Even my 6yrs and 9yrs old daughters chose this restaurant to celebrate their birthdays
Exemplary ! !
Uchiko is amazing! I take my rents/family/friends in town every time someone comes to visit. Lindsay was awesome also as she always is. Incredible service, great atmosphere, incredible eats. Huge fan!
My 2nd time here with my wife. It was just as discussed as it was last time.
The vegetarian menu was surprisingly expansive and thoughtful. Everything we ordered was beautiful and delicious. The service was well beyond what I expected and the Chef de Cuisine personally thanked us for dining with them. I would definitely recommend Uchiko for anniversaries or birthdays.
My fiance and I love this place! We've been a handful of times and love to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays here. Our waiter was incredibly kind to us, and we were celebrating our 6 year anniversary. He brought us complimentary rose which was delicious! The incredible food, atmosphere, and service will keep us always coming back! Just get ready to spend $$$.
Lost its edge. Just okay. No longer an amzing experience.
Really delicious and innovative sushi and Asian cuisine. We were a large work group and the team there was good at being flexible to accommodate us, thanks for that!
Hands down one of the best restaurants in Austin! This should be on everyone's top 5 list.
Wonderful as usual
We've been to both restaurants, Uchi and Uchiko, and they both have been excellent choices for their great food, ambience, and service. Great place to take a date, or just to go and enjoy great food!
Outstanding, they did everything right.
Seated quickly, great service, unique selection and amazing food.
We will definitely be back!
Food was really great, except one item. BUT I believe that was a preference not the food itself. Just read or ask for descriptions for items of which you may not have experience.
The only thing I found very disturbing was that my guest's main meal or entree came about 15 min before mine. Server said another server picked up my entree. In the meantime my guest's food/fish became cold and he had to eat without me. Meanwhile the table next to me received a complementary side just for being a new guest. "Try this, on the house" the server said. Wow! We were first time guest too.
This was, hands down, the best meal I have ever had. Props to Mac for being extraordinary, and the rest of the team for making our time at Uchiko the highlight of our trip to Austin.
I honestly don’t think it was worth the money spent. We ate several items from almost every part of the menu and had a good bottle of French wine.
Excellent and unique food and high quality service. Best place in Austin for a special occasion.
Not only was the food and service as wonderful as usual, but they took extra care with the water shortage to continue they exceptional service. My parents who were in town had a great time and loved the food. Great night overall!
Uchiko is Our go to spot for special occasions. You must order the fried milk for desert..
Social Hour...great prices. Need reservations. It was cold in the bar area...and didn't warm up.
Amazing, as always.
The food was incredible and the service was amazing. We selected the chef tasting dinner and our server gave us drink recommendations for each course. We will definitely be back next time we are in Austin
Hands down the best food I’ve had in a long time! Service was on point and the atmosphere was perfect
Always a great experience and I've been at least a hundred times. One of the best restaurants in the country.
Amazing as always. Not to be missed. Prefect for the special occasion
Just the greatest food, totally awesome, do t miss it!
We always make a point to visit Uchiko when we’re in Austin. Never a disappointment!
Food showed you just how amazing food can be.
Service was perfect.
Ambiance is warm and unique.
One of our favorite places.
We’ll fleet oysters special blew my mind
Amazing food. Outstanding service. As always.
We saw the server only 2 times when she took the order and when she presented the check. The time of the food was poor, we received one plate later other one, so we did not share our dinner together. Food quality was good but service was average.
Truly excellent and creative food with superb service.
Finally got to Uchiko for date night. Food was great, servers were attentive and knowledgeable. Would definitely come again.
Returned to Uchiko after perhaps a year, having gone to Uchi in the interim. Perhaps bc there were four of us but Uchiko blew us away. Pitch perfect!
