Trofi Restaurant - Doubletree by Hilton Kansas City - Overland Park
Crab cake was lukewarm in the center. The short rib was tough. Server brought desert before she cleared the entree plate. It was not satisfactory lunch.
Food was great! Our server was excellent, but our food took way too long to get.
I went to the Christmas Day buffet. I think it was around $40/person. The food was cafeteria quality. Rubbery, overcooked meat. Cold items like salmon and various salads were not kept cold (not on ice, just served in a bowl on the buffet table). Everything was left out a little too long and had that dried out look/taste. Desserts tasted like they were made from mixes.
To be fair, this review pertains to Trofi's Christmas buffet, which was not served in the restaurant. While it was well organized and the service was very good for a buffet, the food was terrible. Trofi would have been better off to not have their name associated with the event. It being the first time I ever ate at the restaurant - although it wasn't actually at the restaurant - I will likely never try the actual restaurant. Far too expensive for this poor quality of food. Unfortunate, because we hoped we had found a new go-to restaurant.
This was Christmas day and was in the ball room so I really can't say how the restaurant is.
The restaurant was great & the food was very good. The people were very warm and especially accommodating considering after Open Table screwed up the reservation. We had made reservations for 7 and when we arrived Open Table had only made it for 4. Thank God the hotel had room for us & helped save our very special family gathering from disaster. Nice Job Open Table (NOT)!!!!!!
The service & attention that we received during our time in the restaurant was top notch! The manager, Kevin, and his staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our food was also wonderful. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
This Restaurant is the old Nikko's. The decor is older. But, the appetizers, the crab cakes and the cheese plate excellent. The 7oz. Filet mignon was beyond excellent. Grilled perfectly. I got the rice as a side with a side Cesar salad. All superb. The chocolate cake awesome and fresh coffee. I cannot say enough about the quality of everything. Okay, so I have tried three similar steaks at four hotel related restaurants or in close proximity. In the last three weeks. I believe that hotel restaurants are hidden gems for food and it is true and a better value. I had filet mignon all 4oz. to 8oz. in weight. And, I had been too Grand Street cafe twice as well as Ignite the same. We like to eat out. No kids, no dirty kitchen.
The best so far Trofi! The food just exceptional. So, head to Trofi and get the filet mignon you won't regret it.
After going to Trofie's at Christmas for over 20 years, this was the worst meal we have ever had there. The food had no flavor, the choices on the buffet had been cut back. Not worth the price charged for this! It was a true disappointment!
We went for the Thanking buffet. The food was very tasty and the selection was very good.
We drove from Lee's Summit and have a reservation. We were seated immediately. I would suggest waffles or something more at the breakfast area. I didn't like all that pulp in the mimosa. The piano music was wonderful. The non-breakfast food was delicious. We will come again.
We went here for Easter Brunch. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the made to order omelets. Our waitress was super nice asking how we enjoyed the food and making sure we had mimosas and hot water for my tea.
tooo many scrambled eggs out to keep warm, no watermelon, butter too cold
not too bad really
Went here for Christmas brunch. Festive decor and live holiday music were nice touches. Wait staff was very attentive. Food was average. Liked omelet station. Seafood Newburg tasted too salty and hash brown potatoes were dried out. Desserts were all good.
It was much better than I expected. It was a limited menu but we were both pleased with our choices.
Great food! Would recommend and will go back!
Service was ok, we were early eating (5:30) so everything was not staffed. Steak and veggies were good but a little pricey. All in all it was a nice evening..
Steve and his staff were courteous and kind, taking care of diners young and old. The pianist was excellent. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff and good food with plenty to choose from. We enjoyed our time there with family celebrating Mother's Day. Price was a little high; would recommend a discount for seniors.
I expected more breakfast items: waffles, biscuits & gravy, "traditional" eggs Benedict, hash brown potatoes or fried potatoes.
I expected a larger variety of fruits. It was very "skimpy".
I expected a larger variety of desserts.
The server never even asked if anyone wanted coffee. When my milk glass was empty, she didn't ask if I wanted more milk.
We've previously enjoyed the brunches at The Trofi Restaurant, but we're probably going to move on to a different restaurant next year for a different experience.
Loved loved loved this place! When my husband and I arrived we were the only 2 there which made it even more special. It was his 32nd Birthday. He had the Bbq pork roast and I had the herb roasted half chicken. It was amazing! The staff was friendly and nice.
Prime rib cooked perfectly. Good selection of vegetables and starches. Wide variety of desserts. A little pricey but OK for a special occasion.
Trofi was fantastic beginning with our first step int the door. We were greeted with a smile and at least three "Good Morning's". We were taken to our seat immediately and greeted by the server within seconds. The food was great. An omelet bar, fruit, prime rib, ham, chicken, fish, and sweets galore. This will definitely be on the list for brunch in the future. Outstanding
The price was too much for the choices provided. The server was friendly but MIA for the majority of the time we were there.
This is going to be a regular restaurant for us to go to for Easter brunch. The food was wonderful and the selections were unbelievable.
This was our first time dining at Trofi. All in all it could have been a little quicker but the staff compensated for whatever issues they had going on in the kitchen. The waiter did give me a free glass of wine for recompense. Our total time including wait was just under 2 hours, which is exactly what I expected. My steak was a perfect medium as well as tender and flavorful, and the rest of the 3 courses were delicious as well. I'll give them another try soon.
Quality food. Great service! I enjoyed the experience and would recommend to a friend.
The food was very good. The presentation at the buffet was gorgeous! Our waitress (Sadie) was so very kind. We felt as if ours was the only table she was serving that day. Thanks for a memorable feast!
Rare occasion to go to restaurant and food ok...service just ok. Ordered bread...served to us at end of meal so told server we didn't want it.
Not very many people in restaurant. Probably won't be back. Server just a little too causal...ordered drink. He came back to let us know there was alcohol in it...that's what we ordered. Restaurant more like a very casual restaurant so not sure why "business casual" is stated on line.
Waiters in Royals Shirts and that's great but still a little more casual than expected.
there was no one to check us in for our reservation we had to look for someone to check us in.
I didn't like how the staff was dressed seemed too unprofessional even if it was to support the royals, they looked too shifty. had good food but I wasn't in awe. Its a beautiful restaurant but the staff needs to work on their hospitality
I wasn't too hungry so settled on the salad. What I got was enough for 2 people. Great selection of greens, chicken, hard boiled egg, cheese, bacon and avocado. Reasonably priced for the size. Topped off with some great beverages.
This was my second experience with this restaurant. I used it because it supports the Performing Arts Series at Johnson County Community College which is quite admirable. It is an extremely attractive and quiet venue which my wife and I really like. The food is very good, though the menu is limited. The gourmet burger I had was quite good and the fries perfectly cooked. My wife's food was also nice. They have to have one of the slower kitchens in town however. Both times I was there, even with only a few patrons present, it took a half hour to get our food. Both our meals were perfectly cooked and presented hot, however. I will go back because of its great arts support and atmosphere. My waiter was attentive and eager to please.
We chose to go on a Saturday night based on other Open Table reviewers' comments. We hoped for a quiet setting with very few other diners present, and we were pleased to find that to be the case. We arrived just before 6:00 P.M., were seated in the secluded dining area, and had it all to ourselves for nearly a half hour. For this particular evening, it was perfect for us. The menu was limited, but we liked the options and enjoyed the flavors of the items we selected. We could sense that waiting tables was not the server's career of choice, but still served us sufficiently. This restaurant won't be a frequent destination for us, but we will be back the next time we desire a quiet, peaceful ambiance.
We went on a Saturday evening at 6:30pm. We had possibly the best hamburger I have ever had. There was only one other couple there. We live close to the Double Tree but this was our first time there. We will definitely be back. The service was awesome. Open Table 1000 point reservation led us there.
...to eat here unless you don't have a car and can't walk the block east to better restaurants. The menu was uninspired and the food was just okay. The service was awful and the ambiance non-existent.
on a Saturday evening we decided to go to Trofi for dinner, even though we could not see the menu on line, we
did a reservation, very surprised when we got there, we had the restaurant for us two!!! then a couple of ladies came in
and this was all, four people only.
The food was good, salmon and delicious baby back ribs.
We ate at the restaurant on a Saturday night for our 6th wedding anniversary and we were the only people in the place from the beginning to the end of our meal. The food was very good and service was also. The ribs were some of the best I've ever had, super tender fall off the bone.
I just spent the week at the Doubletree Hotel in Overland Park, Kansas. I had several meals at Trofi. This is one hotel restaurant that really surpasses in terms of food and service. The restaurant staff and manager went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable meals and great service. One night I was the only diner and the bartender/server really took good care of me. Everyone I encountered in the hotel and especially at Trofi was very friendly and concerned that I was pleased with their service at all times. Ask to sit in the back and you will be surprised at the pleasant environment. I don't know why this place isn't busier. If you are in Overland Park and want great food and service you need to check this place out.
Trofi's is an updated and sophisticated restaurant. It has a quiet and mature environment that makes one feel comfortable upon entering the restaurant.
Second year enjoying a delicious Mother's Day brunch at Trofi. Kids were disappointed there were no pancakes or waffles. This was overheard by staff who unasked promptly brought a piping hot plate of pancakes from the kitchen to the table. Excellent service. We'll definitely return!
The ribs are going to surprise you...they are better than any slab I have ever gotten from any of the KC BBQ Kings, OK Joes included...the Matre' D is exceptional...
