   The filet mignon is excellent here. The Trappers sirloin steak is tough. When you ask for medium cooked, some of it will be rare. Best to ask for medium well. Bartender was new and made a very bitter cocktail. The waiter was kind and exchanged it for us. They try hard here. Just be careful what you order. Setting is nice and it was quiet.

   The ambiance was not so all what I expected. Hidden on the fourth floor of a nice, but nothing special Holiday Inn. Big bar area with sports on televisions. Not the romantic steakhouse atmosphere I expected. The service was also lackluster. Not bad but not upscale and given the restaurant was almost empty, the service could have been more attentive. The steak Oscar was outstanding and the filet on the volcanic rock was delicious and fun to cook at the table. I’d return for the food but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired.

   You have to have order from the Romancing The Stone part of the menu. It is so much fun to cook your premium steak on a hot lava rock!

   We made a reservation about an hour before we went in and were seated without problem. The shrimp appetizer left a little to be desired (4 large shrimp that tasted like they'd been defrosted from frozen). Our entrees were delicious. We decided to forgo the stone experience at our table and had the kitchen prepare our steaks. They were prepared just as we asked. Not the quietest, most romantic place, but the piano player was great and we enjoyed our anniversary dinner.

   Noise level overrode all other complaints. Waiter was not the best but could have lived with him. Seemed to be a lot of women couples eating there that night. Neither good nor bad; just a comment.

   I met an old friend who was visiting town at Trapper's for dinner. We were professionally greeted, and sat at a nice table. Our server, Michael, was fantastic and provided great information and recommendations. We each order the Elk tenderloin dinner which was properly cooked to our liking and was delicious. Our sides of creamed spinach and sautéed mushroom were a nice complement to the meal. The one critique I have is that the side vegetables that accompanied the meal, carrots/asparagus, were barely Luke Warm when the meal arrived, and cold after just a few bites. I didn't finish them. Wine list was respectable and resonably priced. I would recommend and return for a future meal.

   We live in the area and have been at Trapper's several times since they originally opened and owned by Terrell Davis (Broncos). Food and service is always consistent and good. Live music is a treat and typically more of a background / non-obtrusive variety, which is pleasing. Easy to have a private conversation without crazy "background" noise. The wine list is very good!!!

    We made a reservation at 8pm for our Anniversary. we were sat right away but we never got waited on. No one brought water to our table offered to take our drink order, or said they would be right with us. My husband made eye contact with several waiters but no one ever cam over so we got up and left after 25 minutes of waiting and went to Saltgrasd next door where we received excellent immediate service.
