Trapper's Chop House
Very good food but it seems like the menu keeps changing.
Very poor. First, this is supposed to e a nice restaurant. My wife ordered the steak Oscar. She wasn't eating it so I had a taste. Took me 30 minutes and a trip to bad Ken Robbins ice cream to get the bad taste out of my mouth.
I ordered their hot lava plate steak. They bring the steak out TO BE COOKED, so, of course the plate is bloody. The hot stone cooks meat real quickly so when done I had no place to put the cooked steak. I couldn't keep it on the stone! Anyway after asking for a plate 5hey bring me out a small saucer for my meal.
At end, food sucked, expensive, never going back.
Three of us ordered the steak special from the restaurant week menu. All three of us could not cut the meat.
Best steak that I have had in quite a while!!! Great
The restaurant needs to modify their ventilation system if they are going to continue to offer the stone. Also, we were never offered any bread while other tables around us were. Food took awhile to come out as well
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner and a great view with friends last week. Food and wine was great. Love the fact that tables are spaced far enough away from each other to allow for a more intimate dining experience.
Good food! Our waitress was great and the food was excellent. All the staff made us feel special.
Our waiting time for the food was perfect true 4 course meal.
Great service and food! Trapper’s is consistently lovely on all counts!!
It was our first time. Heard good things, so decided to try. Happy we did! Will come back.
Steaks on the stone were great. The Chicken Cordon Bleu and the Truffle Fries were not good, both were very dry. The service was slow considering we were one of three tables in the restaurant. We have been there before, so we will give it another chance.
We had a lovely, quite dinner on a Sunday night. The hostess sat us by the window, per our request, so we could see the sunset. The waiter was attentive but not overly so, and he recommended the hot stone, cook at your table dinner selection. We both had that option and really enjoyed the experience. We stayed for over 2 hours and never felt rushed. Lovely place, highly recommend.
I reserved this location because it was my first date place with my girlfriend. I wanted valentines to be special I asked for a booth by the window 2 month prior. after arriving we they sat us at a table until the booth was ready. the staff was unprofessional, after more than an hour of waiting we finally got the booth we wanted and had reserved. The first thing Andy said to us was there is no romancing the stone so you cant order that. On valentines to run out of the number one item is POOR MANAGMENT. so my girlfriend said to me this place is gone downhill lets leave I was so shocked she would ever say or do anything like this she has never walked out after being seated. the couple next to us said that was a smart move to walk out!!!! we went to the front to ask for the manager the girl walked over to the manager and then retuned to say that he wasn't in!!! ON VALENTINES DAY MANAGER ISNT IN!!!! he is a prime example of the worst customer service possible!!! grow a set and step up to your mistakes!!! I would advise anyone to NEVER EAT HERE!!!!!!
Food was very good. Server was very good. Took way too long to get our food. But it was valentines Day too. Thought it was a bit over priced
Hi WayneL: Thanks for letting us know your feedback about the timing. We appreciate knowing this sort of thing so we can work on consistency and improving on our overall service. As far as our pricing, we offer items from $8 up to $49 with a good majority of them being in the mid $20 range, so we feel there is a good variety of various pricing options for all of our diners. We do hope to have you back with us again, especially for restaurant week!
Can definitely tell that management has changed. We had to wait quite awhile for our meal, the bread that used to come out right away we had to basically ask for it. We went for our usual romancing the stone and after already waiting quite awhile was told that they ran out of stones luckily they still cook a good steak. Presentation has also changed the 3 sauces we typically get with our meal used to come in like these fancy dishes and your sides for your baked potato would come in like little stainless steel dishes, now the sauces come in the stainless steel dishes and the baked potato sides came in plastic cups. Not exactly what I've came to expect from this upscale restaurant, lastly and not a huge deal but we noticed that they have gone to very cheap paper towels in the bathroom again not a big deal but did not go unnoticed. I don't know when management changed and hopefully this is just a transition period I really hate to lose Trapper's as it has always been our go to when we want to have a nice upscale evening out.
Hi yeppers: Our Hotel and Restaurant went under new ownership and management in May of 2018. Since then we have been working diligently to keep the restaurant and hotel operating soundly and profitably. I want to thank you for your feedback and the points that we, as managers and owners would not necessarily see as an issue. The issues with the containers and serving items is simply because of the sheer volume we were producing this past "holiday" weekend, but we do hear you.
One word to describe the service, atrocious! 90 minutes to get an appetizer and 2 salads, and then they wouldn't even clear the plates. Ruined our Valentine's dinner. So angry with myself for choosing this restaurant.
Have been going here for years on valentines and Mother’s Day. This time it seemed different. Food was overcooked though serving size was huge. Overall ambiance was not great though.
Very slow service, heavy smoke in air from cooking on stones , not what it used to be.
The steaks were perfect. Unfortunately the smoke from the stone cooked stakes from other tables filled the room and forced the staff to open a door which then made it cold.in the room.
Friends birthday
Thanks for coming to celebrate your Friend's special day!
Cooking on the stone is amazing!! Every time I am in town I eat at Trappers! Way better than the high end Restaurants!! S, E, F!!
Good variety, very roomy and spacious, steak Oscar excellent
Awesome as always!
Service was a little slow but we were there celebrating New Year’s so not a big deal! Waitstaff was very friendly but seemed a bit overwhelmed. Food was excellent as always!
The only problem we all have with the food is the vegetables are not steamed. We are an older group and cannot eat almost raw vegetables. By older i mean 39-76
Worst service we have had at Trappers. Server got orders mixed up, spilled food and were not attentive. And it was not crowded. Must have been an off night? Food was good.
Our first time back since the remodel. Food and service were as good as I remember.
It was my boyfriend birthday we celebrated last weekend. I am very pleased with service very friendly and fast, food was outstanding. We were able to converse, it was not loud at all. I recommend this restaurant in a heart beat.
Hadn't been for a few years and thought we'd try it for my wife's birthday. First, the decor hasn't changed much at all and is looking a bit dated. I'd expect more for a restaraunt in this price range. Very disappointed in the service. We were never offered bread by our server who seemed very rushed and not very friendly. Asked for the bottle of cab that was on the "specials" list and they didn't have it. They did sub a merlot from the same winery at the same price, though. That was the only option we were given. Had to ask for salt and pepper as there was none on the table and none was offered. Ordered the schnitzel which was good but had very little gravy on it. Asked a different server for more gravy as we couldn't find ours. She brought it back very quickly but it was luke warm at best. Over-all disappointment.
Took my mom to the restaurant for her birthday and aksed for a steak wel done amd received meduim rare. Then it was taken to the kitchen and flame kissed which ruined it. She ordered fish instead. The waitress was awesome and its a nice place, but a ruined steak in a chop house isn't good!
We had a wonderful meal and if I had to find anything to improve on it would be a few more veggies on the plate.
Great food and service
My 55th birthday I chose Trappers. Ambiance and service was good. The salad was amazing but my steak was awful. I ordered a steak med rare and it came out pretty crispy, difficult to cut through. The waiter was very kind and noticed that my meal was not eaten and took mine off the bill but unfortunately I can't re-do the birthday night. The manager never said a word. Hostess was not friendly before or after our meal. Next year I will go somewhere else.
This was our first time here. We ordered the calamari for appetizer. It had a good flavor but it was overly sweet and the calamari rings were small, about a dime in diameter (the smallest I've seen) and very chewy. While waiting for our food, a manager came by to let us know our food was overcooked (both of ours) and they were starting over. They apologized and would comp our desserts. Honestly, we think they misplaced our food ticket as we saw another couple who were seated 15-30 minutes after us, receive their food before us. The steak was decent but we weren't super impressed by the steak and sides especially for the price. The dessert was okay. I'm not certain we would return again unless there was a coupon deal. On the other hand, our server was very pleasant and friendly.
The good: Service was prompt, polite, and responsive. My server did a great job of checking in, clearing plates, and getting refills. The steak was cooked correctly, to a nice medium rare.
The bad: Two 4oz filet medallions with cold mashed potatoes and carrots for $40 seems a bit pricey. The bearnaise sauce was cool and the remoulade was ice cold, which was not a good accompaniment to the warm steak. I would have preferred a more suitable vegetable for red meat, such as broccoli or asparagus, rather than a pile of cooked carrots.
The ugly: After not being allowed to make a reservation for one on OpenTable, I changed my party size to two, which seemed to work. When I showed up, there was a brief, private elevator ride up to the fourth floor. The doors opened to a restaurant that is a cavernous space with, only four other occupied tables. I wondered why I would even need a reservation in the first place. The room was too bright and the music seemed a bit loud for the atmosphere.
Also, one of the staff was wearing FAR too much man perfume and every time he walked by the air reeked and I got quite nauseated - tell the staff to leave their cologne at home.
The quality of the steak and the service are the only reasons I gave this establishment three stars. Be sure to check Yelp reviews for more current information on this establishment, as they seem much more up to date than OpenTable. Also, it was difficult to find the restaurant as it is located in the Holiday Inn, and not a stand alone location. It would be nice if there was a mention of this on OpenTable.
We came here for our Anniversary, based on the recommendation of our friends. Our waiter was very
good and very attentive, and then he disappeared for quite awhile. I had the Ahi Tuna and asked for it
to be cooked rare, although I like it seared first. Overall, very enjoyable experience, until we returned home and I began to get sick. I think the tuna was too rare, and maybe not fresh. I continued to get sick
to the point that we were ready to go to the Emergency Room. I began to feel better after awhile. I think
we will probably return there, although I will not have seafood the next time!
We were there for dinner on Friday, the food was terrible both dinners were over cooked and no flavor. For the price point I expected more.
.
Wonderful food and great service!
My husband and I had a great meal. Food was delicious and service was great.
We’ve been going here for years and love the filet. The filet was still just as excellent as always but this time the broccoli was way overcooked. Usually your vegetables are perfectly just slightly cooked but not this time. Please keep up the quality.
