Alas Trafalgars is no more. We were able to get in on the last Saturday and is was fun and sad and happy all at once. Will miss Trafalgars desperately
We miss you already!! Thanks for everything. See you at sweet obsessions. <3
I love this restaurant so much and am so heartbroken that they are closing. The owners have done an amazing job of running this place for 20 years and are ending on the highest note. Have had many tasty dinners and brunches here. Service is always lovely. Am going to miss them very much. Cheers to the owners and staff, thank you for being such a gem to the neighbourhood!
All was good but as Trafalgars is closing for ever this weekend any review would be moot. It's a great shame as this was a long time favourite.
Great food, wonderful and wonderful neighbourhood venue. So, so sorry that it is closing. We are really going to miss it!!
We'll miss the lamb burger!
I love the food here and will be sad to see it close in a couple of weeks. I love finding anywhere with fresh ingredients where you can have a 3 course meals with drinks and not feel stuffed or heavy by the time you leave. The mushroom arancini was delicious, as was the pork tenderloin. There is an impressive 33 dessert choices plus specials and dessert wines and coffees to choose from also.
Service has always been very good and I hope to get back for brunch or lunch before they close the doors.
Restaurant did not live up to our expectations based on previous reviews. Dishes generally bland and over-priced for what showed up on the plate. Waitress friendly and efficient. The host on the other hand - brusque and officious.
I had my wife's sister and brother-in-law to entertain before their return to Toronto the next morning. We had attended three separate wedding events in Vancouver over three days, so we were feeling a little worn out.
Trafalgar's exceeded expectations...the butternut squash soup and my pork tenderloin were excellent, my wife's sister's risotto ditto excellent...the only negative was that my brother-in-law's bison was lukewarm, and the kitchen had to wave a magic wand. We then went next door to Sweet Obsession for desserts and coffee. My guests went home very happy.
We had a wonderful dinner and the service was the best!
The food was delicious and we were able to talk to each
other and not have to compete with others.
Thanks for a wonderful evening!
First-time diners. Went for pre-Mother's Day Brunch. All four of us enjoyed our brunches and Champagne Cocktails. We weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter so much that our breakfasts took so long.... There was a large Birthday group being served while we were there, which also impacted the "noise level".
All in all, we do not regret going, and would go again. Good location. Nice staff!
A very friendly neighborhood restaurant. Delicious food and artistically presented.
Great for Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch and Dinner.
We wanted a restaurant in the neighbourhood, quiet enough so we can chat, and tables not too close together so we have privacy.
We had a very enjoyable evening, although the noise level could be a little quieter.
lovely food, relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff, harmonious surroundings
Excellent carbonara will be back
For that dish
It wasn't that busy when we were there, but was nice to have a reservation. Food was very good. Not your typical greasy spoon place. Well thought out menu. Enjoyed the experience.
Lovely, warm and friendly neighbourhood brasserie. Friendly staff who didn't rush us but provided good, relaxed service. Able to be flexible with the requests our children made. The food itself was delicious with an emphasis on local versions of brasserie favourites.
We had a great time, food was excellent.
Had the best halibut dish ever! The fresh ingredients and combination of flavors were incredible..can't wait to go back and have it again!
We really didn't have a good experience. The food was okay but nothing special, the room was cold, and the service was efficient but not warm and notable. Overall, this is probably an okay choice for locals, but I wouldn't drive out of my way to go there again.
Small neighborhood bistro, great food and atmosphere. Came for a birthday dinner with six people. All of us really enjoyed the meal and we would recommend this as a place to eat for anyone. One issue that bothered me was the relentlessly attempted to confirm the reservation, leaving 3 messages on my phone. When the finally got me, I was informed of a 18% mandatory gratuity for a larger party. In my opinion, 6 is not a large party, and I do not like being forced into an 18% tip with not opportunity to judge the service. The service was about the only thing I found lacking as it was slow and a little unattentive. they should really reconsider this policy, as the restaurant was not even full when we were seated at 8pm..
Very good food with a nice quiet atmosphere nice pacing of the service
I love this restaurant!! It is a neighborhood gem!! We really should come more often. The food is always supremely delicious and the staff are ever-so welcoming and generous with their service. Great for casual dining or more formal. Love, love, love this place!
It was my second time in three days, this time with the whole family. Exquisite food with fine attention to detail. Risotto with sunchokes and a scallop! Everyone loved their meals.
We had a wonderful belated valentines dinner.. Wonderful staff, excellent food, cosy setting. Will be coming back on our next visit to Vancouve..
As usual, the prix fixe did not disappoint. The chicken pate, silk smooth and flavourful with compote, the pasta special (smoked octopus, mussels), the pear sorbet! Keep up the stellar quality!
I have always wanted to dine here but living practically right next door it just never happened although I buy the cakes all the time. It was great to finally dine & did not disappoint. I would recommend this to anyone looking for moderate to dining for any occasion. The noise level was great -very easy to talk & food was awesome - highly recommend the bistro fries with truffle oil. Can't wait to go again -
Trafalgars has long been a favourite. It has the feel of a friendly, neighbourhood bistro with innovative but comforting entrees and appetizers. Coffee is excellent but the desserts outstanding--rich and satisfying!
My birthday lunch
Great little local restaurant. Easy to get to and to park. Great menu and wine list. Truffle fries with mussels excellent. They accommodated my lactose free request.
I wanted to go back there and introduce my family to their bison steak. Though it wasn't available that night, the beef fillet was great. Scallop appetizer was delicious too.
Will definitely go back there again on special occasions.
Great little gem for a fancy date without breaking too much of the bank. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable!
We enjoyed our experience. In fact the restaurant made us feel as if we were transported us to a different city. The service is outstanding. The bread is excellent and fresh. The onion tarte very nice and risotto excellent. The mussels would have benefited from a bit more garlic for our tastes. The mussels were a little bland for our tastes . The desserts impeccable especially the fruit tart with chocolate mousse, which we felt was the best dessert. Their desserts appeared to use real butter and were fresh made by Sweet Obsession. We had earlier come for breakfast and for breakfast, I recommend the smoked salmon benny. We will go back for breakfast for sure.
A nice, consistently good neighbourhood option. Service was a bit slower than usual, but always friendly.
I appreciate restaurants that are not too loud and do not have tv screens, so we can enjoy the meal and the company. I would recommend this place for dates and friend get-togethers.
We were visiting Vancouver from Seattle. Friends recommended the restaurant. We drove from downtown to visit. It was definitely worth the drive. Loved the small restaurant with the owner greeting you. Service couldn't be better. Food was fabulous. Would definitely go back again.
Two of us dined at brunch. Both the duck confit hash and traditional breakfast were well prepared and tasty. The jam is extraordinary! We have dined here for dinner twice in the past and enjoyed those visits as well. I highly recommend.
The starters were excellent. The main courses were good and the dessert menu very good. However, the wine selection for people drinking by the glass was poor and, relative to comparable restaurants on Vancouver's west side, overpriced. This brought the restaurant down on the criterion of value for money.
I and all of my friends love this place. The food, service and decor are all wonderful.
We enjoyed the Chicken pate and the Lamb stew, very favourful and amble amount.
