I've always loved going to Trader Vic's because I love anything tiki/tropical and the food has always been very good. Our server was quite slow and didn't check on us. After what seemed like a long wait at our table with just one drink each, we had to flag him down to get him to finally take our appetizer order. Then when were were just about done with the appetizers, we had to flag him down again to place our entree order. While he was friendly, we felt he was either really slow, or maybe too busy. Although, the restaurant didn't look super busy at the time. Overall, yes, I'll dine here again, not for the service, but for the ambiance, the view and the food.
Always a special pleasure to eat at Trader Vic's, especially when you can do so while watching the sunset over the bay. Food, drinks, ambiance, and the staff are all amazing! I am looking forward to them getting their full menu back, but even the temporary menu is full of delicious things!
Took my mom there for a birthday dinner and had a great time! The decor was great and everyone was very friendly, including our server who worked a long shift that day. My mom absolutely loved her steak and said it was the best she had ever tasted. I would definitely recommend it for a special occasion dinner.
We went to Trader Vic's for dinner with some trepidation, expecting the vegetarian entrees to be lacking. But we were delightfully surprised. All-in-all, a great experience.
Great! It was warm when we arrived and we had multiple servers but food was great and mai tai wonderful.
Inside is like visiting a museum of the South Pacific arts!
And outside are spectacular views of the boats, the hills, the bay.
The drinks menu is good for giggles, and the drinks are delicious.
First time in town and have never been to any of the Vic’s locations. I’m by myself and no issue getting an appetizer and first drink ordered. They then leave me alone for 45 minutes and have to flag somebody down to get any kind of service. They were a little better after but the bah mi was meh and at that point I was over it. Bought two cool mugs, but that was about it for highlights.
There are better tiki bars all over the bay, no need to stop here for anything outside the nostalgia and history.
Tasty food and drinks! Very inviting staff. I prefer not having Valet Parking! It always seemed very unnecessary.
Great food and drinks ! Great service with very nice view !
Have gone here for years. It is always great, love the atmosphere.
The food has gotten better over the years and this is a classic, iconic restaurant! Only wish they would re-institute the hot towels to use after the appetizers!
Experience was outstanding! We love Trader Vic’s!
We had lunch for three and it was a bit pricey considering all things. The food wasn't that special. It was okay, cooked to order, but nothing memorable. The food is old fashioned and outdated. This place is good for a mixed group or those who like food that isn't too adventurous. I probably won't be back because I like food that is more upscale, contemporary, adventurous, and reflective of the prices being charged. I requested a view seat with my reservation, and was not given one, even though the restaurant was quite empty. Also, music selection for the restaurant seemed to be for the pleasure of the workers and not for the patrons or reflective of the theme of the restaurant.
Not the classic Trader Vic’s from the days when they were located in SanFrancisco
but the views are better. An abbreviated menu but interesting and delicious.
Love this Tiki Favorite. Our go to restaurant for decades.
Mai Tai’s were perfect as always.
Food was exceptional.
Our server, Claudia took excellent care of our needs.
Can’t wait to go back!
Very poor service. Mistakes on orders and they charged us for them. Incredibly slow service. We were mostly neglected. We had to move all starter dirty dishes so they could put our entrees down. We witnessed a party if 2 get up and leave after being seated 15 minutes w no attention. Very sad as it is a dying chain that should have do much potential.
Then we purchased retail items and because they did not have change (at 2 pm on a Saturday) they said they had to “round up” so they charged us extra!
We had a great time with a beautiful view and the most amazing meal.
Such a fun place! Honestly, the main reason to go here was for the Pina Colada line from the “Werewolves in London” song. However, my visit provided so much more. The huli huli chicken with Hawaiian fried rice was amazing, the view was beautiful and the decor and Hawaiian motif details made for a “vacation” night out. All at very reasonable prices. Will definitely be back when I’m in the Bay Area.
Outstanding service! The food came out super quickly and was very good. Great spot for a fun date!
Although we arrived early for our reservation- we were seated right away. Service was great and food was delicious.
Sons high school graduation.
Great service. Great Mai Tais.
Great Mai Tai's, but the food is over priced.
Trader Vic's doing a great job coming out of COVID restrictions - service and food were great.
Everyone and everything was great except for the fact they took the lettuce wraps off the menu! The Mai Tai’s are excellent!
I had hoped that they knew from the reservation notes that we were celebrating my friends birthday but it seems like they didn’t. The food has improved but I still think it’s a little overpriced but I understand that paying for this experience is just that. It did feel like our server was overloaded with tables and it took her a while to come back to us several times but she was great. I think staffing will be really important to this restaurant which I know is hard right now. It’s also extremely cold in the first dining room, it made the experience a little uncomfortable
Great service, fun atmosphere and great drinks!!!
Very enjoyable evening with great food and service; not to mention the fantastic view.
It was my wife’s birthday & her meal was disappointing.
Service and friendliness excellent
Everything we thought we would get and more! The Covid regd Made us feel safe, the staff was friendly, helpful, and timed the food, drinks, refills perfectly. This was the best way to relax and celebrate the graduation we were there for. We are definitely going back when the full menu is open post Covid, but would happily go back even with what they have now. This is a must go to place!
Fantastic food and some of the friendliest staff you could ever meet
We were looking forward to our first experience at Trader Vic's. All in all, it left us quite indifferent at the experience with regards to the food. Other details we noticed (particularly in the middle of a pandemic): sauce and salt were presented for the table without a small spoon to avoid using hands and the soap dispensers by the sink were out of order. A small sign to indicate the soap dispenser in the wall would have made it clear where to look for the soap.
The best part of the experience were the very friendly staff who could not have been more accommodating.
We are sure a great part of the experience is ambiance, which it was lacking for lunch and in a pandemic.
Overpriced and average food.
Always the best experience. Our favorite restaurant in the Bay Area. It's a great place to escape the craziness.
The Mother’s Day brunch was tremendous value. There was enough food for three meals. Everything was delicious and service was very attentive.
We love the tiki ambience of Trader Vics, and the traditional cocktails. We went on Mother's Day this year and they had a price fixed menu at $65 per person. There was four full courses and everything was delicious. We were stuffed and happy. This is a great destination for special events of any kind.
The picture showed that the outdoor patio had umbrellas. There were no umbrellas, so I got sunburned...
Food was fantastic and I am so grateful for Manager MiShawn and the entire staff for making this such a fun, stress free outing for my 83-year-old dad. We all had a blast and will hold onto the memory forever.
Menu was significantly reduced and didn't include most of their key dishes.
