Trader Vic's - Emeryville
We really enjoyed our evening. The restaurant was very nice and something new! And the view!!! The food was excellent - we all loved what we ordered! And the drinks were good and one came in a fish shaped glass!! We will definitely be back!!
Such a treat to return to an iconic beloved restaurant. Our group grabbed The Original Mai Thi, Cosmo Tidbits and purchased a few mugs to further our support.
Excellent! This pandemic made me nervous about celebrating my birthday inside a restaurant. The tables were well distanced, all wait staff were wearing masks, and single-occupancy bathrooms were available. The food and drinks were delicious, just like I remembered! It was a great experience.
Fun tiki evening out. First time out of the house in months.
Gotta have a mai tai at Trader Vic’s
Celebrated a special birthday and was pleased with attentive, prompt and accommodating service. Food was good.
Very special to sit on the deck for cocktails and dinner❣️❣️
It was a fun dining experience, and a great view, loved it!
Every aspect of my dining experience ease outstanding.
Great pork chop dinner
One complaint. It was COLD. Had to wear coat during dinner and my friend kept wishing he could get his coat from the car.
Anniversary of coming here with my children
Excellent food & service. Perfect cocktails. Never disappointed.
We had an amazing bday lunch today! Trader Vic’s always my favorite place!
So much fun!
Great experience
Nice lunch given the limited (compared to dinner) menu.
It was a busy Valentines weekend. Dinning on Saturday was best. The fiod was wonderful, the rib eye was not outstanding, I should have ordered the Lamb or Chicken. My Mai Tai was excellent! The Beef Cho Cho Apatizer and Giant Spar Rib Apatizer with the house made Chinese Hot Mustard were as delicious as ever and perfect, fabulous taste, temperature and texture... The presentation of course with the flamming cup of gel sterno at your table for the Beef Cho Cho makes for an entertaining experience in itself! This is one of the Top 100 established restaurants to explore and experience in the world! The view of the Harbour with the SF City Skylines as the Sun Sets in the west is incomparable... Go and enjoy! Literally everything they serve is great. But some dishes like the pork chop and rack of lamb are stellar!
Valentine’s Day!
My long overdue first visit to Trader Vics wasn’t planned until a week before when we discovered a favorite author (Wayne Curtis) would be there on February 13 to sign copies of his delightful book on Rum. All I can say is “Wow” - everything about the experience was top notch! The cocktails were of course superb (special thanks to Tiki savants Martin and Rebecca Cate for recommending which ones to try). The surprise of the night was just how delicious the food was! Though my fiancé and I were only able to try three dishes, each delighted the palate and gave us sufficient motivation to begin planning our next visit. The evening was also made special by meeting Vic’s granddaughter Eve Bergeron, who had introduced Mr Curtiss early on. It’s nice to see family still involved in running this historic establishment which deserves its spot as a Mecca for Tiki lovers.
Everyone in there lifetime should try this place
my wife & I enjoyed the space & the desert was amazing lillikoi sumthin, & the food was good too!!
Service was exceptionally slow and we were informed they would not make the lunch vegan meal for dinner but also did not offer a vegan alternative. Was a bit surprised considering we’ve been so many times.
Drinks are always amazing and the venue is beautiful.
Not as good (food wise) as it used to be. We'll come back, and hope that the variety and flavors of the foods offered improve. The combo rice dish I had looked good, but was bland..needed some soy sauce and sesame oil and perhaps s couple of other spices to improve the flavor.
As to variety, it seemed lacking...maybe the dinner menu would include some additional offerings.
The location was great - the view was lovely. Service was great, professional and friendly. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold (we were there for lunch), we all ate with our jackets on. Food was ok, good conceptually, but the main spice was salt, and for a restaurant with higher end prices, I expect more creativity.
Had an absolutely great time! Great service, delicious food, and live music made it a great night!
Absolutely amazing. From the drinks to the food and the service everything was exceptional.
Great food and cocktails. Great place for celebrating a special event.
Our lunch was not as good as when we were just there on 12/31/19 for my mom's bday. Everything was excellent.
We decided to go back for a duplicate meal for my birthday. We did not get a window seat, when I reserved one through Open Table plenty in advance, so I just had a small inside area to look at. Not at all the same as a window seat. The BBQ spareribs were delicious. We also got an order of the Crab Rangoon appetizers, and they were disappointingly too crabby/fishy tasting, where they were not too 'fishy' tasting on 12/31/19. We again got the Fish & chips. Just 3 weeks prior, it was absolutely delicious! Perfect crispy crust and mild in flavor. This time, my fish was so fishy, I could not eat it, but they did deduct it from the bill. The woman serving us, who appeared to be higher up than just a normal server, was very nice, professional & accommodating. She was the best part of the meal. Very disappointed for my birthday lunch. Not sure I will ever order that or the Crab Rangoon again. The lunch portions were a bit larger today, but the food is very overpriced. I also got a 'creamy' non-alcoholic drink that was frustrating to try to drink. There were so many large pieces of ice in the drink, that 1) the small amount was already very pricey, but then the ice took up most of the 'Aloha' container it came in, and 2) everytime I attempted a drink, the straw stuck to a big ice block, and I rarely just took a drink where I didn't have to move my straw around the entire drink to actually get a drink. Very frustrating, and if a drink is advertised as 'creamy,' there should not be large chunks of ice in it, it should all be creamy, blended smooth. And when I was done, half the small cup was just big ice chunks, showing just how little drink there actually was. Disappointing, and not enough for the price. Of course we love the decor, but I saw little of it where we had to sit, and there was just too many things wrong on 1/22/20. Glad it was good on 1/31/19.
I have been going to Trader Vics Emeryville for years, actually decades. It was always a good destination for very good food in a very comfortable setting. Not this time. Food was so-so at best. The restaurant was cold- we all left our jackets on during the meal. The lighting was dismal. Both lamps over our table were out. We were told the bulbs were out so they couldn't be turned on. Service, as always, was good but I won't be coming back anymore.
Our annual celebration of my late brother’s birthday. This was has favorite restaurant. Food and service were good.
One issue that I have had for the past 2 years. Servers don’t seem to know how to process Visa Gift Cards. I have a special reason for using them for part of the bill, but servers don’t seem to know what to do with them.
Can somebody provide training for team?
Thanks
Excellent happy hour for drinks, appetizers and prices. Dinner service is excellent. The Indonesian Rack of Lamb and 5 spice half duck are out favorites.
The restaurant cancelled my OpenTable reservations, I received notice via email a couple of hours before. Once I arrived they were great and found a table, bit disconcerting since we drove down from Sacramento.
It’s always been a good meal in this restaurant! 👍🏽 love the ambience and especially the drinks 🍹
Enjoyed it all!! Best food ever! I had the salmon with lentils and my friend had the scallops.
This has become our family's go-to place for birthday dinners. This time it was my wife's and we brought our daughter and her bf.
Bay Area born and raised and had sadly never been
Our server-, did not suggest any items, or do any check backs on food or drinks. This is our 3rd time here and the food and atmosphere is great. Service has not been memorable.
We had a great early dinner, meal was perfectly timed, our server was very attentive. The decor is classic tiki bar and the view of harbor is pleasant. It is a bit pricey and customers with cars are required to use the valet service even though the parking lot is right out front.
The food was good but the service was really poor. I understand it was a busy night but we had to wait for everything. We had a reservation at 8:45 pm. We reached the restaurant at 8 pm. We were told that they will seat us early. However we did not hear anything until 9 pm when I decided to go and ask about my reservation. Seemed they had forgotten about us. Then the lady did setup the table for us and sat us in next five minutes. The food server was friendly but she had too many tables. Everything was slow. She forgot to bring my drink, But another server stopped by and asked why I did not have my drink yet and brought the drink for me., The food was good but we had to wait for water, butter, and even breads for long time. Not satisfied with the service after lot of expectation and anticipations.
