   We've been to Trader Vic's many times for birthday celebrations and this one was nice too. Although we were unable to get dinner reservations due to it being a Saturday and not planning far enough in advance for a party of 6, the late lunch worked out perfectly and gave people time to get back to Sacramento and the Peninsula. Cocktails were great as usual. The hardest part here is reading through the menu and deciding. They also have very good non alcoholic cocktails so no one feels left out. We split the big appetizer plate and added a few extra crab rangoons. Many of our party got the various poke bowls, but i got the salmon sliders which were really good. I want their salmon patty recipe. Served on King's Hawaiian rolls, they went exceptionally well with the tropical drinks. Do be aware that they close lunch service at 3:00, so be sure you've made up your minds before the kitchen closes.

   We had made reservation and requested a window table .It was a special birthday occasion. We arrived on time and the hostess offered us a corner table in the bar area .It was near a window but in a very sunny hot location .We asked to see something else and she took us into the dining room . There we saw 2 empty table s for 2 at windows ,when we asked about those tables she told us they were not available to us. There was a empty booth set up for four , again she told us we could not sit there. We finally went back to the bar area and took the hot sunny table . We were very disappointed in the whole experience . At Trader Vics we had always been treated with respect ,not this time .

   All very good except my short rib beef was mostly tough. Looking forward to returning.

   Here’s the thing: Victor Bergeron - aka Trader Vic - invented the Mai Tai. Full stop. Not the sweet, often undrinkable resort cocktail but the real thing. And it’s just as potent and delicious as ever. Beyond that, the setting, decor and vibe at Trader Vic’s are unlike anything else. Views of the bay and marina, pupu platters with sides of spicy mustard, giant wood burning ovens cooking duck, snowballs for dessert. Hate on the prices if you must, but there’s no denying this place is one of the most iconic, enjoyable and aesthetically pleasing places to dine in the Bay. With any luck, we’ll be coming for another 40 years.

   We have eaten great food at Trader Vic’s for about 60 years. We hadn’t been there for a few years, but wanted to experience the great food, ambience and service again. Holidays are not always great times to go to a restaurant, but we had fabulous meals there on Mother’s Days and always around Christmas. For starts, it wasn’t even crowded! The food was mediocre at best and the price was way out of line! As much as it saddens me, I don’t think we will ever go back. We leave all our great family memories and move on. We feel totally ripped off.

   Overall the buffet was great. There was ample variety, good salads, especially the edamame and cucumber. However, the carving station meat was dry and cooled off quickly. Prime rib tough to chew. Excellent desserts. Crab and prawn servings very generous. Very good attention from the wait staff. Highly recommended the Easter Buffet.

    Food was pretty good, but we were disappointed with the Chocolate Cake. Enjoyed thye Trader Vic's Salad, Poke, Mahi Mahi and Crispy Fried Spinach. And the snowball dessert. Cocktails were great!
