Great food, drinks and service. Phenomenal view of SF. Incredible view of the sunset. Waitress was very accommodating to get us a seat near the window with a view. I’m coming back.

We were seated 3 of us in a booth with a wide view of the estuary looking back towards Berkeley. Perfect. We each had a potent cocktail selected from a vast listing of specialty drinks (5 stars). We started with some delicious appetizers followed by some filling entrees 4(stars) desert a creme bulle of sorts ( 2 stars). Service ala Ms Thelma (5 stars). Great atmosphere, a delightful afternoon.

The host/receptionist who confirmed our reservation and seated us was abrupt and took us to a table with the view blocked off because one of the chairs was a huge enclosed basket chair and was not satisfactory. I pointed out that we had requested a window table, and he said it was the only window table, offered us another table which was not a window table and said it was because you could see the window. We agreed to sit at a table which was not a window table, but the table was so high (higher than all the other tables) it came almost to my chin (I am not short). When the waiter came to take our orders he said there were window tables in the bar, and we could have our lunch there, but when I asked the receptionist he said no. Two hours later, when we left the restaurant, two window tables that were vacant when we arrived, along with several other larger tables that he was probably saving for a larger group, were still vacant. We decided to make the best of it, and our waiter was excellent—friendly, answered questions, was attentive, and accounted for the large tip we left. Everything about Trader Vik's has changed. The food was overpriced and not tasty, the ambience is no longer warm and inviting. A minor change, but symbolic, instead of a bowl of mints on the counter when you leave, there is now a small glass container of naked, wood toothpicks. How much can that be saving them? I have patronized Trader Vik's for years, and was disappointed in this downward slide into mediocrity.

The food was exquisite - most meals are prepared under a clay oven and cooked to perfection. And the beautiful dish presentations make it very unique. And fabulous fruity cocktails! The banana fritters for dessert were to die for! Thanks to the great staff and service, and lovely ambiance.

We were in the Bay Area for a vacation and we visited quite a few tiki bars. Some were more bar than restaurant. We particularly like the restaurant style and the whole retro experience. Trader Vic's was top notch. The food was great. The drinks were good and well decorated. Particularly appreciated the variety of mugs and glasses they had for each drink. Staff was very helpful, friendly, and knowledgable. We enjoyed our visit from start to finish.
