Trader Vic's - Emeryville
Book your next event with us
Trader Vic's has been around forever and yet somehow has remained very fresh. The ambiance is wonderful, taking you from a rainy day in Emeryville to the tropics. The cocktails are high quality and well made, tropical without being overly sweet. The food was what may have impressed me most this visit. It was fresh, well-prepared and delicious. We look forward to many more visits.
We made reservations for my sons 23 birthday. We were seated in the lounge and not is the dining room. It took us 20 minutes just to get a drink. For the $200 dinner cost it felt like happy hour. Very disappointing
Terrible service. Stopped helping us after entree served. No dessert offered. No bread offered.
The menu has abandoned the wonderful glory days when Vic was alive. Very much an abridged menu, drink menu also very much reduced. In the old days there was a captain in a blue blazer and wonderful waiters, now they have inexperienced help, they only want to close early and go home. Appetizers Tidbits, spareribs were chewy, no longer tender tasteful spareribs. Sorry to see this wonderful institution fall into mediocrity.
Curry average, excellent salmon from Chinese oven. Bongo Bongo soup still good.
My dinner there was my first visit, absolutely no complaints. The wait service was great, the bar staff was quick, and the dinner was excellent. I'll be back for certain.
Disappointed, there’s a new menu that fell flat with us. Service was very good.
Pretty outdated. Service was good, but ambiance and food very so so.
Best Mai Tais on the planet!!
Food is delicious, staff is spot on and the views are beautiful!
Expensive and highly over-rated. I hadn't been there for 10 years, and I think I'm all Tradered-out. Ambiance is fun and view nice, but that's about it.
Yep. This is it. The original Tiki destination. The food cant be beat. While not the best Tiki cocktails in the bay area (Smuggler's Cove in SF has that distinction) they are firmly in the top 3 and far better than what would be available almost anywhere outside of the Bay Area. Aloha!
Great location and great food & service to go along with it. Wonderful views of SF Bay. It felt like being at the Polynesian resort. There were many delicious food options and we are looking forward to going back and trying more of them. I only wish we had gone there sooner.
It was a fine experience. The drinks were great and the food was good - better than I expected from a place that is kinda kitschy. Go there for the tiki drinks. We will return.
We went out for my boyfriends mothers birthday dinner and we’re in awe of how cute the decor is! The drinks and food were beyond amazing! Our server was very attentive. He got us in and out in under an hour! We will definitely be coming back!
Oh! And there was a live band in the lounge :)
Food was fair - duck final preparation did not occur table-side (as menu indicates) and vegetables were very oily. Otherwise the Hawaiian rice and stick were wonderful.
Heater was broken so was very cold and resulted in food being just warm. Outside of the temperature inside, everything else was very good.
It was our first time here. Food was delicious and we were very pleased. Definitely coming back...valet guys were also very helpful and friendly. I wish we would have been given a happy hour cocktail menu. We just ordered and we're never asked or told about the difference. But we found out when we paid that's for sure. Next time we will ask for it.
The ambiance, food, and retro quality all combine in perfect unison to create a dining experience unlike anything else in the world. It’s a time capsule and cutting edge both at the same time, all the while still serving great food with excellent service.
Great place! Always fun to have a meal here. Trader Vic's Original Mai Tai is yummy.
Great Atmosphere. Exceptional food. Great service. The best Tiki drinks in the world!
After having dinner here while dating, my husband and I returned to celebrate our 39th anniversary at Trader Vic's.
The server was very kind and treated us to a glass of champagne to begin and a shared dessert to end. The food was served in a timely manner. It is not 'foodie' cuisine, but good. We shared the appetizer assortment, Trader Vic's salad and 9 spice chicken. It was plenty of food.
This home of the Mai Tai makes one that is absolutely delicious!
Trader VICs is a gift of heaven! Going there as now a widow, semi-retired, with a friend celebrating my wedding engagement in 1992, when my husband wanted to go there as a gift of love. Since he went to "heaven" in 2014, downsizing to a smaller place and working on my third book - I asked a realtor friend to go with me after the stress of living with my "soulmate" and looking to 2019 to help me continue to contribute to those that may need my help. Trader VICs was the one restaurant that my husband loved out of many that we went to for a celebration. I had not been there since 1992, when we celebrated our engagement and was a little hesitant since I did not even know if they were even open. When I arrived, at 4PM for the one drink I wanted the "scorpion" with the gardenia which I cherish as my favorite flower, and then dinner later, I looked inside the bar and there was our favorite table by the window unoccupied even though the room was full - this table was empty as if waiting for me. I felt that I had come home and when my friend arrived an hour later and we went into dinner -- the room, food and excellent service made me feel I had gone back in time and that Trader VICs had transported me to a moment in time and I felt my husband's presence because he loved excellence in restaurants and Trader VICs was above EXCELLENT and he was proud to take me. I can not praise this restaurant enough - and for any occasion, for any age group - please try Trader VICs for a moment in time that treats you warmly from the moment you step through the door, wonderful customer service, and food excellence at prices you can afford and a staff that is above OUTSTANDING!!! Thank you TRADER VICS with all my heart from a widow that I felt love, understanding and excellence in your OUTSTANDING restaurant.
Christmas Eve Dinner, we got stuck in the very back table of the restaurant next to a loud speaker playing music and the bustling kitchen. Yet tables were open up front by the windows overlooking the bay. Famous Mai Tai was too sweet.
Worth every penny. The drinks were mixed beautifully. Had a great visit
This was an office holiday celebration for the staff of St. Columba Church and it was excellent.
We have many wonderful memories of Trader Vic’s dating back to its location in San Francisco. We took our dad for his 96th birthday and he loved it!
Sunday night: We were seated in the bar, but asked to be seated in the restaurant. We were told that our reservation was overflow so we could only eat in the bar. Because it was full, the bar was incredibly noisy. Our waiter took our drink and food orders and that was the last we saw of him. The lamb shank ($58) was so over cooked to be inedible. It must have been cooked days before. Since our waiter never checked back, we never had a chance to replace it. The poke was very small but great. The house salad with salmon was good. The Mai Tais were good. Unfortunately, the noise and bad service over shadowed our experience. Very expensive
The valet parking is a great bonus. We loved that the harbor was very well lighted up with colored lights on the boats plus the bridge and San Francisco downtown lights made the setting MAGICAL. We enjoyed the food and drinks. staff was excellent . We did make our reservations very early which we suggest.
Amazing Dinner. Have gone for 45 years since I was a child
My fav place in Bay Area hands down while the menu has changed some the food quality has not. Had the lamb and it was incredible
We had a very nice dinner experience and the food was excellent even for our picky teenagers. The view outside our table was beautiful. Lots of cocktail and non alcoholic drinks choices. The valet parking was an added bonus. We love to come back for lunch sometimes.
Birthday Celebration (70th) our waitress was not very friendly, and forgetful when we requested something extra.
She was not very helpful until we later found out that they were
Short staff. The salmon was over cooked. I have been there have b many times and have enjoyed the food and service.
Overall we were pleased. However the waitress could have been a little more engaged and smiled more.
Hostess greeted us with a small and lovely small talk. She seated us quickly. Server was not attentive. We had to wait more than 20 minutes to pay our bill and that was after I flagged down a bus boy to get assistance paying our bill. The waitress who processed my card was quick but she was not the one who took our orders or served our meals. They took away our plates without asking and when I asked for additional plates for appetizers, it was with hesitancy. We’ve dined here four times prior to this most recent visit and service was excellent. This recent experience makes us rethink another visit to this place again.
Some of the hot appetizers are served in dishes that keep the food warm which is a major bonus if you like your food served hot. Enjoy everything ever time we visit. Great place to take most anyone that likes good food.
If you like exotic South Seas decor, and a view of the Emeryville marina, this is the place!
Use to love coming here for Thanksgiving. Now, over crowded. Lack of good service. I booked in Sept. and got a table in the bar area against a wall in the dark. Had to ask for candles to see our food. Tables are small so our silverware kept falling on the floor.
Hour wait with reservations but that wasn't bad. It was Thanksgiving and they have a nice bar. Once seated, in the back of the restaurant with no view, the food was dismal at best. It was a buffet, and it was too dark to see what you were reaching for. We were given scraps of dry turkey. The food tasted as though it had been sitting out for quite some time. Very, very disappointed considering the cost was $75/person. To top it off, I checked my credit card the next day and saw two charges. One for $240 and one for $427?? Called the restaurant several times but they were "unfortunately unable to take calls" so I left a message to request the $427 charge be removed and still haven't heard back.
Went for Thanksgiving lunch buffet. Everything I tried was delicious, hard to do with a buffet, and some of the things I tried were super delicious. Great deserts, seafood, and traditional thanksgiving favorites, the best stuffing I have ever had. Fun drinks, full bar selection, wines. Did not feel rushed, even though they were very busy. We had a table by the window which was lovely. I can't wait to go back again!
Just a lovely and delicious Thanksgiving Buffet!
Such a fun experience. Feels like you've stepped into the Soufh Pacific. The mai tais were excellent and those mugs and tiki cups are so creative. Would definitely return.
Fabulous drinks. Great bar menu. Fun to sit at the bar. Good service. Nice waterfront view.
Great food, great service and great ambiance
